Not the easiest way ever to reduce your fault finding in half, but then this is a true mad genius project! Kudos to you for doing and posting it so we can watch the madness unfold.
It was probably more nightmarish than it looks. The canbus signal wires have junction points at various points along the loom, so you have to strip back to where they are to reattach. 3 of the 4 were straightforward though
I can't remember exactly how much the stereo affects the canbus but it was quite a bit, but the chineseum android units were a pretty seamless swap in the touareg, easy to change which car its for. You might be able to get a gq fascia with a generic screen cutout and just fit a generic screen with the touareg plugs. You know, if you haven't already thought that far ahead. Which you probably have(n't).
Thankfully it only affects it when it's there, and even then the only canbus signals are power on/off related. Lucky for me at least. Seeing as all that wiring is in the pile of doom. Stereo will use the GQ wiring since it's simple
You do you, but with all the cost and effort of getting the original ECU and wiring loom to work I would definitively gone for a stand alone ECU myself and a simple, custom wiring loom. You do have options that support a V10 PD VW engine ;)
Adding a foreign ecu to a native canbus system is never something that will work well if at all. It'll be covered in a future video, but no, an aftermarket standalone ecu will not work in this situation
@@ridiculousthings4x4 In this instance you get rid off all the canbus and control the engine directly with the stand alone ECU. You are 0% dependent on the factory ecu or management. If you need a transmission controller the stand alone ECU is compatible with many OEM transmission controllers and communicate with them through canbus. If it is not compatible you can swap it out with one that is compatible or the best option in my opinion, go for a manual gearbox conversion. It will work, it is just a different way of doing it. You know, there are more than one way to Rome :)
@Victor-t1j5s if he registers it as a 5 seater it'll be worth more if he ever decides to sell it. He can then pull the rear seats out and put whatever he wants in the back.
NSW is pretty slack with seat removal and adding (to stock capacity). Usually only needs an update of records at your next pink slip. I've been verging on leaving them in but building around their folded height, but as mentioned. Undecided
Those worm drives in the electronic actuator boxes are usually dog shit and wear to dust quickly. Used to do plenty of the buggers when I recond turbos. Good news is their easy to replace. Bad news is its still german engineering so its always going to be crap.
Who's going to subscribe to see a conversion that's been done 2 million times before? This build is something wildly different and that's why i subscribed. Well, that and the awkward stares. You gotta have the awkward stares
I actually thought in your case, you could get away without any re-flashing of the ECU's or immobilizer delete re-flashing. It looks like you have the complete car so, Engine ECU, BCM, immobilizer and key. Surely the ECU would behave exactly as std and if you use the key with FOB it would start and run as per original. No reflash required. How does the V10 engine & computers know that it is now sitting inside of a Nissan Patrol instead of a Touareg. Normally you only do immobilizer delete if you want to remove the body control modules or you don't have the key. -Only asking as I did a Ford FG XR6 Turbo conversion in a GU patrol previously, and I re-flashed the ECU with the passive anti theft disabled as I didn't want to wire in a body control module and I didn't have the original key. Much less wiring required with only the engine ECU.
Those are the things that would make it run, yes, but you're forgetting things like the door handles and various sensors that also contribute to its "happiness". That's the main reason for needing the immo delete on projects that can't realistically be transplanted
Always happy to help, Looking forward to seeing this one on the road 👍

I'm glad I'm not doing this build. It's all above my pay grade. Looking forward to seeing this in the wild when done.
I love it when you talk nerd 😂, wiring and computers do my head in
Glad iam one of the 6 subscribers you are a genius you beat yourself up but patients wow😊😊😊😊
Gday, with all the crap you cut out of the looms I reckon you did well, the brake switch didn’t seem to bad to fit back in, top job mate, cheers

Hey man good work by the end the patrols gonna look so amazing with the V10!
if your foot hurts, just use your arms and walk on your hands. theyre about the size of legs
My hands are as big as legs?? Now I'm self conscious
Stress less camp more 🫶
Best intro ever.
Yo bro this content is sick
Humour and intelligence is very Intellimour.....so do more...like longer episodes.
Nice thing you got there
Sound proofing. Lots of car builders.
Next episode! You might even have already seen some spoilers around the soulless ginger carpet
Leave the rear seats out, that’s all I have to add, you’re welcome.
So glad I’m one of the 5 subs
What did he just say.....something about adjusting the points and distributor on the old holden 6🤪🤔🤪🙄

Get a decent multimeter if youre going to be working with wiring stuff
I have many, but, like the funnel incident in the last episode, the only one available was the craptacular one

Hello would it have been easier to just put a haltec or even an ls1 ecu to drive the engine?
this gets asked almost every video. I'll go into detail about why it can't work in a video at some point
@@ridiculousthings4x4money I'm guessing, plus v10s can be hard to drive cos a lot of ecus only do 8 cyls

Now for 20 more "almost finished v10 patrol" videos
With slightly different clickbait titles? I like your thinking

Get it registered with the seats, then pull them out.
Not sure that's the greatest idea

What is the pink juice
Just a cocktail of degreasers. Probably not edible
