Really cool! Jon Bjork has videos talking about these exact things. He calls the Accents the "Spotlight Effect" and the "slow fast playing" he calls Transition Time
Guitarmastery channel talks about this same thing but doesn't talk about going through the whole sequence note by note spotlighting one note at a time.
Yoh just missed the most important factor here. There's no way one should be playing faster alternate picking with this kind of thumb grip. And spider exercise is the best exercise one can do for pinky finger independency and tendon elasticity.
Wrong on both counts. Pick grip is entirely dependent on individual physiognomy - there are good rules of thumb to follow if you have completely normal hands but it’s a bad idea to make broad comments on grip techniques when someone like Shawn Lane exists. We don’t actually understand any of these mechanics scientifically yet, and there are too many good players with weird grips to justify specific superiority of your personal favourite one. Spider exercise is beginner stuff. Which one anyway? There’s 24 permutations of that.
@@Kerriben I'm talking about left hand grip. And just because you know of some terminologies doesn't mean you are right. You yourself said that spider exercises are worthless. Upload some videos playing Petrucci runs maybe
@@aghoriguitarist would recommend you go and watch Anton Oparin’s latest video on fretting hand thumb position. The classical hand position is not as essential as the dogma would have you believe - Guthrie Govan and Ben Eunson are pretty good examples of people who use a blues style grip while playing super fast technical stuff!
@@Kerriben I've been following Anton for years, and to me, he's one of the cleanest shredder ever along with Stephen Taranto, Malmsteen & Gilbert and if you don't know it is Anton who said that Guthrie sucks at hand synchronisation. Anyway, what I said was pretty basic. You cannot move your hand faster if you anchor your hand with a grip. If it works for you then it's okay but obviously not appropriate for recommendation. For example , I would never recommend Marty's picking style to someone. I mean it's horrifying even watching. So yeah... Peace brother ✌️
@@aghoriguitarist fair enough! I don’t know if it looks misleading and like I’m gripping the neck here. Generally speaking I have an incredibly light touch on the back of the neck and actually went through a phase of using no thumb at all! Camera tricks are finicky.
U deserve way more trafic, your content is amazing!

Interesting I haven’t watched any of his stuff but will check it out!
I don't understand why you have such little views, this stuff is amazing and a breath of fresh air compared to Troy Grady's over-analitical stuff!
Thank you so much for sharing these ideas and exercises - slowly trying to fix some ‘bad habits’ as a self learner and these help tremendously
once again. Awesome stuff brother.
Great video! Off to practice 🤘
Thanks for the video!
Pretty much the Shaun Baxter exercise from back in the day. He was well ahead of the curve . Good vid
Shaun Baxter really knew his stuff. Underrated player!

I’ve seen quite a lot of players with different variations on this concept - tells you it works!
Awesome!
I use wrist but when I do my arm wiggles and looks like I’m using my arm when I’m using my wrist if you have any tips to fix that at all?
