I remember all the theories/fanart about how the old doctor was this emotionless calculating man that treated people like chess pieces with no regard to their lives. This was such an interesting reveal. He was always a good person at heart but ultimately his decision to prioritize his people over the people of Terra (even though he genuinely cared for them), leading to the end of Babel was so good I was hanging off your every word. Just got back into AK after a 2yrs break and catching up on events and reveals has been so interesting thanks to videos like these.
Gaul is France the guy who was in charge of Gaul before it's defeat was Emperor Corsica which is a reference to Napoleon who was from the island of Corsica.
@thenoobjesus3102 I mean Lucian/Phantom, Mousse and even Doc from the R6 collab have been associated with Gaul not to mention the War of the 4 Emperors is pretty clear reference to the Napolionic wars.
People thought that they can get a more detailed breakdown of Babel event story in a short time. They *thought.* *Slaps 2 hours long video* Take it or leave it.
So in my understanding Dokuta started the Golden Age of Aegir, Given the Teekaz the Black Crown and Give Laterano AI God. So in my theory Dokuta will make a global war that will "end" Terra to be absorbed by Originum to dodge the "ancient ones" and respawn everyone again after they pass.
Thanks for this retrospective. I was freshly coming back after 2 years of quitting and were very overwhelm with all of the new lore. This is a great vids that tell me things and context I much needed
The tale of babel is truly tragic... No, the humanities are tragic. We live by our choices and goals, and we all die in pursuit of those while also cause suffering along the way.
Please please PLEASE keep making Arknights videos. Your insights are pretty much the sentiment of everyone who is interested in Arknights and its story but don't take the time to read the story as they play. They are really amazing.
Came by, dropped a like, immediately pulling out because I don't want to cry to this tragedy again. Dropping a comment to help boost the algorithm and because I'm sure this is peak anyway. Edit: I couldn't stop myself, I'm watching this and by the end of this hopefully my heart will be intact.
After watching this, I completely agree with your views on this event. Theresa, Theresis, and the Doctor all failed; each of them lacked something. But I want to say something, especially about the Doctor. You implied that the Doctor should have told Kal'tsit and Theresa about the originium and his research. But I think I understand how and why the Doctor didn't do that. First, he was probably worried about their reaction. He is the creator of originium, the creator of the thing they hate the most. For example, if someone said to you that he developed a weapon to kill your family just because he wanted to protect "his race," you would probably be mad at him and would not work with him anymore. Second, the burden is too big. This is about your races, your own people. I see why the Doctor wanted to keep the burden on himself. Imagine you are the last of humanity, and you have one chance to prove that you can save them all. I think that's also why he chose to believe in the Priestess. Third, he is still a researcher at heart. What I mean by this is that he thinks somewhat logically. Even if he told them, what could they do? The technological difference between the Doctor and the others is just too big. And that also influenced his decision, thinking that if his races cannot stand up against this outside threat, what good can these undeveloped races do against them? At the end of the day, it's still a flawed way of thinking; I agree with you there. So many possibilities and questions: What if the Doctor had worked together with Theresa? Why didn't he go straight to the Priestess to ask for help? This is probably my second favorite event in Arknights, topped only by the Lone Trail event. So much character drama; each of them has individual problems and dilemmas. Side note: Man, I wish they had explored Savage too, lol Also, i always think that originium is kinda like the second impact on evangelion, where everyone, and everything became one, in the shared dimension.
i mean, from the beginning, theresa and kal knew that the doctor was one of the people who made originium, and originium was never MEANT to kill terrans, it just sort of happened. but other than that i agree with what you said. the doctor is a very flawed character, and while he is very empethatic, and very selfless, he is incredibly narcissistic, surprisingly so. originium isnt just something that he has to take care of, it hasnt been for a very long time. it effects terrans just as much as, if not, more that his people. so, logically, theresa(which he saw as the representitive of terrans) should have known more about originium. but again, the way he saw it, this was something that HE had to deal with. something that ONLY he could handle. it wasnt. which is why he failed.
This was a great story summarization. Thanks for wording out problems I always had with those revolutionaries and politicians gave me a lot of prespective specially when you started critisizing the characters
Amazing retrospective! I love the written quips you threw between parts and how you covered even details that are not covered in the event itself. But Please fix the audio mixing in future content, I could barely hear you over the music in some parts.
You missed something important at the end, I think. While the criticism towards Doctor was legitimate, we need to consider that Doctor was under some sort of brainwash the whole time, called "Lynchpin of Substantia Griseia", planted through "Debate" possibly by Priestess. Not straight up controlling his actions, but rather guided him to ensure Originium Project always continues. Sooner or later, Doctor would succumb to it. Its progress was 15% when Doctor woke up from his 13000 years of slumber, then peaked at 35% when Doctor betrayed Theresa, before returning to 0% when Theresa deleted his memories. The whole thing was a ruse, as the ending had been decided the moment Kal'tsit and Theresa woke him up. Perhaps the show had always meant to play from start to end and only after that did Terrans and Doctor could finally forge their own future without the First Civilliation's or Priestess' control.
You didn't bring up Kal'sit, who represents a rather big reason Kazdel didn't like Babel. She was literally the person who united the other countries to destroy Kazdel after all.
i dont think the general population of kazdel really knew about her. no one(other than the people involved) brings her up, even though, she would be a big reason why people would hold contempt towards babel. people knew her as some kind of mage during the reign of Ylis, and not who she was. i dont think most knew her real identity as kal'tsit.
About the error in Originium. If i remember correctly, in Chapter 14 when Kal'tsit having a conversation with Logos, Amiya and Doctor talking about Amnamnam ( The firts Originium ) she mentioned about the Teekaz made some sort of contract with Originium to fend off intruder, the elder and the ancient. In exchange for powerful arts and witchcraft, they cursed their whole race with the whole Myriad Souls thing ( they can't rest even if they die ) and cursed Terra with Oripathy. You know something like contract with the devil and it's kinda ironic knowing what the sarkaz are based on. The hate towards Priestess is kinda like those sarkaz in kazdel need "someone or something" to put the blame on. So if you don't wanna be like those sarkaz stop hating the wife. Take it with a grain of salt. But, What i know for sure is Do not fall for the Sarkaz propaganda.
