My receiver beeps at random even when I am nowhere near the correct height. Sometimes it gets so bad, it just beeps continuously at any height and I can't tell when I am in the beam or level. Kind of as if it gets interference even though I'm in the woods with nothing around. Has done it randomly since new. Any ideas?

Good question. Not sure on that. For us, if we reset the calibration it usually fixes that. Other than that I'd check the batteries or contact the manufacturer/ seller.

How do you use it to make sure posts are at the same height?

Same method as shown, I would just set it where the laser will hit the top of the post. I’d they’re already set, you can mark where the laser hits and cut the top off.

Not sure what the situation is, but that pole with the receiver can be adjusted quite a bit. You just have to be able to make visual contact with the laser.

I am digging a pool, so I need to dig down 44 1/2 inches. So i take my measure stick, and I find level for the top of my pool wall. Then, I move the laser reader up the pole 44 1/2 inches. So once I dig down 44 1/2 inches, it will register level again at my reference point, which will be at the top of my pool wall.

Yep, we used it just a bit on a slope when we first started our septic field, but mostly for prepping this foundation.
