I really don't understand why the drumming community hasn't heard more about this guy. This is some of the most technical and creative shit I've seen to date
I was just thinking this. Usually when someone's this insanely skilled they tend to make it look "loose" and easy. I don't know man. He can do whatever he wants cause he's a technical God.
I literally have all the OAA instrumentals they have on spotify in a playlist and listen to them constantly haha Chris Turner is the best drummer on the planet and I’ll die on that hill
1:40 that clash between the triplet tom hits and 16th not double pedal work is trippy in just the right way. damn chris, you really are something else.
I still have no fucking clue how the hell can he remember all this without looking at tabs, it's like 1000 different drum parts from different songs, gosh.
If Chris is gone, OAA wil no longer be a band. Literally, they'd break up because nobody would be able to play even a single oaa song from hikari and lost isles i guess xD
MarkyPaligs i can play covert pretty much note for note and Hansha (hanshas easy actually) but all the other songs are out there for me. I’m not trying to put myself out there I’m just saying, I’m 16 and can play a lot of technical stuff and play pretty fast and can usually understand what people are playing and eventually learn it, but this band is a band for me where the drum parts (especially on lost isles, lots of harder drumming on that) are just so physically and mentally murdering. Very true if something happened with Chris, this band would be no more.
Can we take a moment to credit the sound engineer for the amazing quality and clarity of literally everything? P.S. Chris is one of my top three favorite drummers!
ThatKiDwiththeDrums fucking YES...I wanted one for "part of something" from Lost Isles album...that would have been a spectacle....hopefully he does the one of deadweight :D
I love seeing the concentration in his face while he is playing. Just tells me how much he loves doing it. He's up there with the best in my opinion behind none other than Matt Garstka of course.
The vocals on the chorus are fucking awesome, but holy shit I could literally watch you drum for days, even if its the same three minutes and twenty seconds looped constantly. Please just upload every song with drum playthroughs lol
I remember hearing the EP when it came out. I remember telling myself this band was too good to not be known. Here I am years later and that came true for them. Glad to see how far theyve came.
My question the whole video was where were the infamous adidas slides he kills the double pedals with? lol. Most unique and talented drummer in the metal scene imo right now.
It's funny. His technique is quite poor - if I were his drum teacher, I would tell him to loosen up or he would find himself unable to play properly, as being stiff like he is here isn't great, his neck is at an angle nearly the entire playthrough. But fucking hell, he slayed it. Super clean and super tight. His arms must be fucking battery powered for him to be able to play this consistently yet being so rigid. Creativity is at an expert level too. I can't imagine what he'd be capable of playing if he loosened up a little. We're dealing with a killer drummer here
Actually there's a reason for that I believe. I remember reading somewhere that he had a spinal issue or some back issue and that's why he's so stiff. Don't hold to me to it though, can't remember where i read it but I know it's somewhere out there.
IMO, playing looser would change the way his drumming sound. I´ll stay with his rigid robotic AI face and body if it keeps sounding like this. I totally get your point tho.
0:12 For the life of me, i cannont wrap my head around how he achieves that sound on the bass pedals. Like is he just speeding up or hitting on slightly different intervals or?
I really don't understand why the drumming community hasn't heard more about this guy. This is some of the most technical and creative shit I've seen to date
I agree fuck he is amazing.
@@ambermangel yas
He doesn't get the attention he deserves.
Right wtf?I agree and how does this not have a shit ton of views
You made that comment 2 years ago....I only just found out about him right 4 minutes ago......WTaF?!?! Orbin, Rüdinger....the lot gotta look out! :-O
I've never seen someone play so stiff, yet be so technical and hard hitting. This guy is unbelievable, can't believe I never heard of him before this.
I was just thinking this. Usually when someone's this insanely skilled they tend to make it look "loose" and easy. I don't know man. He can do whatever he wants cause he's a technical God.
you're a freakin' machine dude, that face you make while playing, can't handle the amount of concentration.
Honestly, if you guys lose the current vocalist, just be an instrumental band. I could listen to every OAA album like this.
THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN, or at least release a special instrumental edition with no vocals
Gio Duude exactly what Northlane did with their albums
there is a fair amount of instrumentals on Hikari
haha good idea
I totally agree!
Honestly one of the most original drummers in metal, i will continue to buy the albums just to hear the constant musical wizardry!
And what you say today? Unbelievable, isn‘t it?
Today, while watching this, my three-year-old said, "That drum-player is INCREDIBLE, Dada." Well done, drum-player.
I literally have all the OAA instrumentals they have on spotify in a playlist and listen to them constantly haha Chris Turner is the best drummer on the planet and I’ll die on that hill

林錦長 I'm pretty positive he improvises sometimes
Rj Fusco he improvises a lot in the playthrough videos
only improvises during the rests lol, this guy is a machine
Because he wrote it and probably improvises live.
林錦長 fucking indeed !
Thank you for not having the camera man on a boat this time and for not constantly changing the angle. Good shit.
That fill at 2:12 is so gnarly
This man needs to recognize by whole world
This might be the best thing I've ever seen in my life. That was flawless. Chris, you are a machine!
If Chris is gone, OAA wil no longer be a band. Literally, they'd break up because nobody would be able to play even a single oaa song from hikari and lost isles i guess xD
And cause Chris is responsible for a lot of the unique sounds and instruments they used in hikari
And the writing
MarkyPaligs i can play covert pretty much note for note and Hansha (hanshas easy actually) but all the other songs are out there for me. I’m not trying to put myself out there I’m just saying, I’m 16 and can play a lot of technical stuff and play pretty fast and can usually understand what people are playing and eventually learn it, but this band is a band for me where the drum parts (especially on lost isles, lots of harder drumming on that) are just so physically and mentally murdering. I disagree...ever heard of "Matt Gartska?"
Adam, Matt is just faat but Chris is more creative.
The fill at 2:12 kills me every time... so good.
The level of focus he’s at. Just wow. One day I’ll play them drums like this 🥵
My favorite drummer hands down...and I’ve probably seen em all.
the most underrated drummer on this planet
Can we take a moment to credit the sound engineer for the amazing quality and clarity of literally everything? P.S. Chris is one of my top three favorite drummers!
No, because in my opinion it sounds really bad.
Too good, I would love to see one for deadweight!
ThatKiDwiththeDrums fucking YES...I wanted one for "part of something" from Lost Isles album...that would have been a spectacle....hopefully he does the one of deadweight :D
trinirocker101 I want to see a guitar cover for part of something
+ThatKiDwiththeDrums Me too!
More like Oceans ate alaska - "covert" Drum demotivation tutorial
Chris is an absolute legend.
Chris is a precision monster. Damn boi, that's insane right there. Just like the rest of your playthroughs
I love watching Chris play
I need my daily dose of Chris Turner live drum playthroughs.
Love this guys ghost notes. Really turned me on to this band. They are so high in the mix and make me want to just play ghost notes on my own kit
I love seeing the concentration in his face while he is playing. Just tells me how much he loves doing it. He's up there with the best in my opinion behind none other than Matt Garstka of course.
Man, you are awesome. I cant stop listening to it. Love that snare an cymbls sounds.
My Goodness Gracias! One of the few Champions on film!!
we need a drum playthrough of all the songs of this new album. NOW!
Loved that bass fill. Looking forward to more playthroughs!
The vocals on the chorus are fucking awesome, but holy shit I could literally watch you drum for days, even if its the same three minutes and twenty seconds looped constantly. Please just upload every song with drum playthroughs lol
Wow. I am so amazed by this man. The sheer talent blows me away. He truly is among the best I have ever heard. Keep it up man. Woohoo!!!!!!
I remember hearing the EP when it came out. I remember telling myself this band was too good to not be known. Here I am years later and that came true for them. Glad to see how far theyve came.
2:42 ........definition of music
This is some of the juiciest and most complex metal drumming i have ever seen
💪😌Best Technical Metal Drummer of 2021!!!
