The first installment of the Hit and Miss, Side Shaft Solenoid Motor build. The fly wheels used for this build are machined from raw castings. There are many ways to machine flywheel castings. I use a combination of Sherline and Taig equipment. You can use any small lathe with the right swing size to turn aluminum flywheel castings. The use of an independent four jaw is necessary but does help with concentricity. To keep the drill on center, a bar clamped in the tool holder held against the drill bit will help.
