    For the pasta machine you will need one with 8 levels like this: amzn.to/3i555GL Mine is the Atlas 150mm Deluxe Stainless Steel model but any brand should work. You can also use a polymer clay press: amzn.to/3rIy7z6 Amazon affiliate links. Your purchase help supports my channel.

      Hi,loved this idea , do not have anything to press, wanted to buy the clay press since it’s smaller than the.pasta machine , so I guess I won’t purchase a hammer ,,is there a difference between the two ?

    The pasta maker a great idea. I never knew that this is the correct way to make spirals. I have always struggled making spirals by hand to get them to come out looking perfectly. This is going to change the game. LOL.

    • @HeatherBoydWire

      Making spirals on a cone is my preferred method, especially if your wire tends to kink.

    Thanks a lot for this. Was having a real problem finding small flat wire for cloisonne art and this fixes that problem beautifully.

    I bought a pasta maker then went keto diet. Now its sitting unused. Such a clever and cheap DIY rolling mill! Thanks Heather! Nice to find a use for it.

    Very cool Heather. Thank you. I don't have a pasta maker either but can hammer it I think...gently. Would you suggest laying a cloth over it or something along that line to avoid hammer marks? I do kind of like the way hammer marks look. Give an antique look to it. Thank you again

    Twice at each gauge works better.

      Heather Boyd Wire How about just using a hammer with a silicone or rubber end?
      Rawhide mallet, etc etc?

    • @HeatherBoydWire

      @@contactjoy4140 Yes, lot of people hammer, but I don't like the vibration on my hand. I also love the uniformity of the rolling mill!

    What inexpensive way can I flatten stainless steel wire and copper....without a hammer?

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  Год назад

      Steel might be a bit hard for the pasta makers, but copper should work.

  • @kellyweber627
    @kellyweber627 4 года назад

    Very cool!! Instead of using aluminum wire, can you use a thicker gauge of copper wire in the pasta machine? Or would you not recommend it? I have a used pasta machine that I use for polymer clay. TIA 😊

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  4 года назад

      Hi Kelly: That would probably work. If you start on a wider setting and works your way down slowly you will see how much the machine can tolerate. Good luck!

    what is MAX thickest you can insert into the maker? what gauge or mm in thickness will it accept without breaking the machine? I thought i had asked this question months ago without an answer but I scroll and I don't see my comment..🤷🤷🤷

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  6 месяцев назад +1

      I've only used up to 16 g. You may be able to use thicker if it's Aluminum Start at a wider setting and work it down to a thinner setting gradually. Good luck.

    Will this scratch or damage the pasta rollers? Making it bad for polymer clay.

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  2 года назад

      Hi Dorothy: It may scratch the rollers so I wouldn't use it for both to be safe.

    • @AliyasEmbellishments100

      Aluminum wire. Cooper wire and brass wire
      Which is tarnish free?

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  4 года назад

      @@AliyasEmbellishments100 Artistic wire makes a tarnish free copper wire that has a protective coating. I'm not sure it would be dishwasher safe though. I think your best best for cutlery would be Argentium or sterling silver wire which is more pure. You can buy dead soft silver for wrapping in 20 gauge. I buy my wire like this on Etsy. Good luck!

      I bought a 2nd hand pasta maker at a local shop. I wouldn't use your good pasta maker.
