- This is an “old stock” Woodward Ranch agate. The ranch was known to have spectacular rock hounding, but that was before I got involved in the sport. I’m glad I got my hands on this specimen because it is beautiful!
I'll be waiting to see a finished cabochon from this agate!
I hope to get one done soon 🤞. Thanks as always for watching!
Agree - looks like dried daisies. Beautiful and can’t wait to see what you make of it!
Thank you for the feedback Michele!
I see the flowers! Awesome! I’d like to make a pendant out of one of those slabs as is.
That would be a cool pendant!
That is one gorgeous piece of rock! I would face polish that and proudly display it.
I think that’s what I’m going to do Matthew. Thanks for the feedback!
Wow! Gotta see tumbled bits and cabs of that!!!
I would love to see that as well! Hopefully soon…..🤞
That is one beautiful rock! I wish I was around in that era of rockhounding as well!
Wouldn’t that have been great?!?! Oh well, we at least have the Kokernot.
Gourgeous!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
That’s real nice Scott 😎
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it! It was a pretty awesome agate for sure.
I went to the Lindsay ranch before it closed. But didn’t find anything special. But met an older gentleman that gave me and my daughter fossils that he found up by Fort Worth. He had a pickup load of boxes! Haha!
There are some cool folks out there in West Texas!
Epic flower agate!
I’m glad you liked it Mike!
That's some beautiful stuff!
Thanks Rob, I’m glad you think so! Keep up the great work, I love watching your videos 😁
@@spwinaustin Thanks, Scott. I'm surprised yours haven't taken off more. You do a good job.
Thank you for saying that, it means a lot coming from you! You are, after all, the “Gold Standard” of lapidary videos 😁.
@@spwinaustin Ha! I wish. I'm just faking my way through this.
@@MichiganRocks You can’t fool me!😆 I can tell you have mastered the lapidary arts. Seriously though I should thank you for getting me into this fun world of making RUclips rock videos. In fact, I modeled my entire format around what I learned from you early on in my rock polishing journey. Once I found your channel I immediately started going back and watching all of your earlier videos in an attempt to catch up. I’ll never forget the one with you and the little chipmunk 😂. Anyway, I decided I would put out videos in such a way that if someone accidentally discovered one of mine they could easily start binging all of my earlier ones if they so desired. That’s why I make mine short and follow standardized patterns. Of course my OCD helps as well!🤣
Hmmm. You could make a series of matching round cabs for a bracelet. Would look like pressed flowers under glass
Thanks for the cool suggestion Linda!
@@spwinaustin yw! it's an unusual opportunity to create a series of matching cabs. don't see that very often
Cathedral Agate, pretty rare.
I agree, this looks a lot like the Cathedral Agate from Chihuahua, Mexico!
It was definitely a cool agate. Thanks for watching!
That's one amazing, gorgeous rock!❤️ You said you were going to tumble one of those slabs, how thick are they? Thanks 😀
Thanks Diane! I usually cut them around 3/8” thick.
Very nice. How are you sure this is from the Woodward? Did you get it from some one who collected it? I am saying this because identical agates can be found in Chihuahua, New Mexico and California.
Thanks! The person I got it from actually collected it themselves at the ranch. It was an older member of the AGMS.
If not possible to get this material, you definately keep the heel for your collection.
I definitely will, thanks. I have one more to cut. Hopefully it will be as good or better 🤞
I thought Woodward ranch was closed.
It is.
Yup, definitely for rock hounding. Thankfully there are other ranches in the area that let us hunt.
