    You could show people that they need to have no tension in their body. Any excess tension anywhere in the body can keep you from speed building any more. This is an exact science of how to train yourself to play a note , relax tell you to check for tension,hit the next note.

    There was a point where I was just going as fast as possible (after warming up) even if it got sloppy, and to my surprise as the days went on it started to get more and more refined as I got used to the speed.
    There’s definitely merit in learning when you’re fast rather than always thinking “i must be slow to be fast”

    Lukas, that's awesome help man! I've only heard one other person say anything like this - I wish I'd been told when I was younger but it's good to know now from somebody who can prove it!

      great it helped you man, this way you should be able to hit the higher tempos way faster and then you can spend as long as you want cleaning it up and making it perfect

    I've also found that copious amounts of caffeine also help with speed.

      True! I stopped 4 months ago with caffeine so need to practice bit more now, haha

      so, you were totally right. my usual alternate picking routine was 100-200 lately and I felt stuck (just basic zeroes on sixth string). I thought that there was my ceiling. No I've tried playing 150-240 and my hand kept pulling it off. My elbow is burning now, but that fact that I could play short bursts at this speed amazed my. I need to practice more in higher speeds, because it seems like a totally different skill although it's closely related to playing slow. Thanks again, this video changed a lot for me@@LukasKocka

    Is that rubber band on your right hand? What does it do?

      It's on his hand to practice keeping his hand closed I suppose. Supposed to be able to play faster without fanning out your fingers

      @@n1k135 Jim Root does that too I guess..... I've seen him in videos, with a rubber band on his picking hand.....

      I think it is about keeping the hand closed. Kirk Hammett tapes his hand for a similar reason.

      @@LukasKocka maybe something like important tips for creativity with 7 strings, besides only chugging the lowest string 😂
      Transitions between rhythm and lead guitar would be interesting for me

      That would be amazing to have some good quality lessons for 7 strings on here! There is a huge lack of quality 7 string lessons and an over abundance of 6 string lessons. The whole not just chugging on the lowest string and learning to be creative and efficient on a 7 string would be absolutely amazing for a change!

    I think that's right. Fast is not slow. You have to try to play fast in order to play fast (well)...

  • @MCHH-ml2qq
    @MCHH-ml2qq Год назад +1

    Playing fast on guitar isnt that difficult, what separates a fast guitar player from a true master is controlling the attack and precision you put into the instrument. A fast guitar player is just chaos but controlled speed of not just alternate picking but the entire spectrum of techniques you use on guitar is what separates a master player from a party trick.
