    I'd amost left you a comment last night, on a previous video, because I've realised that I was missing you and a month has passed since your last one. Then I decided to wait for the next day and oh, what a delightful surprise to discover your springtime video and seeing you again, busy bees as always, spreading love, seeds, smiles, beauty and humanity around you. Seeing you is a balm for the heart. Prenez soin de vous.

    Ways to get rid of slugs, used coffee grounds, used tea grounds or use teabags. If you want to keep snails away take ground egg shells and sprinkle them around any plants that snails eat. Deer are repelled by egg shell smell if you have an apple tree or any tree that deer chew the bark off of it will repel deer. Love to see the beautiful multi colored poppies. Thank you for all your hard work and effort, and making these videos for our enjoyment. It is greatly enjoyed and appreciated.

      coffee grounds might not be a good idea, it acidifies the soil too much especially when its already nutrient rich filled with fresh manure, it is good at reacidifying soil though! a more proactive approach is just to have a a few chickens and tie its pen near the crops you wish to have defended, add a rooster and tie him to a porch near the hens, it provides a natural alarm clock and he scares off other larger animals. A chicken coop that allows the hens free reign across your garden helps you to get eggs and some meat too while protecting it from bugs as much as they can. Butchering chickens is also a very humanizing experience, it teaches people that life is sacred and having a more direct connection to where death is taken to sustain one's life humbles a man. 2 or 3 olive trees somewhere and your family is set for a good life, the only thing you need to buy is just milk, flour, yeast, and some cheese, Then you have all you need for good and healthy eating with eggs, chicken meat, all kinds of vegetables and herbs, hearty glass of milk, a nice wheel of cheese, all kinds of bread, great sources of fat from the chickens and the olives with olives being a great way to make soap with, and you can go to the market for the occasional sweet or other meats like pork or beef or fish.
      One of the best ways to wake up is to a rooster call and dousing your entire body with cold water and to end it with a glass of warm tea, just heaven.

    Hi Rebecca. We have chickens and they just free roam selected parts of the garden, depending on the time of year.
    What we noticed is, the areas where they roam are pretty much free of slugs and snails.
    We used to get horrendous damage to young leaves.
    Perhaps find a way to balance the chickens being freerange, and the times they have access to selected areas?

    Lovely to have a new video from you. I certainly understand the conflict in filming these videos and simply living your lives. Finding that balance is important.
    I look forward to seeing how the barn comes along.
    If you live where high winds come with storms I highly recommend putting a wood frame inside poly tunnel for reinforcement. You’ll stand a better chance of its survival than just the concrete blocks.

    C’est un peu dommage de vivre en France et d’acheter des semences DT Brown (UK). When I lived in the UK, I bought English products when they were available, which is the case for French seeds in France. I think it is a gesture of respect for the country that welcomes you on their land.😢

    • @LivingintheLoire
      @LivingintheLoire  Год назад

      You should see what's in our cupboards. Brown sauce, Marmite, PG Tips, if it ain't British we don't buy it! We only grow British veg for British people! Did you use British humour when you spent time in the UK? My guess is you didn't and were and still are a bit of a Karen.

    • @mg.pascale
      @mg.pascale Год назад

      @@LivingintheLoire, I am sorry you take it that way. What I learnt in the UK is the value of feedback. It was just a « billet d’humeur » as we call it over here, prompted by what I saw in the video. But perhaps, you have a partnership with DT Brown and that’s why you show it on the video. That’s fine and it just needs to be said. By the way, I have not insulted you and I did not learn the meaning of « Karen » whilst I was in the UK, probably because I was welcome by kind people. I can see now that « Karen is a pejorative slang for an angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman », so much for taking feedback with British humour…😂

    Great to see you all! Gosh the garden is going to be amazing, you've both put so much work into it! And those poppies!!! Stunning... Rebecca, save all of your eggshells, dry them out a bit and crush them up a bit. then sprinkle around the edges of your garden beds. Stops all the slithery bugs, it really does work. And added bonus of a bit of calcium getting into the soil! I hope the weighted down polytunnel stays up, I reckon it will with all of those blocks around it! Mine is weighted as well, rough winds just decimate them otherwise. Looking forward to your chat on Sunday, and congratulations on the channel's brilliant growth :) Much love and big hugs xxx

    Sweet corn is one of my favorite vegetables to freeze after harvest. That's probably because it retains all its natural sugars.
    I've been told if you put several small jars of beer out in the garden, it will attract the slugs. 🤷 I don't know. Colorado doesn't seem to have slugs. Too dry I think.
