Perhaps they are purists. There are a couple of embellishments they might have expected or repeats of the first and second part... who knows? Maybe they just can't appreciate it. It's a beautiful performance.
The acoustics of the cathedral is divine and what superb playing. Most of Bach's work is not for wind instruments due to the polyphony and constant playing. This was so well played it almost sounded like 2 voices and required circular breathing to pull it off.
If a player were buying the sheet music, would the clarinet music be different from the violin? thanks- (actually would like to play this on guitar- i understand the range of the clarinet is similar to guitar)

Yes, this is transposed to Bb clarinet. It's written in A minor instead of g minor. I think soon the office will make C version too.
