It really sucks that those who willingly risked their health to do an awful job have been treated so poorly by the government. I think you guys were exactly right that the cleanup was accomplished under hazardous conditions that were ignored in part because the cleanup was necessary and because the heartfelt motivation of the first responders and metal workers made it easy to find enough people to do it well and quickly. Any health care professional can see the high risks even without knowing the exact components of the smoke, ash, and pulverized materials in the air.
Disability benefits from the government are deliberately administered to force people to fight for benefits even when they clearly qualify, which reduces the number who prevail just from the extra effort required.
It is ironic that the major insurance companies that lost most of their WTC employees were leading consultants in workmen's comp cost control for corporations.

This is heartbreaking on many levels. I wasn’t in the city on 9/11 but I have battled unrelated chronic illness for years. I think, “where’s all these miracles of modern medicine I hear about”? There is a medical care crisis in this country which has become epic especially since the pandemic. (my neuropsychiatrist closed his practice one day without notice. I’ve called no less than 8 doctors, none of which are taking new patients.) It’s a different frustration but the same useless engine is under the hood. Society doesn’t owe me, but society DOES owe you. We somehow have to put aside all the bullshit rhetoric so popular now and come up with some help. My husband’s family was living in northern NJ, so when we went there for Christmas in 2001, we went into NYC one day. Coming from California, where air quality could sometimes be a factor-and we paid attention to those reports-when we got into Manhattan, we could tell the air quality was bad then, in December. The very least that they should have done is tell people to wear construction masks in NYC. I wonder what the actual air quality reports really said about southern Manhattan’s air quality??

I was a print reporter living in Washington state when 9/11 happened. I had to check the photos that came through the AP (Associated Press) electronic newsfeed. I viewed page after page of the devastation (before the Internet or RUclips got a hold of the images). I worked endless hours localizing the story to help us understand the impact the tragedy had on us.
The attack happened on a Tuesday and I’d held it together but by late Friday night, as I drove home after putting the paper “to bed”, I cried and cried and cried. I went home, crawled into bed and continued to cry. My husband was wonderful.
I will never forget the fine details in the first photos of the jumpers; I could see every line in the soles of their shoes, the buttons on their shirts, the fabric patterns in their clothes.
It was unbelievably gut-wrenching and I couldn’t believe anyone could have a heart black enough to cause such far-reaching, unfathomable devastation.
So many of these video stories help us understand the people and personal experiences behind the tragedy. Thank you for these videos; they are now part of our 9/11 collective history and help put the events in perspective.

I want to thank these three brothers for sharing their stories. I am so sorry for what our government has not done to protect their health. You all gave everything you had to help clean up one of the worst disasters in U.S. history. It was dangerous enough with the fires and falling debris and dead body parts. But to be lied to about the dust and air quality was a different story. Now that so many are poisoned from it, they don't want the word to get out and take responsibility for it. Shame on them for for being so small to not being able to admit to this one fault. I understand it was early back then and they may have " assumed" the air was safe. However, for the united states not to pay for each and every person who became sick from helping clean up from a terrist attack is completely disgraceful. We should have have taken care of every single person who put their life on the line to clean up the rubble and lost lives. I will be glad if a petition comes around for the general population to sign to support you all. God bless each of you. I send all my prayers and blessings to help you heal and thank you from the bottom of my heart for who you did those days. I am glad you and your dad were kept safe.❤❤

I can't believe the way the governmet lied to these people. To say that the government knew about the quality of the air and told these responders they didn't need a mask is sickening. Isn't enough that they had to pull their deceased coworkers from tjhe pile? Isn't it enough that these individuals had to witness body parts covering the ground? Isn't it enough that certain individuals were tasked with carrying body parts to the freezer trucks at the site? Isn't enough that some individuals didnt even have the bodies of their loved ones recovered. Isn't it freaking damned enough that many remains have never benn found or identified? The last living person to be pulled from the wrekage of Ground zero was saved after a period of 27 hours (1 day and 3 hours.

So sorry, you paid the ultimate price for helping out down there. You are good people, regular guys. Still, nobody deserves this, good OR bad. I have some similar problems, in particular Sleep Apnea. You may have noticed your anxiety improved a little when this was treated at last. Untreated SA really makes anxiety worse. The struggle to get health problems adequately addressed is one I have faced so often in the UK, with our socialised medicine. Yes it is great everyone gets "free" at point of demand care, so if you are in a RTA that's where it pays. If you have a chronic disease, then they are just pinching pennies, you will not get the newest drugs, you may die in the gutter so long as it is cheap to them. Having to prove that 9/11 caused some of your ailments, well, that sucks. But its like all government stuff, they don't want pay, its all down to $$$$. In the UK disabled people face jumping through rings of fire to prove they are worthy of welfare.
I was talking to my oldest daughter this afternoon, I told her human beings are a parasitic life form. The ones at the top, milk the ones at the bottom. What god damn bird do you know pays a once a month fee for the right to live peacefully in its nest ffs?
Like many people I have thoughts about whether this was planned, or at least "allowed to happen". I'm very suspicious of governments. It isn't appropriate to bring that discussion here, though. It is always the little people who suffer most.
    Take care brothers. x

You guys have every right to be angry about all these health issues that the government you were serving doesn't even want to lift a finger to compensate you for. That's absolutely ridiculous.

I’ve been watching a lot of these stories. I feel so much for these heroes. I hear over and over how these ppl believed their government and couldn’t imagine they were being lied to about the safety of the air quality. Here we are in 2021 with yet another lie being told about the safety of these vaccines. But again I hear over and over that we need to trust what the government is telling us. We need to listen to these heroes and learn the lesson that they weren’t able to.

And who should pay for it? Socialized medicine is a disaster, just like every other socialized program. Free food, free housing, free clothing, free education. Where does it end? Grow the hell up and face reality…nothing in life is free. Own some personal responsibility…get a job and take care of yourself. That’s the path to freedom.

And listing to a pothead who barely passed high school and who hasn't worked a honest day in 15 years give his medical opinion on weed is just disgusting. Us taxpayers pay for that loser to smoke weed all day.

He passed Highschool, they all did. And all were cops for more than 15 years . Maybe you need school because clearly you have a hard time paying attention. If you were sick you’d do anything to make yourself feel better. My father and two uncles are very sick I’ve watched my father completely deteriorated right before my very eyes and I don’t wish that on anyone not even you. So maybe keep your dumb comments to yourself and educate and humble yourself alittle bit.

I watched this then watched 9/11 102 minutes that changed the world, 47:25 minutes in you can see the guy directing traffic and people wearing the camo pants that one of the Megna brothers describe in this interview. its a little detail but it seems to tie things together if that makes sense lol
