Thousand of boats his morning at Crab Island in Destin FL for Memorial Day Weekend.
I expect this size to double by 2pm.
Also hundreds of large sharks gather just South of Okaloosa Island just off the beach.
Lets take the boat out and go stand in the water.
If your gunna stay on the boat might aswell do it in your driveway
The other day I brought my Sea Doo out and laid on the couch. It was so awesome. Good workout, too!
It's called socializing. You should try it some time
People take their cars to places and then get out of the car to stand on the ground. Same concept but with a vehicle on water. 🤯
It's kind of what you do when it is 100 degrees.
So that's what you do with your boat in FL. Sit in a big boat parking lot drinking beer and stand in the water to pee.

They are very close, but surprisingly there's no attacks
They swim on between people. Within 1 foot sometimes. I grew up in Pensacola.
Not close at all otherwise they would have shown you. They had the drone to do it with but the sharks weren't even close.
They are redfish and did notice a sheepshead.

Lots of them have socks on the water., the boat ramps can be a nightmare tho.

What a gyp. Show the crowds, and then separately show sharks, obviously in deeper water, but not show proximity to one another.
The panhandle has some of the nicest beaches in the all the country!!
@@off2geo totally agree! I live on the east coast of Florida and it's a "night and day" difference with water clarity and even the sand is much nicer on the Gulf side too! The only advantage I would say are the surfable waves on the East which are non existent on the Gulf
Yes I live in pensacola Florida...the beaches on Florida gulf coast are amazing...alot of it is considered wildlife preservation

Did you know Destin didn't get electricity until 1946. And people still come. I guess soon it will be like one of those Indian trains, Push harder one more in panama shitty Beach and 2 more in destin.

Was in Destin the last week in March and I saw 3 monster mako sharks off Ft Walton beach pier which is pry a mile or 2 away from Crab Island. The were Atleast 12 ft if not more. I love Destin I will be living near their very soon moving from Chicago I’m done with this murdering city and the snow!!!

I live here but have never considered going to crab island. I have friends that enjoy it. I don't want to stand in water so many people are peeing in. Not my idea of a good time. Heard they set up "pee zones" for memorial day weekend. Yeah no
the only thing more insane than setting up "pee zones" are the folks who would elect to out themselves and use the pee zones. anonymity is the stealth pissers only salvation.

Been to beautiful, fun Crab Island every year for >10 yrs. Never seen a shark there! Only people having fun! Going next week and it’s the highlight of my vacation!
Ive been there twice now, going back next week. My family and I went on memorial weekend in 2019. We didnt see any sharks in the crab island area but the next day we went to the beach, (east jetties) and boy was it active around 4-5pm. We saw sharks, dolphins and sea turtles. We did have to get out of the water because there were way to many stingrays! But it was awesome to watch though.
Red Neck Yacht Club and a huge group of sharks. Look like tadpoles in a creek from way up. Awesome drone footage. Great video

Reminds me of the Sand Bar parties we would have near Lake Havasu. Hundreds of boats nearly touching, in water less than a meter deep. Heaven.

I lived in Ft Walton Bch from 1966 to 1969 Destin is beautiful, was not so crowded in those days. Don't really miss the humidity or the bugs though

Born and raised in South Florida and have been swimming and diving around sharks all my life, zero issues. I'll bet the pavement pounders up north are freaking out watching this though.
Um, why would we? I can swim miles, drive a power boat and know how to behave around dangerous sealife. Woman, you don't sound bright, we have LOTS of sharks here and have been swimming all of our lives, too.

Crab island is what sets Destin apart from a lot of beaches. It is pretty fun, despite all of the negative comments. They also have a huge area set up that has inflatables on the water, slides etc…floating restaurants, and the water gets super shallow, like knee deep. Great thing to experience for sure. Ive been there twice and going next week. We usually rent a boat for a full day and just relax. Great time!
I used to work at the local paper in Destin as a reporter and once wrote a story about how all that urine in such a small, confined space might be harmful to the swimmers at Crab Island. Turns out, my story concluded, there was basically no health threat at all because of the high concentration of salt.
I had enlisted a local health official and dragged her down there on a hot summer afternoon when all the boaters were there. (She was a good sport about it.)
Her water analysis results: elevated levels of harmful bacteria were nonexistent. In the end the story kind of bombed. Oh well.

Years ago I was there and a hammerhead swam within five feet of me. It was a small one thank god. Things are a little more crowded out there now, but still a fun time.
Hammerhead are basically harmless to humans

Used to be a fun place to hang out . 35 years ago. To many people now and the Harbor Grand ruined the pass. Bought a house on the forgotten coast. Panacea. Its what Destin was like 50 years ago. Just a fishing village.
Lived in Destin a couple of years ago in a condo on the harbor. My entertainment was watching these parties turn to arrests around about the late afternoon 🤪

The sharks are typically found outside the jetties, about 100 ft or more off the beach. With that many people and boats, it’s pretty rare to see sharks there unless it’s early morning or late late afternoon

Crab Island is a shallow sandbar surrounded by deeper channels. The sharks were in the deeper areas surrounding Crab Island.
I been to Destin Florida back in 2013 and 2015 and I hadn’t gone back they’re since 2015.

Don't know who'd be worse, a shark or a Karen showing up when people are minding their own business and having fun.
Those sharks are always out there. I was there in 2019 and took a helicopter ride. Only then did my wife and I see how many sharks and dolphins were hanging out a couple hundred yards from where we swam.
Boat traffic jam in the making. Give me wide open places with less people or the mountains anytime.

I’ve visited there and you do have some great spots to visit. Having lived in Panama City for several years I used to say the same thing about tourist. Now that I live in Georgia, I’m the tourist. But oh how I love the Gulf coast and boating out to Shell Island in PCB for the day. Such beauty and so peaceful. Not sure you can go there anymore though due to military exercises.

A great white was caught and released at nearby Navarre Beach in 2019 🦈

@@maggiemae7539 It was caught by fisherman on the beach, brought to shore, pictured and released back into the surf. Juvenile white shark. Another was caught at Panama City Beach several years ago and released, which is the law.

I was there doing a distance swimming camp 15 years ago and there was Dolphins swimming everyday with us in big packs...Good news no Shark's if Dolphins are around... 👍👍

@@AndrewD624 I was working in Charleston S.C. in 2015 when they kept having all those Shark attacks on the East Coast every week...That Was scary swimming....Several attacks were beaches next to one's I was swimming at....
