      @@guy.britton I like it.. you just cant push them to hard because they dont have a ton of headroom and can distort a little bit.. I never have a problem with them as long as you gain stage them right.. it has a more body than the 76 to my ears.. they are a good combo for tracking, I dont have any complaints but I know a lot of people trash them being that they are cheaper remake units..I didnt buy these expecting them to sound like a authentic UA comp because they are not, but they have the vibe and I never had any complaints from clients,...

    Very informative...great song. Need a bit more umph on the track to match your deft vocal uplift work. Great post...regards.

    Great!!! Last week i bought a klark 76 & klark EQ ! Both of them are awesome , but i have a problem when i finish the printing… I can feel how the print it has a delay or something like that…. Is that normal ? How can i fix that ?

    • @guy.britton
      @guy.britton  2 года назад +2

      Some latency is natural as there will be a roundtrip from the audio leaving your interface and coming back in. You can minimize this by recording the print with your buffer setting as low as your computer will allow.
      In some cases you might have to manually align the printed track. A good trick for this is to add a very short click to the original track (before the actual audio begins) and then record this click back down in the print. You can then align the clicks as this is generally much easier to do than lining up the first transient of a processed / unprocessed vocal for example.

    Great video! I'm waiting on my Klark 76 to arrive and also ordered the 2A as well! How were you able to mute multiple plugins at once in Logic?

    • @guy.britton
      @guy.britton  2 года назад

      Thanks! Let me know how you get on with the 2A, I’m interested to try it myself. As for bypassing multiple plugins, you can assign a custom key command in Logic to ‘bypass all plugins’. In my case I’ve assigned cmd + ctrl + shift + B to bypass all the plugins on a selected channel strip.

    I really hate the knobs on the wa73 but the sound is as good as you could possibly get for less than 1k i keep hearing the ART VOCAL II is better but idk i'd rather have a neve clone imo. Plus clients like to see gear like this when they first walk in for a studio session. Anyways, I have all the klark teknik compressors and eq but I feel like you really have to drive the inputs and reduction knobs on the units to get anything going and I know my gain staging is on point and calibrated but it still barely moves the VU even though i'm getting nearly +1DB or more. All in all if i could redo my purchases I would just buy the Wa73 + KT-2a and A AKG414xliii or nueman tlm 103 and that would be a very very good radio ready sound out of the box.

    The big question is how to u connect your gear so you can do that after the recording is done. I never can find videos on that. Running out of the daw into analog gear and then back in to record the new version

    • @guy.britton
      @guy.britton  2 года назад +3

      Firstly you'll need an interface with enough outputs and inputs to allow you to separately route the audio out of your DAW and back in. After that it's a case of physically connecting one of the outputs from your interface to the input of the hardware you are using, then connecting the output of the hardware back to an input on the interface.
      Most DAWs have some kind of utility plugin that allows you to route it through a track in your DAW (I touch on this in Logic at 7:11 in the video)

    Would you say the WA73EQ is better then the Golden Age Project Premier 73?

    • @guy.britton
      @guy.britton  2 года назад

      I’ve not tried the Golden Age one myself so I couldn’t say for sure. There’s probably some shootouts online that go in detail on that!

    How do you deal with the noise introduced by the 1176?

    • @guy.britton
      @guy.britton  11 месяцев назад

      The noise isn’t usually too much of a problem but if it’s audible then a bit of subtle gating is enough to clean it up. I find the gate on Waves Rvox to be the simplest and most musical sounding for vocals!

  • @itspluhs

    do you have to have a pre in order to use a compressor i have a uad apollo twin

    • @guy.britton
      @guy.britton  Год назад +1

      You don't need a preamp - you could run a signal from one of the line outputs on your apollo twin into a compressor, and then from the output of the compressor into an input on your apollo.
