Brett,.....you just touched a heartstring... My Brother and I haven't had a close relationship over the years. Because of Him having a near death experience, and on his way to partially mending, I have really thought about him and our relationship a lot lately. This Video has inspired me to make something special like this for him! In case you ever wonder if you make a difference in someone's life when you make these videos?.....You Do!...Thanks Buddy...for Sharing this Video! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Hey there, thank you for the kind words, I'm glad this reached you the way it did. I think we can all be a little closer to our family and I'm glad you're making the effort, we need more people like that. Best of luck with you and your brother as well as the up coming project!
How strange to be so deeply touched by a woodworking video. I’m not a softy like this normally but combine a really awful week with such a touching soundtrack, such craftsmanship, the powerful absence of speech and it combines to a wonderfully heartfelt video, thoroughly enjoyed.
This was amazing. Thank you. Not only was that a very thoughtful gift, but you have given me some ideas for using all the pallet pieces I have in my shop.
I watched it in lunch break, otherwise I generally put the sound volume down for RUclips DIY's. The strumming is great, the project, with lot of love and affection, the love of a brother, priceless!
That is both excellent and inspiring! In the 70’s we ‘surfies’ would make picture frames from pallet wood around surf photos/posters. I used to burn off the grain with my fathers port-a-gas blowtorch. Mostly the wood wasn’t straightened nor planed, just cut and burnt. Good to see this method is still alive! Great work.
Got a tear in my eye mate, I don't see much of my brother and I miss him a lot, would love to have the skills and confidence to make him something like this as I know he would appreciate it, thanks for sharing your video and the gift you made is beautiful, all the best
Brett just want to thank you for all your wonderful videos and taking the time to share them. Being deaf and unable to hear most of the videos posted yours are awesome. Straight forward and thorough much appreciated. Keep 'em coming.
Just came across your video it inspired me to make something for my brother /s. You did a great job and the music was just perfect for that special gift.
How could 66 people give this a thumbs down. Everything about this video is fantastic: the making of the box, who it was for, and the obvious love and thought that went it to the whole project. Well done, mate. 👍🏼
Flipping heck I have bloody struggled for years trying to line up hinges on the lids of boxes I have made, I have never seen that trick with the super glue before. Thank you I will use that method for years to come.
This box has been made with love and prove the good relationship with you brother. I wish i had such a good relationship with my brother. Well done Brett great job with a lot of sentiments.
That was a great project, looked like fun. Someday or miracle I'll have all those fun toys, right now I work with a 15 yr old skill saw an a cordless drill an my imagination to make up for everything else. Thanks for the knowledge an the time. David Ruiz, San Antonio, tx.
Brett, the only thing I might do differently is when you drill the holes, they make those "snappy" brand, self centering hinge drill bit set. I use those and they work real good. Available at Amazon.
#BRILLIANT A real testament to combining inexpensive wood, inexpensive tools and phenomenal videography and editing to make a mesmerizing video of a wonderful heartfelt gift made with love. Kudos! You have a new subscriber.
Wow that is absolutely beautiful work and shows what one can do with scrap wood, expert carpentry and artistic skills, great equipment and design expertise too!! Thanks!
This is an awesome build and a great video. This inspires me to make a gift, rather than something purchased. It really means so much more. A little something 'extra' inside the box is always welcome too! Nice touch.
Great Video and lovely box there my friend. I normally make rustic boxes out of pallets but I'm gonna make a few nice ones now. Thanks for the inspiration :)

Likewise. I have two younger brothers who have not spoken to me in over a year. The same thought came across my mind.
Same here. Thought about my brother and wish to create a similar gift. The wood shavings as filler was a nice touch btw.
i also had near death last year, hope you and your brother are ok, and also what a great video, i loved it.
Turned out great! I just wish my brother was still around. He would've loved it.
