There are 2 VERY unique scenes here: 1. Flying at night with city lights below you, that is a clear rule break (but f$#king amazing to see) - gliders are not meant to be flown at night (I wonder if that runway had landing lights); 2. Then flying over a hot air balloon. The 2 fly in counter weather - balloons cannot fly when there is thermal activity (hence they fly at crazy uncivilised hours of the morning). Gliding on the other hand can only fly with thermal (or updraft) activity, or they are simply going down. Hence seeing the 2 together is VERY unique. This video should be cherished - thanks for showing it.
@@joostwilhelm I Fly in Belgium so the season has ended in October. Currently doing the theory lessens every Saturday (sadly with zoom meetings) and making sure I prepare as well as possible. Really looking forward to the start of the season, but I do need to regain my confidence as I had a bit of a bad flight at the end of the season. (struck a tree on a very low final, with instructor)
