My Highlight lasted 2-3 years and the only problem is the silver lining came off in some parts after a few months. Funnily enough I found this video because I’m looking to replace it now that it won’t pump up fully 😂 but I recommend it. It was 25 bucks at Walmart when I got it
Haha aye I still have my highlight but I rarely use it. It's the basketball I used to help start my side business as a basketball trainer so now it's something of nostalgia for me now.
@@Love2Hoop that’s dope. I ended up going with the Spalding Cross Court, the black version because the material is softer (like the highlight), and once the grip fades it will basically feel the same instead of being slippery and hard. I love it so far
I agree! This Wilson ball is currently my favorite composite ball and it’s good to know that it should have great durability for the years to come. Thanks!
After watching your review, I just had to get myself a Wilson NCAA Replica Game Ball. It arrived yesterday, and man, is it a great basketball! I recreationally played a little when I was younger.. Currently, I am in my midlife crisis, and as I bought a basketball for my son, and I did the research anyways, I just had to get myself a basketball as well.. Even though I don't really play myself anymore.. And boy, does the Wilson deliver! It bounces quite well I think, and it is super grippy, with deep channels. It is the first time, I am able to hold up the basketball with one hand.. In my humble opinion, it is one of the nicest looking basketballs out there.. I went with the brown one, instead of the black one though.. I even was able to pick it up via Amazon for a steal! Thanks again for the recommendation and the great content!
Ben I couldn't agree more.. The price for the quality is really really good. I saw you got your son that Molten BG which is a great starter basketball, and soon he'll be able to graduate to that Replica ball no problem.
I got the highlight 5 years ago for outdoor play. I'm finally looking at replacing it, but I'm struggling to find a competent replacement. I didn't know they changed the name!
I personally like the NCAA replica but that's for sunnier climates on cleaner outdoor courts. If you're going indoor sometimes I would think maybe the forge but it won't last as long as the NCAA.
Once the weather starts to shift I'll do more outdoor ball reviews. I don't want to take an outdoor ball and use it indoors and lie to ya'll. The weather is still under 50 degrees and usually rainy.
Wilson makes a lot of replica balls with "NCAA" branding, including encore, final four, jet pro and your highlight. Are they really the same exact ball just with a different name printed on the surface?
So oddly enough they're all not the same basketball, but they're all the indoor/outdoor version of said basketball. I do feel like the encore and jet pro are the same, and the final four and highlight are similar too.
No, I had the final four but just bought the Replica Game Ball today and it is FAR better than the final four, the final four is cheaply made with bad durability and terrible quality control with leather panels being uneven and even peeling off, so they are different
I haven't found one on the site. I think the closest would be this one - www.wilson.com/en-us/product/ncaa-legend-vtx-bskt-wz20074#colorsteamname=92010
Hey, I’m a bit confused. Is the “Highlight” just a special edition of the NCAA Replica? Are they the same exact ball aside from the color and name? Also, how would this ball compare to the Encore?
The highlight is a basketball that doesn't exist anymore from Wilson. The replica would be the closest thing to it on the market. As far as comparison between that and Encore, the encore has a rougher surface feel which is better for outdoor durability. The replica feels better on hand for indoor play, but on cleaner outdoor surfaces plays well.
I would say the biggest difference is the surface between the two. Both are composite leather, but I think that the NCAA Replica/highlight has a higher grade composite than the showcase. Makes for a softer surface when you first get it.
Very similar basketball, the only difference between the two would be that mine has the composite pebbled channels or "grooves", and the sensation is the flat channels.
I played at North Seattle College which is a JUCO, they got rid of the program because of budget cuts back in like 2009 then I went to Barry University in Miami. Was gonna walk on and the coach told me straight up he doesn't play walk-ons. If I was a 2K player build I'd be a 3Pt Playmaker or Facilitating Shooter. I was better as a shooter, but I always loved making plays like Magic Johnson.
Nice. I played D3 ball and fell in love with the NCAA Official Game Balls. I just ordered a Replica for outdoor use based on your review. Thanks for the videos
Great question, and I would say no. The look of the Final Four basketball looks more like the JetPro review video I did - ruclips.net/user/shortssZ72Pi-qGG8?feature=share
late comment but, Definitely not, I just bought a replica game ball today, coming off the final four, and it is miles above the final four, the quality and durability is so much better than the final four, the final four had skin chipping and peeling after just one day, and the leather panels were uneven and even peeled off, so ya.
If we're talking outdoor I personally like the BG 4500, but that's really if the courts you play on are different types of surfaces. If it's a clean court the NCAA is good, but if it's dusty/dirty the handle is gone pretty quick.
Is it better then the jet pro. I played with this ball here in your video over the weekend and man did it feel great. I want that kind of ball. Will the jet pro suffice ? Thanks again
The EVO and this basketball don't compare really at all. The weight, the surface, the playability, is all different. This would be closer to what an Evolution might play like outdoors.
This basketball is DEFINITELY heavier than the Forge Pro. The forge was one of the lighter basketballs on the market especially for an indoor/outdoor. I think the weight of this basketball is similar to the older Wilson Solution.
@@Love2Hoop thanks for that info. It seems this ball is only available in red/white/blue and splatter as the black is sold out. I think I'll just go with the red/white/blue based on your review. On a general note, I appreciate your reviews and the specific details you bring to the table. Most basketball reviews seem very generic and never mention weight which would seem to be a significant consideration when choosing a ball.
Great question and I'm picking the Wilson and that's ONLY because of the traditional United States designed paneling vs the more international FIBA style design. It's reeeal close as far as durability and feel, but if you're not used to a FIBA style ball it could feel unusual.
@@Love2Hoop I’ve got the bg3800 just cause i’m from europe and I prefer it over the tradicitional design (i have a wilson reaction pro so I have tested both)
Great question. I prefer the Wilson for asphalt courts because it's a little kinder on the composite leather. A dusty court is gonna turn that Wilson into a volleyball, so if the court you're playing on isn't normally clean I would go with the Molten. That ball holds up well no matter the dust or dirt.
@@Love2Hoop Oh man Im playing on dirty concrete so I assume the Molten should be better for me yea? Thank you for answering my question big boss this helped me a lot! Great content by the way, I can't wait for more. :)
