Everything about my blepharoplasty plastic surgery!

- Plastic surgery can be a hot topic, but today I want to share my experience with Blepharoplasty surgery. A Blepharoplasty is a type of surgery that removes excess skin from the eyelids. After discussing with my doctor how this was affecting my eyesight, we both decided that this surgery would help with my peripheral vision. It was an "easy" surgery with minimal pain that I could handle with some Tylenol. I'm happy and pleased with how it looks as well as how much it helped with my sight!

You look FANTASTIC! I had an upper blepharoplasty when I was 60. I am 75 now, and it still looks good. The best thing about it is that even when I am tired, I don't look it.
Thank you for being so open and sharing your experiences. You look absolutely amazing. And having better vision is just icing on the cake!
you said it! I'm so happy my vision isn't impaired anymore. thanks for stopping by!
@@BethDjalali I had it 2 weeks ago, but strictly for cosmetic reasons (in conjunction with a face/neck lift). Just curious, how long did the lid tightness, lid numbness & residual swelling take to totally clear up? I still have all 3 but know I'm only 2 week post-surgery. Just curious what your experience was...I've heard anything from 3-4 weeks, to 4-6 weeks to 3 months.
I had the same surgery earlier this year on upper eyelids only. My vision was better the moment he told me to open my eyes. I couldn’t believe it! I was awake during the procedure but never felt a thing. He wanted me awake so he could do his best to ensure I could close my eyes. Recovery was about the same as you described. I just turned 60. It’s wonderful to put on mascara and eye shadow and not have it bleed under my eyes! I would do it again in a heartbeat. My insurance would only pay for upper eyes.
I'm so happy to hear you're pleased with the results!
I had this done last summer after the same conversation with my eye doctor. I am in the 88% that is happy with the results, particularly from a vision standpoint.
right?! nothing is more important than your eyesight!
Thank you Beth for this perfectly timed video. I'm scheduled for my blepharoplasty surgery on December 19 and this helped me understand things even better. Also, I feel a bit more relaxed about it all. This is just what I needed right now. Keep up the great work you do. 💐
Cheryll
Good luck! You'll do great!
Thank you for this video. I just had blepharoplasty last week and was looking like a train wreck. I think I am healing just the same as your photos showed. You look beautiful. I have hope now.
You'll be fine! That first week is a bit rough, but after that recover speeds up.
Did you have any itching after the surgery and how did you handle that?
I had my uppers done last February and I'm still very pleased. I could see my lid out of the corner of my eye. I didn't even ask for insurance to cover it as I wanted it done immediately and it was only $1800.
My husband gave me a breast reduction and lift at the same time! Super pleased with it as well, went from DDD to C. And in my 5'1" frame it made a big difference.
I bet you are feeling brand spanking new!
I am curious where you live that it's that reasonable in price?

I was talking about this very thing this morning. Thank you for walking us through your experience. I actually had no idea that a doctor would recommend the procedure due to vision impairment! That is a great new piece of info!
Glad it was helpful!
I had a full facelift with an under eye bleph 11 years ago and I’ve never regretted it once. I’ve done nothing else since and I still feel I look good for my age of 67. I’m just starting to get a bit of a jowl now….might have a redo someday…..
did ur doc bill medicare ? or out of pocket? $
Thank you Beth for sharing. I’m going to have my doctor check this out for me. I had breast reduction at 61 due to back, neck & shoulder pain which has made a huge difference. I didn’t know insurance would cover the cost for this procedure. You are forever beautiful. Happy Holidays 🕊
I have to have this as I have OPMD. Late onset Muscular Dystrophy. It’s a weird one and effects the eyelids first. Thank you for covering this as I have been very nervous.
Marie
I'm glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for sharing Beth. I was disappointed that you didn't do a side by side picture of before/after. I would have liked to see how much your eyelids drooped prior to surgery.
Honestly, my eyelids weren't noticeably droopy.
