Quentin Tarantino is an exception, but he has so much to say. He is a critic as well, so he has to talk to the public, but he is also trying to educate us all about film.
It wouldn't surprise me if he entertained the idea of making a SW movie. Same way how Tarantino supposedly entertained the idea of making a Star Trek movie. But answering either yes or no would just lead to debates and pointless headlines from news articles these days.
He paused so long there, I think he realized it is too much to ponder here, and any answer would require a lengthy analysis, so he passed. Other passes were just to NOT tick off fans by naming favorites.

The “pass” on the Star Wars film was so smart. With how much creatives have to say on it, to have the current Best Director winner pause, and just say “pass” is so refreshing. I love how mysterious Nolan remains after all this time. He let’s the work do the talking. In my view that’s the sign of a true artist.
Well said and I agree!
Most directors, and writers too, have very little time for press. Perhaps it was the quick nature of this that got him to agree.

You’re absolutely right. True confidence is silent.
exactly, one of the reasons I like Kubrick so much as well
I was very surprised when he said yes to watching films on smartphones or laptops
I think it’s because he means on like rewatches, but watching it for your first time should be in a theatre.
I really found it nice, he is not forcing someone to watch in his preferred format.
