Gotta love how even the way the way the song is made emphasizes Gabriel's concept; a false deity, a fake beauty, the facade of a savior. You can see this on the pre-chorus and the chorus
The pre-chorus gives a turn around, chilling a bit with almost angelic melodies and vocals, like Gabriel is wearing his facade to lure you to it.
And then the chorus hits you in the face, the "beauty" was a trap you feel into it , now Gabriel reveals its true form, you're now another soldier of its army.
Dare i say this is even better than Intruder, ya keep just getting better LSE! I remember when you first did Taste For Blood, you've gotten so much better since then.

Aside from the obvious fact that this is a banger, this song really feels like the alternates victory lap, and it kinda sounds like they are making a mockery of all of humanity while they are at it.
The raw excitement that passed through me when I heard "Can you recall the terror on your screen?" is akin to the "There's Something About Amy" reveal in that it referenced something which I really wasn't expecting and I went "Oh shit I remember that!".

OH MY GOD!!!! (Figuratively and literally, haha) This is such a bop as usual, LSE. The pre-chorus feels so powerful and heavenly, showing the godly deceiving side of Gabriel only to throw you off COMPLETELY with the intense, heavy and dark chorus showing his true intentions. The intruder cameo too!? I love that you used the same base from intruder. Its almost like a sequel. So beautifully composed as usual, Dude. Well done.
i think part of what is the most terrifying about mandela is that you dont know what the alternates plan to do with you and this song definitly taps into that

At first I was like "eh, doesn`t actually sound all that good, even though the lyrics are great, i like Intruder way more". But the more I listened to it, the more i noticed and liked this song. I can`t actually compare Overthrown to Intruder, they are very different, but i love them both in different ways. This is a really good song! I listen to every each of Dean`s original songs since Intruder, which was the first, if I remember correctly. And since that, I never was left disappointed after hearing his songs. He`s doing a great job, and I hope it continues this this way!

Been trying to figure out what it is about this song that makes it so catchy, and I think I've figured it out eventually.
It seems like a victory song for the alternates and forces of the false shepard. Like, the chorus and stuff make my mind just imagine alternates singing it as they're doing a victory dance after taking over the world, legit. Like, as if it's California Girls or something xD.

I imagine a very church-esque choir of alternates singing the main part of the pre-corus nearly indistinguishable from humans, while Gabriel does the secondary vocals in yellow and outstretches his hands while his head is just off camera.
Then the drop hits and for a split second, the entire choir has transformed rapidly into the over-assimalated alternates in various forms as Gabriel, our false deity uses those same hands to stretch his face into the iconic look!
I've legit come up with perfect pieces to an actual video for this song.
The chorus hits the first time:
"A new tradition. Leading the world by the hand" The false deity extends his hand out to someone or something off screen.
"Forsaking the shepard. Follow my word to the end..." He starts moving downward from where he resides, traveling down to the world to have a little fun.
"Your God imprisoned. Forgotten and buried in sand"
A sight of a familiar wooden cross buried in sand sits transparent on the screen while the main action, where the false deity is headed to, plays out.
He comes down from the heavens to terrorize this lone man, kneeling on the sidewalk and praying for survival and for God to protect him in the troubled times he is facing.
The man is very afraid. Perfect! False deity can feel the fear emanating off of him. Exactly what they wanted...the long uttering of "saaaaaaaaaaand" at the end of the-pre-chorus plays as we see our false deity appear in the pupils of the man, his eyes now overloading with tears as he can't handle the pure incarnation of evil and fear that has shown itself just to torment him.

That chorus just never fails to make me start headbanging very aggressively, it goes absolutely *INSANE!!* And the less intense parts not only break up the more intense parts really well, but they also sound _extremely_ sick! The lyrics are freaking phenomenal, your ability to write them is admirable. And both the beat and vocals were executed pretty much perfectly!!