You are a very brave and honest woman to share your eye surgery experience.
You look fabulous Beth! Blephs are actually very practical, not only for looking and feeling better mentally, but ptosis can be hereditary and improve your field of vision and diminish lateral vision. Failing the test is good! Mean’s you’ll be a safer driver too. Congratulations! Be well, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve had cosmetic surgery and I feel great about it. I’m 65 and wish I’d done it when I was a little younger.
thanks for sharing!
When my husband went in for pre-op for nose CA surgery at the VAMC, a plastic surgein also took a look at him and said he felt Blepharoplasty would be very helpful
So he will have both procedures done at the same time
Sharing your experience has given me great peace of mind going forward
Thank you
all the best with your husband's surgery!
Thank u, always luv your programs
I'd love to see your before pic! I really enjoyed watching this as I'm about to get the lowers done in a week. Thank you for this information!❤
You.Look.Maaavelous. I had my eyes done when I was 56 (born with heavy upper lids) and I’m nearly 70. They still look great! You’ll notice improvement for 3-6 more months as your swelling goes completely away. I’m so happy for you! Way to go!😁
Thanks for sharing! I still have a bit of swelling in the corners of my eyes but I'm definitely on the mend.
Heavy eyelids are in my family and I’m considering this procedure for all the reasons you talked about. I don’t know if I will fail the test, but I plan on getting it done either way.
You truly are a good role model!
Going through it right now. Day 3 post op upper bleth. My experience exactly. I failed 2 field vision tests. No pain, Bruising yes. World looking brighter ❤
Thank you for your honesty!! You look beautiful, really before and after!!!
Thank you so much!
I had never heard of blepharoplasty until this year and this is the 5th time in as many months. Starting with my friend from high school. Her eyelids were severely droopy. The muscles had weakened so much that blinking was a concerted effort. One day she got into a car accident because she didn’t see the red light due to the heavy lids. Hers was a 2 step process. They had to reattach the muscle of the lower band to the upper lid. Maybe that’s what you did all at once but she had to wait 2 months before they removed the excess skin from the upper lid. The swelling in one eye wouldn’t subside so they had to so it again which thankfully was successful. Since then I have had 2 neighbors do this. Another neighbor, a man, just cancelled his procedure because he would have to be off of his arthritis meds pre op which would be debilitating. His arthritis is a greater concern so he prioritized mobility over his eyes.
Thank you for sharing. I’m looking forward to having this surgery if Medicare will pay for it. You look fabulous!
Wishing you all the best!
@@BethDjalali Thank you! You too!
Well, I’m hoping my eye doctor says I need it. I know my upper lids are bad. And I have bags under my eyes. I’m a pro at surgeries. I had five surgeries in five years. But it’s been four years since I’ve had one. And I wouldn’t be thrilled for another one. In fact, one of my doctor’s I went to after my first surgery asked me about the fat above my right eye. He asked me if I had it before the surgery. And I really didn’t know. But I do have very hooded eyes. I remember my husband’s aunt talking about having that kind of surgery years ago. She said they would put staples in. She never had it done. I know my vision is fine. I had a pituitary tumor pressing on my optic nerves, and it affected my vision. I found out the days before I turned 54. And it was a scary surgery. But no pain whatsoever. The other surgeries I had after that were very painful. I think a lot depends on the doctor. The surgeon who did my tumor surgery said you can do anything with drugs. And he was definitely right. He was one of the top surgeons in the area where we lived.
You look fabulous! I appreciate your transparency as blepharoplasty is at the top of my surgical wishlist (actually it's the only thing on my list).
good luck! honestly, the surgery is a snap!
Blessed evening to you Ms Beth.. Thank you for sharing. Look so beautiful and gorgeous as always. You are truly an inspiration and role model. Have a wonderful evening and successful week ahead. Hugs and love . Season Greetings.,🙏🏻🌹🌹🌹❤️
You are so welcome. Happy Holidays!
