My God, I'm 31 and I'm totally in love with this woman's voice, I discovered her two weeks ago and it blew my mind away. How in heavens could she have been sooooo awesome???? I love her
This song was my first introduction to Sarah Vaughn. She blew me away completely! It was a remarkable virtuoso performance then. Thank you for posting Sarah Vaughn effortless mastery on YT.
I just found something that is unbelievable as I save everything and so does my family. A 45 rpm which it isn't it is a 4 cut long playing "For Broadcast Only", IN MINT CONDITION AS THOUGH IT HAS NEVER SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY. Sarah Vaughan Sings George Gershwin with Hal Mooney and His Orchestra. Four cuts of Isn't it a Pity, I'll build a Stairway to Paradise, Looking For A Boy, Do IT Again. Yes, I'll say I hit the lottery. Mint Condition with the original sleeve for Broadcast Use Only of Mrs. Sarah Vaughan. Yeah, I hit the jackpot. This is from 1958. Unbelievable.
Hi, Sorry I can't copy this I just don't have the capability of doing that. I would be willing to put this on ebay to sell it but other than that I have no resources to copy the vinyl. It sure is an awesome piece though. I was shocked to find it in our family collection. Talk about an amazing find I thought I was seeing things when I found it. I just kept saying, "No way, no way." The amazing Sarah Vaughan! One in a million.
I remember that just before Sarah Vaughan came on, Patti Labelle had just blown the roof off and torn the house down with "You'll Never Walk Alone". Tough act to follow, I thought at the time. Then Sarah Vaughan came on and did this! This! Sheer magic, and thus began my lifelong love affair with Sarah Vaughan that continues unabated to this day. I still love Patti Labelle but I can't help but notice that I now have hundreds of Sarah Vaughan recordings and only two of Patti Labelle.
The reason she was singing with Billy Eckstine is because he played a big part in her success and a lot other well known jazz artist. I fell in love with her in the 1970's when I was a teenager and still a fan. I love him also!
Sarah Vaughan didn't need to lip sync. You obviously DON'T know who she is if you dare accuse her of such a reductive practice. She could do whatever she wanted with her voice, but obviously you don't know that!
Sarah Vaughan set the standard for not only Jazz vocalists but all singers. Her ability to sing along to live music and display obvious techniques such as scat, syncopation and improvisation. And let alone to belt from contralto to soprano in a matter of moments; be made aware of why she was referred to as the Divine One. And tone so mellow.
I have been looking for this clip for years!!!!! the Apollo's 50th Anniversary.... I was like 8 or 9 when I first saw Sarah Vaughn and have been obsessed with her ever since... Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love Love Love this version of this song with her and Billy Eckstine. Do you have the entire show on here?

@Fred W This must have been 1985. "Motown Returns To The Apollo," was the name of the TV special.

Her phrasing and tone? Errybody else sit down.
@buffalmacco76 That is a sad fact that hopefully with some video releases and CD sets should correct for this generation
This was sung live.. the buffering is off on this You tube.. it looks funny.. but it was LIVE
@aguirrejulia She is amazing. xx You heard of Cleo Laine? She is on the same level as Sarah, just underrated xx
@NJGUY46 Many people don't even know who Sarah Vaughan is....
@egberman This was not lip sync. The audio was out of sync. The idea of Sarah Vaughan and lip sync are two worlds apart.
video-audio is out of sync
hello lip sync. i wonder why?
Emily Berman lol totally not lip singing
