  • Dryer drum belt fell off with the help of my teenage son being less than gentle. Tension spring fell out of place and the belt stopped spinning the drum. Motor was fine, belt was fine, simply took some trial and error to put it all back together. Dryer have been fine now for ever a week with several loads of laundry going through it.
    My dryer model is a Maytag Centennial MEDC200XW2
    If needed you can also purchase replacement parts by using these links, you simply need your model number:

    Thank you! Thank you! This is my exact dryer in the exact same thing happened. Could not tell by looking at diagrams how that tensioner was supposed to go back on. Save me multiple days of headache.

    You are a HERO! I couldn't figure out how to get belt onto the pulley. It just pulls through! Also, on other videos they say the FLAT side of the pulley goes against the drum. that makes the grooves go against the motor pulley. Apparently, it works either way because the one I fixed had it backwards.

    Thanks for the helpful video Troy. I just fixed my own dryer. It took me 30mins only because I got cocky at the end and slammed the lid down only to have one of the clips fall below the tumbler 🙄. That was a fun Sunday project and now the family can get back to finishing laundry.

    Hey Troy! My name is Troy Too. Lol. Thanks for helping me out with fixing my parents dryer. Saved Them Like Almost $350. Even though My Parents Aren't To Much Concerned About Paying For It or Any House Hold Appliances. Dad is a retired S.F Army Veteran(25yrs) plus 2 Vietnam Tours with 100% Disability and Retirement Checks. And my Mom is a retired Teacher(20yrs) and The Same with her, besides The Disability check. I was brought up by them to do it yourself first. And then If I can't fix, call a professional. Again Thank You for this D.Y.I Info. He's seen some stuff and can't talk about some of it as well. We live in a pretty crazy world and I fear it is only getting crazier. Thank your Dad for his service from me and my family. Awesome video. Helped me with the tensioner wheel bracket. It has a hole in it and looks like it should bolt on but has no where to do so. When I took it apart the tension wheel and bracket was just laying in the bottom of the dryer. Thanks!

    I have the same dryer. After replacing the belt, the drum turns when empty but as soon as I put wet clothes in it won't turn. I
    I cleaned and lubricated the wheels but it didn't help. The only thing I can think of is the belt is a tad too long

    • @troysgarage
      @troysgarage  2 года назад

      Either the belt is too long or the tensioner needs adjusted.

  • @JackEnHoff247

    I got the same dryer. My mine knocks louder than a pissed off wife on the other side of a locked door. The rollers are good, the motor and motor pulley are good. The tensioner pulley is good. Its coming from the front door panel somewhere I believe. I'm to the point now where I want to take this thing to the range and use it for target practice.

    • @JackEnHoff247
      @JackEnHoff247 5 лет назад +1

      Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. Right after watching this video, as unrelated mine and yours issues was, I decided fuck it I'll try one more dang nab time. With a clear mind this time. Hot shit I found the issue. A drill bit that my amazing 3 sons took out my drill a mntth ago, was crammed between the lip on the door that the drum rolls on and the drum itself. Being that the bit moved with the drum, i never seen it. But that one last fuck it time I decide to look the door over thoroughly because I knew that had to be the only place it was coming from and found the drill bit.
      Guess who wins Jackass of year award? Me.

      @@JackEnHoff247 na. Man it happens. I put the belt on upside down a few months ago. Now I noticed the drum was spinning too slow. I take it apart just to find rubber dust all over the motor. The belt slowly burned off from being on wrong.

    • @ericmiller7022
      @ericmiller7022 2 года назад

      taking it to the range sounds like an excellent idea
      after throwing it off a cliff
      replaced all parts on mine
      damn thing still leaking lint all over the damn house
      she wants a new 1 anyways
      now thanks to your idea with the range , I gonna …..