You look great Beth. Following significant weight loss I had a tummy tuck 6 years ago at 59. Best thing I ever did.
I would love to have my eyes done too cos I have droopy lids but still thinking about it. I'm in the UK and we don't have medical insurance for anything cosmetic so cost is the big consideration. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing!
I had a tummy tuck at age 55. I am 60 now. I had 5 kids all with c-section. My first child was 12 lbs and the rest were 10 lbs. I have always been slim. My tummy after having a total of 5 c-section had tons of loose skin. I am so happy I was brave to have this major surgery. It was not easy. Thank you Beth for sharing. Greetings from Arizona.
I am a mostly retired registered nurse. I recover cataracts one day a week. Our eye surgeon usually does one or 2 blephs on eye day. They usually look great even in Recovery. An ultimate compliment was when a patient asked me who did my eyes .
Natural and Beautiful 👏
My plastic surgeon did a fantastic job!
My insurance just approved my eyelid surgery....im so excited and so scared at the same time!!!
You will do great!
Four years ag I had ptosis surgery and it was almost painless. My lids were half way down over my pupil and the field test showed affected vision. I was fortunate that, because my vision was being affected, the government insurance here in Ontario covered the cost of $6000. I am so glad I had it done.
Yes, and it would definately be pretty good for those who can afford it. But many of us have to settle for being happy with just looking older.
You look incredible! Thanks so very much for sharing information, Happy New Year to you!
Happy new year!!
U didn't need it. U were already beautiful. Please be careful with plastic surgery. Getting cut on is no joke-- one mistake can mess things up on your face .
She did need it. The loose excess skin was making her miserable and marring her vision. What makes you say she didn’t need it? It is a very simple procedure and very successful with a reputable surgeon. Keep the judgement! The results are great and she feels better.
At 65…I had breast cancer and a double mastectomy. Then I decided to do the upper and lower eyelids, just like you did. I had a reaction the stitches or cream. I’ll be tested soon. I had those other things , too. The other treatments really helped my skin. Next, bunion surgery. A lot of living ahead of me. Ann
You look amazing! I saw your video with Nikol doing your makeup and it turned out beautifully. All the colours were just perfect for you. Could you please share the contact information of the Cosmetic Surgeon that did your procedure? Thanks
Dr. Ed Pittman

I have had upper eyelid blepharoplasty twice. Both times were a good experience with no complications. I think the reason I needed it a second time was my surgeon was very conservative in how much skin he removed since I also already have dry eye syndrome. I have noticed that my incision line this time has taken longer to lighten up and thin out. It has been five months. But I definitely noticed a change in my vision both times. As surgery goes, this is not a bad one. My advice would be to make certain that the surgeon is certified in orbital and Oculoplastic surgery. My sutures dissolved
Absolutely agree that the surgeon should be Board Certified in both areas. You want the best when it comes to your eyes.
I was contemplating if I should use my certified plastic surgeon, to do my blepharoplasty. I feel the oculoplastic surgeon would be more experienced with any problems that might come up !!
@@marieguerra5975 - My surgeon was Oculoplastic. He was great. In Dallas, he is who fixes all the botched jobs
You look great, very refreshed! Did you have both upper and lower blepharoplasty?
yes, I had both upper and lower blepharoplasty.
I hold my eyelids up to watch TV. It's as if someone turns the lights on! But I'm scared that I'll end up with that Kenny Rogers look if I get the surgery.
Oh Beth you have such a great face and bone structure - your surgeon did a fantastic job because you look just like yourself.👏🏾👏🏾
I had the best surgeon! That makes all the difference. Thanks for stopping by, Bea!
You look fabulous…if I could afford it I would….my eyelids are really droopy…I see you have my favorite watch strap. I love it..I’m 66
Thanks for sharing!!
You look stunning Beth!!
You're the best!
