I hope you replaced the bottom of the valley where you bent it up with a new piece of W valley metal. If not I would have to say you did it half assed. Other than that your videos are on point. 20+ year roofer here.
Wow! I'm not knowledgeable about roofing, but aside from the original lousy installation, in my opinion this video is certainly no testament to the OSB roof decking. I think I understand that proper preparation, installation of the shingles and correct finishing techniques would have prevented the exposure that caused the OSB deterioration. I wonder though if at the time of the original house construction or during a rebuild/repair, homeowners are ever informed of or offered a choice of roof decking materials that exceed what appears to be the minimum accepted or allowed by code requirements.

What is your experience with new build construction and the quality of the roofs that are placed? I'm horrified that our new home will be shoddy like this.
The cause of this problem is not the edge of roof, is the gutters seems to me that overflow is causing the plywood to roted. Make sure that there is plenty of down spouts and outlets are free od debris. Also end of valley needs to be waterproof with self adhesive membrane before sgingles are installed
It was the edge of the roof. It had nothing to do with the gutters. The gutters almost never have anything to do with roof leaks. Gravity takes care of that. .
I’ve made this repair hundreds of times here in WA state. 99% of the time it’s a combination of clogged gutters (or never cleaning them), using OSB as a substrate (basically just a sponge), sometimes overhanging the OSB too far out, or no eave metal. That OSB wicks water upwards easily. And damage to wall lines is unbelievable on roofs with no overhangs. BTW, love watching your vids and seeing fellow roofers stepping in to do what’s right.
aaron Ramirez So what I’ve experienced is in some of these cases, the underlayment is hung long, and if it dips into a gutter that is filled with water (not necessarily overflowing), it will sop of water. That saturated felt just passes it on to the substrate underneath. If it’s OSB, it has a higher percentage of failing, as opposed to regular CDX 1/2” plywood.
You can't use OSB, chip board, whatever you want to call that crap on roofs(or anywhere its exposed to moisture. As soon as it gets wet, it breaks down and crumbles. Either straight wood, or plywood.

If carbon monoxide escapes the "tubing" or materials used to vent the exhaust "carbon monoxide" will go up (float) because it is slightly lighter than air (look it up) and when it reaches the top (underside of the vent / flashing) the carbon monoxide can't escape because some idiot sealed the storm collar incorrectly. Ask yourself, then where does it go if it can't escape below the storm collar.
