So cool dude!! IMO this is the coolest fish channel bc of your love for native fish which being from south western pa I’ve caught most these fish all my life and even kept a few myself in the past. And they are soo soo cool to watch their behaviors we don’t get to see in the wild much. And they are some of the prettiest and fascinating fish around! You don’t have to go to
South America to find beautiful and aggressive fish
I agree with everything you said about native fish! Sunfish have amazing personalities and swim right up to the glass when they're comfortable with you! Some of the most aggressive fish I have are my native fish! I love to showcase the native fish because I don't think people realize the fish you can keep that are just outside your door!

I setup a native fish tank finally
I’ve always wanted a native tank. The longear sunfish would definitely be on the list. Also a school of perch would be awesome too.
Native fish tanks just have a different feel to them! It's easier for people to relate to them since we've all been fishing and seen these fish before!!
The thing is sadly in my state its illegal to have native fish in an aquarium without a license. Otherwise id definitely do it.

@@chrismccune1523 I found a loophole in laws where I live, I can buy them but not catch the unless they are bait fish so a lot I can still keep as “bait I
Here in Wisconsin we can have them but they count towards our bag limits. It's worth it!!!
This tank is amazing! I never thought of keeping local fish from my area. Maybe because I live in the city I guess. But these are great!
I'm sure even in the city there are some spots around you that you could find awesome fish! It's amazing whats out there when you look!
Either the Mottled Sculpin or Rainbow Darter for my native palladarium tank, currently has guppies, crayfish, and snakes, those would be an amazing addition to my tank, DONE!!
The most interesting thing I saw that I could house right now is the mosquito fish!! I done!!!
I have a little school of mosquito fish!! They're awesome! And they're live-bearers so they're relatively easy to breed!

The tank setup with the way you have the driftwood laid out is honestly the perfect condition that I look for when targeting the sunfish for sport in the wild🤙

Love Jonah's Aquarium!! I've never....not even once...received unhealthy fish from them. HIGHLY recommend them!

That’s going to be an awesome tank once those long ear get to growing and their colors start showing up. I’ve always wanted to have some sort of sunfish. It’d be between them or the green sunfish. Done sir 👍🏻

Driftwood in aquariums are always a winner to me, especially with the rocks it looks great. Those sunfish are also awesome, thanks for giving some tips, might need to get some soon.

When I was younger I had a long eared sun fish that rivaled any salt water fish I had. He was gorgeous.

The Rainbow Darters are a great choice!
Flagfish done. Also love the tank. I have had longer that I raised from babies under an inch long spawn 4 times. 5 or 6 babies survived and have eaten the subsequent spans, even with me feeding them 2 times daily.
That's good to know! I have a tank set up for when I do eventually get some babies I can try to move them and grow them out!

SC Fish Keeping Awesome! Originally had 5, but now I’m down to 3 because the one little one got sucked up in the filter and the other decided to jump out of the tank 😢. But those were kind of on me because I didn’t have a lid for the tank. But now I do! And the 3 of them are thriving in a 5.5 gallon aquarium with a 10 gallon filter. Also added a tiny baby crawfish! So far I’m loving the native tank and soon I will be upgrading to a 37 gallon and getting some sort of sunfish!
Longears are by far my favorite... would love to get my hands on some 😍

This is great. My nephews just caught both species of fish out of a little private pond with nets and I took a couple of each and put them in my aquarium yesterday!

DONE! Hybrid bluegill or black crappie. Setting up my 110 gal tub pond in my lure painting shop tomorrow based off the one you built for your porch sitting area, gonna stock it with local freshwater breeds from central Illinois!
That would be awesome to be able to finish with some lures and look over to see a pond of local fish!!

Well when I get my 75 gallon I now know where to get my Florida gar. I do have a 5 gallon right now and a Everglade pygmy sunfish would be a amazing fish to try and keep. Done

Darn! Only three years too late! Hope Jonah's is still doing business. I've wanted to keep a few North American natives for quite some time. Not so much interested in the catfish species, but am really up on sunfish and small warm water species.
I also ordered some longear sunfish from jonahs Aquarium. They came in great and have all be doing good. I have them in a tank inside and I decided to move one outside to my pond, (which isn’t a very massive pond) and it has grown double the size as the other ones. Great fish

i have some long eared sunfish and yeah they are some of the prettiest fish in fresh water, make great pets. 1 of em is about a pound

done would get black bulled heads too go with my some over my other native fish including spotted spotted bass, blue gill , sunfish. Or Pygmy sunfish too go with my my native minnows

@Sc Fish Keeping Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Goggly eye perch and several native turtle species, I've also kept a lot of catfish and gar in the past, some of the most amazing fish I've ever kept, right from my backyard!

I have a 300 hill stream tank and I could use some of those red fins. On the list though yellow fin shiners and done

Scape in the 125 looks 🔥. Ironically saw their post with the grass pickerel before this video. I’d like a grass pickerel because it is like a small pike that stays relatively small. I have a pike but eventually it will outgrow my tank and will need to be moved into my pond. Also I can’t find any wild grass pickerel in my area. Thanks and DONE.
Grass Pickerel are a perfect fish if you want a native tank with attitude and aggression without the size!!
