Rome, the Eternal City, is baffled: Led by Italian blooded frontman Maurizio Iacono and his converted Gauls from French Canada, Ex Deo has baffled the Roman empire and reignited its old flamea, showing it’s true colors as the cradle of modern civilization. We are of course talking about Kataklysm side project Ex Deo. Indulging fully in pomp and drama the bands third album The Immortal Wars offers epic war tales, melodic death metal riffs and orchestral anthems that’ll surely raise fists! Guitarist J-F Dagenais once again took on production duties, while Jens Bogren fine-tuned the whole affair at his mixing desk in Sweden.

Hannibal was as metal as you can imagine: He gauged one of his eyes to prevent an infection, he was truly the greatest enemy of Rome. The greater is your enemy, the greater is your honor.

Eluveitie is not as good as they used to be. I saw them bringing a hell of a show some time ago, it was so good. It's not like that anymore sadly.
I saw them back in 2014 and they were pretty damn good, don't know how they are now especially with the new lineup.

Don't forget Astaroth, a cult band from Rome, Italy. They played metal with ancient Romans-inspired lyrics back in the Eighties. Check out their legendary "The Long Loud Silence" EP from 1985 if you're able to find it...

+dragonforks93 You are absolutely right ... Punic Wars ... historically Hannibal and Rome can't be separated. Besides being a great general, Hannibal was also a great explorer and crossing Alps with his army and elephants (not many made it) was in 218 BC almost like flying to the moon now
