Great interview. Growing up in the 90s listening to hip hop exposed me to a lot of information, personalities, stories and etc. It's good to see one of the many emcees, whom admired as a kid, doing well and still doing his thing.

Jeru is one of my favorite artists from when I was about 16 years old. I'm 40 now. His lyrics and style are still the same in his 2022 album. I love that he has always kept it original.

WOW, I'm surprised he didn't mention Rakim, who definitely made an impact on rhyming, using metaphors, before him, emcees were rapping in a simple format with the exception of Melli Mel and Caz.

Meh. Ari egged him on with Biggie. I agree with everyone else on the list, but swap out Biggie for KRS-One. I'll give Jeru credit for trying to clean it up, saying "Ya Playin' Yaself" wasn't a Biggie diss track--maybe not directly, but Jeru CERTAINLY wasn't fond the direction that Puff Daddy/P-Diddy was taking Hip-Hop as evidenced by the track "One Day."
