  • Way back in 1982, while building my very first solenoid motor I made it a goal to be able to make the majority of the parts from scratch. This motor represents the realization of that goal. The fasteners and the switch are the only parts that did not come as raw stock and not made for some other purpose. If you have watched the full series you can tell I like the very early internal combustion engine designs. A single flywheel with a mechanical speed governing system. If you are into side shaft motors wished you could have one that sits in the palm of your hand and runs at realistic speeds, this is the motor that does just that. Designing and building the motor took 6 years from start to finish. I built several other motors in that same time frame and had responsibilities that did not allow time to work on it continuously. This motor uses an electromagnet, low voltage.
