    I enjoyed this one too! I actually enjoyed the music, but I also like hearing the radio messages. As a boy l liked hearing planes get talked into Wellington airport in NZ, and hearing other radio traffic.

      Scott Lewis Parsons thanks Scott. In my recent videos I’ve ditched the majority of the music. Hope life in NZ is treating you well 👍

    It's just a simple one for you, but no GPS , just mark one eye ball and a chart. Wellesbourne Bromyard Malvern, two circuits of the hills at 1000 ft on QNH Ledbury (land). Return flight to follow

    Hi PPV. Thanks for the interesting video! I’m interested in why you use Carb Heat for such prolonged periods during your circuit? Did you rain in a carburettor equipped C150/152 or C172 out of interest?
    I raise this question with many of the people I fly with and checkout on pipers. Piper aircraft PA28 140/150 & 161 have a different carburettor heat system to their competitors. It’s worth reading up their advise on its usage of it. 99% of pilots use it during their entire descent which would be against the operating procedure specified in the owners handbook for various reasons.
    I’m always fascinated by the differences between aircraft and find it one of the joys of GA flying. Just trying to share something interesting. Safe and happy flying!

      BlueLineSpeed you aren’t the first to say that, everyone seems to have different ways. However our CFI taught it that way for the PA28s and follows the POH. There has been an occasion that an aircraft had a forced landing whilst flying the circuit as he wasn’t using enough carb heat.

      @BlueLineSpeed 4 года назад

      Private Pilot Vlogs; that’s understandable and that’s usually the case. The flying school I teach at also teaches it that way for commonality with the Cessna and for that “Extra piece of mind”.
      Please don’t take this next comment in a critical way but more as a real world truth which I’m sure you already know. I “warn” everyone that flies with me the same;
      It’s always worth remembering that as PIC you are responsible to operate the aircraft in accordance with manufacturers guidelines and instructions (not those of your club/instructor). Incase of incident or accident the investigation will focus on the procedures noted in the POH / AFM / Owners Handbook. This includes the cautious use of “club” checklists and procedures which may not have be kept up to date with newer guidance material.
      For reference, the OH states for approach and landing; “Carburettor heat should not be applied unless there is an indication of carb icing”.
      You operate the aircraft safely and obviously take great pride in your flying which you kindly share with us all. I wouldn’t necessarily change what you’re doing, most pilots do the same thing for understandable reasons. I’m only writing to increase knowledge and awareness as I too am continually learning.
      Safe and happy aviating!

    Hey stay cool, your good, no problems there! I am just offering you advice based on my experience as an examiner, airline pilot and FIC instructor. 26000 hours approx, but still learning on every flight. Fly Safe, Harry is watching

      Amateur pilots always read back too much and have too much to say. If everyone adds an extra three words to a transmission its chaos on a busy frequency. Read CAP 413 and try and say as little as possible, apart from mandatory readbacks ATS will ask you for a readback if its necessary and you havnt read back.

    Hi Adam, I came from Wellington but moved to Sydney thirty years ago as there were more quantity surveying opportunities there. Yes life is treating me well down under.

    Hi Adam
    Great content. But I agree with Nick below. Bin the music. It cheapens your hard work.
    See flight chops if you don’t already know his work...

      Nick Goude thanks for watching! Really appreciate your feedback. I personally think the background music adds to the film, and I'm influenced by other RUclipsrs who have a similar style. Would you like to hear the raw audio during flight?

    • @earlgrey5142
      @earlgrey5142 6 лет назад +1

      Ideally yes. As a fellow pilot I Iike to be able to hear the ATC dialogue etc and I find the music very distracting. I am a great fan of Plane Old Ben's videos which I am sure you have seen and which , to my mind, are just right. Maybe some music now and again..anyway just my opinion!

    Henry? I don't have availability to fly with you but I will set you a flight. How are you short field grass landings

  • @hb6986
    @hb6986 6 лет назад +2

    Yes deffo no music.Nice Vid again
    Its not ATC at Wellesbourne its FIS. The controller has no obligation to watch you in the circuit its up to you to seperate yourself from other traffic, thats what VFR is!
    Why do you turn the landing light off after TO(Actually i know its instructor folk lore). Every time you cycle the lamp you reduce the filament life. Make life easy and be safer by keeping the light on throughout the detail. TEM should get you thinking where someone might come close to you in the circuit. The answer is anywhere! See and BE SEEN
    You look too low on final to me and next time you turn final on that runway ask yourself where you woud go if the engine stopped. You dont have probs with powered approach but if you had practiced glide approaches on that runway it probably would have been safer and more productive..
    You seem to turn too early and low for the noise abatement, it starts after the runway threshold again if the engine stopped where you are turning have you got somewhere to go? Always ask yourself WHAT IF its the basis of TEM but guess you wernt taught TEM
    It seems you have never been taught the downwind cue of wing position against the runway as some of your circuits looked wide.
    Your Lookout Work Cycle could be better, notice on the ground while parking how good your lookout was and how often you moved your head-then contrast that to the circuit-then ask yourself where should my lookout be best. while parking or flying? Notice you attention to INTO circuit lookout but collision danger comes from out of circuit usually!
    Didnt detect any H & H checks on pre landing and what abut fuel, just saying fuel isnt a check, you need to know fuel pressure, select fullest tank and have you got enough for adversion. Beware of just repeating checks rather than ACTIONING them.
    There is a big temptation when flying circuits after PPL to just do ordinary powered approaches but that isnt really a recipe for improvement, try mixing it, ovals, short field, low level, glides, flapless, slow speed Go Arounds from the runway etc.. Most low hour pilots are poor at all these exercises because they dont practice them!
    Stable Criteria on the approach isnt just for the big boys little boys should be doing it too as well as a take off safety brief. If your flying school isnt teaching Point & Power, Stable Criteria Point and Take Off Safety Brief it usually means they are teaching a 1950s out of date syllabus. Its 2018, Elvis is dead, spread the word!

      Thank you for watching Harry, I appreciate your feedback. My videos are edited are not for training purpose. I am not an instructor, and certainly not perfect pilot, and sometimes things don't go to plan. These videos are to share my experiences with others, and debrief purposes.
      Where do you fly from? How many hours do you have?