I had my consultation with the surgeon and went for my field vision test plus the taped/untaped vision test. Now we’re waiting on insurance approval. My eyelids are resting on the lash line so my surgeon is very optimistic of their approval. I can’t wait b/c everyone always thinks I’m sick or very tired b/c of the way my eyes look, and peripheral vision is awful. Wish me luck!
Wishing you all the best with surgery! You'll do great!
Beth before you have any type of Plastic Surgery on your face two weeks before you have the surgery start taking large doses of Calcium with Magnesium which comes in liquid form if you prefer and Vitamin C at least 12K of Vitamin C and follow the instructions on the container for the Cal-Mag then add another dose. Most Plastic Or Reconstructive surgeons know about this combo before and after surgery . If you take these I can promise you that you will have little bruising afterward and will heal much faster. My best friend had one of the first Health Food stores here and she had a lot of Plastics done but you would never know it and we both have fair sensitive skin. She was a blonde and i am blonde with a lot of natural red in my hair. We both healed quickly from our Plastics with almost no scaring. Just tuck this away for any future Plastics, Trust me it really works.
Thanks for sharing.
I worked as a surgery scheduler for a plastic surgery group. While there, I had a number of plastic surgeries which included a blepharoplasty, and I have always loved it.
Appreciate the honesty.
thanks for watching!
Beth, thank you for sharing this experience. Your results are beautiful and your advice is on target!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Beth, I wanted to share another type of eye "surgery" that is less invasive. It's called "non-surgical Blepharoplasty". I'm 62 and had it done March 2022. It was done in a clinic by a plastic surgeon. So important to go to a surgeon ONLY. I'm very happy with my results. I wish I could attach before and after pictures but no way to do that here. At age 50, I noticed my eyelids "disappeared." I can wear eyeshadow & mascara again. Recovery time was a week for the scabs to fall away. A few months until normal eyelid color returned. It's very important to avoid the sun when healing and use a non-stinging SPF on eyelids for at least a month. My out of pocket cost was under $1000 including follow up visits. Yes, it wasn't pretty for the first week in recovery - even scary. But worth it! No scarring, no stitches, no pain. I should mention that it took under one hour (+ 45 minutes for numbing cream) and I drove home 90 minutes away immediately afterwards. Although better to have someone else drive!
I also do microneedling RF at the same clinic. I've had Botox but too late for me for it to make a difference. That's the extent of my procedures. Hope this helps someone considering Blepharoplasty 🤩
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! May check it out.
Interesting... I would love to have this procedure. May I ask the name of the surgeon?

Which stare does this doctor practice his medicine?
I am almost there with blepharoplasty surgery for my right eye, it’s starting to feel heavy, has noticeable droop and the heaviness irritates me to no end as I always feel like I have to lift my eye to feel like it’s actually open. , my paternal grandmother’s left eye was completely closed since I could remember and her right eye was about half closed, for almost 20 years (since age 76) she could not see out her left eye at all. Glad I watched this, now to get my doctor to refer me to a surgeon so my insurance will cover this.
Good luck!
I did mine 5 years ago. I was terrified but it was so difficult to keep my eyes open.
Anyway it was the best thing I ever did.
You should try the eyelid lifters ( Contours RX) You can’t see them on. Works especially with those who have hooded or droopy eyelids. God bless
I really do appreciate your channel, the way you make the best out of ageing while staying so natural, you are a great inspiration for me (we are the same age). Thank you for being so honest and helping all of us to be stylish in all our activities. All the best from Brussels (Belgium)
You are so welcome! Thanks for being here!
I’ve had my upper eyelids done, and it was helpful. I think yours looks great. You just look refreshed. Excellent!
Great to hear!
This surgery is the only surgery I’d really like to have to improve the appearance of my eyes. I too live in Georgia. Would you be willing to share your surgeons name and location? You look absolutely wonderful!
Dr. Edwin Pittman in Athens, GA.
I had the upper and lower blepharoplasty October 27th. I was surprised how long I was bruised but very happy I did it ❤
Yes, it does take time to heal but all of a sudden you turn the corner and recovery is speedy.
