    Sorry for the bad audio in the gameplay recordings. I didn't notice because I was rushing to upload this video before my vacation.
    The problem was my cheap capture card which often has audio problems. I have already ordered a new, better one.

    Great Video ! i would suggest to gave Bazzite a try, it's a more gaming focused system with more recent kernel and mes. It would fit your system as a glove.

    this thing might be weak as fuck, but theres something to be said about how consoles dont even come this cheap, with all the things you can do on a computer that you cant on a console, its hard to make an argument for a series S or a used ps4 or something like that, especially with all the games you have available not just through native pc games, but emulation, its so awesome that budget builds are still alive.

    • @worm6820

      anyone out there wondering if building a pc is hard: sort of, but you'll be happy you did it, like working out you get what you put in and this really shows that, it makes me want to build something budget even though i already have an expensive pc i love.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming

      I'm a huge fan of old consoles. PSX to PS3 including N64, Dreamcast and Gamecube were a golden age for console gaming.
      But if I could only have one, I would choose a PC over a console any day. On a PC you can not only game, you can surf the Internet, learn to program, edit videos, install different operating systems and so on

    I don't understand, I've tested God of War with i3-4160 and I can keep it at 30 fps most of the time, then here you have i3-6100 and it struggling.
    Even Days Gone performs well, just like what I expecting. I'm so confused.
    Nice work by the way.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  15 дней назад

      Interesting, thanks for the information. Maybe the problem was Ubuntu. I'm planning two more videos with this computer, one with gaming optimizations for Ubuntu and one with Bazzite. I'll test God of War again in both.

    Nice video, i think core i7 would have been a better choice for cpu that way you should get almost all games running smoothly.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  Месяц назад +4

      Thanks! You're right of course, if that was my main system I would definitely pay the extra for the i7.
      I chose the i3 for this system because in an upcoming video I will compare the gaming performance between Linux and Windows with this weak CPU and only 8GB RAM. I think this will be an interesting comparison.

    Is the weird, echoey audio your screen capturing, or a weird driver issue?
    Had that w/ my previous system, but I couldn't replicate it.

    • @SeeJayPlayGames
      @SeeJayPlayGames 24 дня назад +1

      it actually sounds like an out-of-phase issue caused by a tiny delay.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  24 дня назад +1

      I didn't notice the audio problem while playing. I think it's because of my capture card. Unfortunately it often has audio problems.
      Since I didn't know if anyone would watch my videos, I bought a very cheap one because I didn't want to spend so much money for nothing. Now that so many people are watching, I'll be investing in a better capture card 😎

    I have a question: if I went with an i5 cpu and 16GB of ddr4 ram, would that be ideal? Also, I didn't see a link for the case

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  10 дней назад

      That depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to play modern games, an i7 would be ideal because of the 8 threads. The best configuration would be an i7 6700 and 16 GB RAM with this system.
      Regarding the RAM, there no big differences between DDR3 and DDR4 on the 6th gen CPUs. At least if you can believe the old tests when these CPUs were released.
      The case: kolink.eu/Home/case-1/mini-itx-2/rocket-v2-1.html

  • @SeeJayPlayGames
    @SeeJayPlayGames 24 дня назад +1

    0:46 don't you mean i7-7700? IIRC the 6th and 7th gen could go on the same motherboard.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  24 дня назад +1

      You're right. But unfortunately for some reason that doesn't apply to this specific motherboard. Probably because of the DDR3 memory.
      The supported CPU list: www.asus.com/us/supportonly/h110iplus_d3/helpdesk_cpu/

    • @SeeJayPlayGames
      @SeeJayPlayGames 23 дня назад +2

      @@LowBudgetLinuxGaming right, well that supported CPU list was probably written when the 6th generation was new and the 7th generation wasn't out yet, so... it might be worth a try. Or maybe even one of the equivalent Xeons, if they're cheaper. I know Dells unofficially support Xeons (they work, but they don't list them as "supported").
      Similar example; if you look at the documentation, the Optiplex 3020 SFF is listed as supporting 8GB of DDR3 RAM (2x4GB). Well, that was written before 8GB modules came out, and they work just fine.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  23 дня назад +1

      Most likely you are right. I just checked and the 7th gen still supports DDR3.
      However, for the same mainboard with DDR4, the 7th gen CPUS are listed as compatible:
      www.asus.com/me-en/supportonly/h110i-plus/helpdesk_cpu?model2Name=H110I-PLUS
      Either the 7th gen CPUs were forgotten to list in the DDR3 version or they are not supported.

      Linux doesn't have all the BS running in the background like Windows. Windows has become a bloated advertising platform masquerading as an operating system. That's why I ditched it in April for Garuda Dr460nized Gaming Edition. Thinking of trying Fedora or Bazzite.

    • @LowBudgetLinuxGaming
      @LowBudgetLinuxGaming  24 дня назад +1

      In addition, Windows also requires more RAM because all the BS running in the background, which with only 8GB was quite limited in this system.
