@@eternitysshore yea a bummer but it's fixable. There are several you tube videos out there where guys redid entire transoms from the inside yet retaining the outer skin of the transom. In your case the hatch topside
Hey Jeff, really hope that holds up, but every Marine soundproofing installation guide recommends fasteners and glue. The combination of heat and humidity in a bilge wreaks havoc on standard glue including construction adhesives.
@@Skzstoll good to know. At least The first glue lasted 2 years. And it was interesting that the sound proof cow people themselves recommended what I did. They knew it was a marine application
I don't remember exactly but I think at idle speed it reduced the noise by about 10-15 decibels. I used a free app to measure before and after but I don't think I used it in a video, although I might have? That was 2 years ago.
FYI - This was the original sound proofing video - ruclips.net/video/LZ512G-KYFY/видео.htmlsi=mA1NWZhKNCccVN3i
LOL...the end of this one, love it. 😁
Good timing!
Pretty ambitious project especially by yourself. Is the hatch wood cored thus the soft spots?
Yes I believe so. Lots of water I’m sure got in there. It’s a big bummer

Just an fyi, but that will have over a 500 psi bond strength.. gonna need “one arm” to get that apart to repair coring!!
Yeah I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
Sure hope this works. The spray on 3M adhesive doesn't.
Totally true on my end as well! I tried it before moving to this solution.

How much does this reduce the engine noise when running? Thinking about trying to upgrade my boat…