You are glowing! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
You are so welcome!
So glad it was a success! ❤
Dear Beth, May i ASK you If you suffer of rheumatism AS i See your Hand...i suffer of IT and would Like to know If you are fine...i know its a Channel about Fashion but i am Just curious 🙈😌by the way you Look fabulous! Love from Germany!!!
Yes, I have arthritis in my hands and fingers.
I'm a guy, 42, I've kept my eyes pretty good but these last 2 years it took a hit. I have surgery next Wed, Im stoked but may pull out because Im worried about scarring. I don't wear makeup to cover anything either so I have to take that into consideration. There might be less invasive things I can try...I'll talk with the surgeon again, we'll see!
If you have a good surgeon you won't have any scarring. Good luck!
Thank you for being so genuine. It is a big decision to make and I didn't know that this surgery could be done for medical/vison reasons. Thanks for all the information!
Your eyes look beautiful! 🦋
Looks great! I have extra wrinkled eyelids a bags I’m 74 but can’t afford it!
I understand.
I had similar surgery done in August as well. The initial purpose was to repair the muscle on the lower right eyelid, which was shot, resulting in the eyelid turning inward and the lashes irritating the eyeball. That was miserable! When I went to the eye surgeon, I asked about my upper lids, which were impeding my vision dramatically. She lifted both upper lids and repaired the muscle on the lower right lid but left the lower left lid alone. Shortly after the surgery, the lower left lid started to turn in as well, and I now am having that repaired in early December. If I'd have looked as good as you post-op, I'd have been thrilled! I was a mess, but I don't regret that one bit because I can see so much better. My eyes have genetically large bags below them, which I would have to pay to have repaired, so that's not happening because of the expense; however, friends and acquaintances comment on how much more open my eyes appear. Thanks for sharing! I sent photos to my closest friends and kids but could never have shared with others. You look amazing!!!
I hope you’re doing well! Yes, having our vision restored is the best! Speedy recovery in December.
Sometimes an upper Blepharoplasty is necessary because the lid becomes so relaxed that it becomes a screen over the eye!!
you look amazing wish I could have it done, thank you for sharing,
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching!
You look amazing ❣️ does micro needling hurt? Is there a quick recovery with that?
You look fabulous! Was this done under local or general anesthesia? I've been thinking about this, but haven't gone for a consultation.
General anesthesia.
I absolutely would have that (and a few other types) surgery done if I had the funds. I did have Botox and loved the results on my droopy eyelids. Good for you. Xxx
thanks for stopping by!
Brava Beth!
thanks, Buffy!
Ohmigosh Beth! I'm about to do it. Really nervous

Cariños Beth desde Argentina!! Estas bella!!! Con o sin cirugía, lo que importa es lo que uno quiera y le haga sentir bella!! Besos
My husband had the same surgery about ten years ago. His surgery was also to improve his vision. Occasionally, I tell him he is so high maintenance. You look great Beth!
too cute, Peggy! I used to tell Mr. Style he was high maintenance too.
I had a lower blepharoplasty for eye bags. These are caused by fat prolapse. They weren't extreme, but I knew from family where they were headed. Didn't make me me look "young" (as young people can have bags), but certainly refreshed.
Thanks for sharing!
I just turned 64 and I am having a consultation with my plastic surgeon on Friday about the same surgery but the upper eyelids. I’ll be interested to see if he recommends upper and lower as well. Thank you, I love watching videos about style from someone who is my same age
Your eyes look great! I am very interested in having this surgery performed. Would you be kind enough to share the plastic surgeon who did your procedure (I live in Atlanta)? Thank you.
Dr. Pittman in Athens, GA
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m having a lower blepharoplasty and an a endoscopic brow lift the first of Jan. My Dr said I needed a brow lift instead of a upper blepharoplasty. I’m a little anxious about the brow lift after making a mistake watching utube videos of the surgery. This is off topic but I am considering ordering Lagos watch band and notice you have one. Is your band the stainless steel or sterling silver? I have a bracelet and love it. Thanks
My Lagos is stainless steel. I love it!