💪👽
What an inspiration. Incredible!
"Here's a bunch of riffs strung together, enjoy our new song" - OAA
Beautiful music.
This is insane, Chris is a beast!
He looks like as if his soul left the body and just chills out in the corner while the brain does his job
I love this album and dude is a machine I swear.. regardless some extreme talent.
Chris Turner you're now my favorite drummer fucking magnificent.
inspirational fave drummer rn
I went into a fit of laughter at how fucking good Chris is 😂
yesss the filming on this is soo much better than escapist
This is like my 5th time watching this, and I only just noticed it is done in one take. Holy shit.
I just love this guy!!!
I wonder when Chris gets a cold if he just becomes more human than drumming machine
Let's be honest, the mix is amazing.
Been waiting patiently for thus
This song is such a fine craft
I'm Indonesian, I like this guy's drumming
Unbelievably good.
His kicks are unbelievable
This was so badass goddamn nice job chris
i admire him!
OAA is definitely one of my top influences.
My question the whole video was where were the infamous adidas slides he kills the double pedals with? lol. Most unique and talented drummer in the metal scene imo right now.
Such a sick drummer! I wish I played drums so I could TRULY appreciate how good this is!
1 album later, still a machine!
OAA is the smartest band out there...they created a talented robot to play the drums perfectly...and they prob dont even need to pay him
Great play through
Guitar playthroughs from the new album would be appreciated
MrPxcJake1 I'm dying for a guitar playthrough already and hopefully a bass playthrough that has more than one string being used lol
It's kinda hard to hear the 1:18 riff with the vocals going in but now I can properly hear it god damn... so so nice,
The Peter Crouch of drumming! What a player though. This guy is off the scale and should be on the cover of every drum magazine ever!!!
i wish this guy was around when i started playing drums. What a god to look up to!
Oooh...these ghost notes and fills. Orgasmic
The 2 dislikes are from his snare and bass drum. They don't like getting pounded as often as they are.
I feel bad for Jake, I really like his vocals. Even though I listen to OAA for drums solely.
Still waiting on those guitar playthroughs...
Absolute brutal!!!
Easily the best drummer in the core scene
If only your band had a better singer. That's the only thing holding you back from reaching greatness. Guitar work and drumming are phenomenal.
Gosh man, too good.
LEGEND
This and hansha is so sick
I love the bass fill at 1:17
such creative ,
much talent
He's a frickin machine man!
he's so talented!
He reminds me of haywire from prison break
Luke Oxendale nah'm sayin
Luke Oxendale yes!!!!! Holy shit!!!!
Yeah.. Love that dude bruh 🤘🤘🤘
Amazing!
I've been waiting for this
i love to see how this guy fully concentrate by bending his head....and eyes on the space between chopper and ride....
So glad I stumbled upon this guy. Sick fuckin beats.
The best skill . I like your skill
1:28 what's that machine to his right?
That's amazing!

if youve ever seen any of the live videos of him playing, you can see he is absolutely ripped, so yeah his arms are fucking battery powered
Had me in the first half.
remember when ppl thought joey jordisson was a good drummer?... yeah that happened...
Joey IS a good Drummer.. My favorite.. But Chris is not real... :D
Joey is a great drummer, i think what you mean is " Remember when ppl thought Joey was the best drummer?"
On that we can already agree!
My drum god started off as lars.
This comment has been negated.
Right he used to be my idol when I was in high school
@@lickmybolgusNZ Lars was a decent drummer in the 80s and early 90s, but age was not kind to him
0:36 to 0:51 is just so refreshing
My dudeeeeeeeeeeee. Yas. \m/ \m/
0:12 For the life of me, i cannont wrap my head around how he achieves that sound on the bass pedals. Like is he just speeding up or hitting on slightly different intervals or?
I like the way you hit them drums
Love this! 😱😍
He's one of the best drummers out there!!!
Please release the album as instrumental only version!
I'm holding back tears.
No drum triggers and edits. You're changing the playthrough landscape, Chris!
Literally drum machine.
