MY brother ..... SDG custom Lure Craft taught me to use 1/8'' heat shrink on the hook eye before you do the dip 😎... works out SWEET ... no hook eye cleaning 👊🤟
Hey Matt, did you have any problem with your poison tail jig mold closing with those Mustad 32886BL in hooks. I just got my jig more today but it’s not closing properly. I noticed that the recommended number is 91768 on the jig mold
One thing you may try is buying the wire form for the DoIt mold underspin and attaching it to a flipping hook or spinner bait hook. Makes for an opening without prying open the hook eye on a regular jig hook
Matt, Awesome vid man. Did you have to make a mold mod for the 32886 hook? Also a tip for you, re-insert fresh weed guard pins just before baking. It eliminates the extra drilling.
Thanks man. No you don’t need to mod the mold at all. It worked fine. I’ve always wondered about that. I was afraid the powder paint would bake to the base hole pin
@@MattLunaFishing Let the paint cool just a bit before re applying the pin before baking. it works pretty well for me so far. I usually paint with a teflon pin, then put an aluminum one back in the jig for baking.
good video, if the wind was blowing into the garage why would leave the door to the kitchen open. Also probably not a good idea to have mixers and other kitchen stuff on the shelf. i would have rolled that whole bench outside and had a fan devirting the wind so it would not go into the garage. Just a thought. nice swim jigs
@@MattLunaFishing no if you cut the pieces before hand its really fast, you have to use a small heatshrink and just push it on, heat and dip, the n pop them off for perfect eyes with no scratches etc

Yes, that’s an option. To me, it’s not worth the extra time. Personal preference for me
When I inserted weedguard in my jigs I use a small plastic tube with a screw in one end & adjust to length of the guard to in sert
I’m not following what you’re trying to describe

I don’t remember to be honest. How much of a gap is there? If it’s not much you can force it closed and it will make room
Great video.
Thank you!
@@MattLunaFishing You're welcome.
Sweet lookin jigs. I would enjoy making my own lures.
Thank you. It’s really fun to do! You should give it a shot!
Awesome looking jigs
Thanks man! I make a bunch of stuff! Drop shot weights, swim jigs, darter heads, football heads, etc
What part# hook is that??? thank you, that was awesome!!! I'm trying to make a chatterbait could I use that hook???
How are you planning to attach the hook? With a spilt ring or direct?
@@MattLunaFishing Direct, not a big fan of the split ring

Yo, you got the music! haha that's so awesome! I love it!!!! 👍
Hahaha....you ask and i make it happen! Glad you like it! Always feel free to make a suggestionN
Do you use a 4/0 32886 hook for both the 3/8 and 1/2 oz jig?
Yeah that’s probably a good hook to use. I’m not 100% sure on that number is sounds right
It’s been a while since i made any of thesez. It’s all about the angle of the hook eye. If you match that you should be fine
@@MattLunaFishing Thank you.
Anytime! Hope you enjoy the channel!
what size and model hook are you using with the 1/4 oz?
I never use the 1/4 oz, so I’m not 100% sure, but i imagine 3/0 or 4/0.
Those look really good. Do you paint any in chartreuse?
No i don’t. I don’t have that color paint.
@@MattLunaFishing so just green pumpkin and black?
I am so white, black, brown, green pumpkin, clear blue flake, clear purple flake, and clear black flake
@@MattLunaFishing does the metal flake go over the other colors?
It can but it’s not very consistent in the amount of flake each bait gets
What size eyes for those?
5/32 for the larger sizes! Here’s my affiliate link if you need to buy anything from Do-It Molds: store.do-itmolds.com/?AffId=5
5/32 sized eyes for all sizes according to the DoIt site

Ron Kramer ok cool. I’ll have to give it a try! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for watching the video and the health conscious concerns. Gonna have to take in into consideration
@@MattLunaFishing or simply ignore his whiney ass.
Best thing to do is use a small piece of heat shrink over the hook eye 👁
You are probably right but that probably takes the same amount of time as picking the eye out.
@@MattLunaFishing no if you cut the pieces before hand its really fast, you have to use a small heatshrink and just push it on, heat and dip, the n pop them off for perfect eyes with no scratches etc

I know this is a year old but man get Teflon pins best 10 bucks I ever spent
These ones have worked fun for me. No issues
Use a fan
Normally I do

What info would you like?
What hook did you use? The model number please?
Sorry, I don’t remember. This video is pretty old and I haven’t made them in a while. They are probably the mustad or vmc with the 30 degree line tie.