Glad you love it. So it’s holding up well? Thanks for responding.
Hi Beth, you look fabulous, I had the upper bleph and oh, why didn't my surgeon suggest the lower, I will investigate it as there is a bit of loose skin there. lol Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I’m at the beginning of this process. I go for my vision testing the middle of December and to the plastic surgeon 1/2/23… I’m so excited
good luck! the surgery is a snap so don't even think twice!
@@BethDjalaliso I’ve now watched this video about 10 times. My surgery is next week (9/13). I’m excited and scared all at the same time. Mine is vision driven too and I’m also including the lower eyes too. You look so fabulous both before and after that I’m hoping for the best. Did they tell you to eat 1 cup of pineapple for 3 days prior? Everyone here including the doctor told me to do that. Says it helps with healing faster. BTW…I’m 71
Thank you for all you do! Love your videos
@@marydenney8249 good luck! You’ll be so happy with the surgery results! But no one told me to eat pineapple. I totally would have!

I’m 72 we’ll this month 73; even though everyone tells me I don’t look that age, I see exactly what you’re talking about. However, Idk where to start for this kind of surgery. I started to have problems w my vision and I will see an ophthalmologist very soon but idk if I will be referring for that type of surgery. I also don’t like the skin drooping in my neck, it started to show more that I’m turning 73. Thank you for giving me courage and enthusiasm to check on this! ❤🙏🏽

WoW! The same happened to me and I had my surgery on 9/30. My visión changed 100%, especially long range. I only had upper lids done, I am very Happy I made the decisión. It was almost painless and very, very fast recovery. Beth, you look amazing, congrats!
I'm happy to hear you are doing well post surgery!
Your eyes look great. I just viewed your video even though it was a yea ago. I would love to see a before picture to be able to determine if I could qualify for my insurance to pick up some of the cost. Thank you so much for sharing.
Only an ophthalmologist can make that decision. It’s all about your field vision and whether you pass or fail that vision test,
You look amazing. Good for you.
Thank you so much!
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience! Can you share the name of doctor who performed your eye surgery?
Dr. Pittman in Athens, GA
It’s so expensive 🤦♀️. Looks great on you though.
Cosmetic surgery is expensive that's a fact.
I am needing this done and have so many concerns, this helped me feel a lot better about saying goodbye to my age related hoods. They are seriously annoying! I had cataract surgery on both eyes & the hoods are extra disappointing because I can see them now!
right?! It's amazing what poor eyesight conceals. I noticed right away how dirty my eye glasses were.
If I showed you the pictures of my upper and lower eye surgery...you would be horrified! It took a very long time before I looked pretty good except one side got pulled too tight & makes that eye look small. But, all & all, it's better than my original face. Don't expect miracles...just better.
Beth thanks for sharing your journey. At this time I deal with hooded lids, thankfully no vision issues. Glad to know this surgery exists. Thanks again
9 days out here. Eye lids a bit red vs bruised I guess but getting better. Right eye bruising underneath much less. Right is gone. Have some concealer on as I am out and about. First 3 days hardest ( surgery day was fine). I think I reacted to Eruthromycin ointment. Better when I stopped. Dry eyes my biggest complaint. Switched from drops to gel drops or ointment. Hope this gets better. Still have swelling but better every day
I had one upper lid done as I have a droopy eye, unfortunately it has drooped again. Love your skin tone that’s for the info.
I love your hair color, do you have color on it or is it all natural? I have dark hair but grey is starting to come through so I’ve been highlighting. I love your hair!
My hair color is au naturel!
Peripheral vision so important for us older drivers good move Beth
Our eyesight is of utmost importance.

My eyebrows have drooped and I want a forehead lift. What's your opinion on that Beth.
Thanks for sharing and this is excellent info
