I’m 37 and remember watching this show as a child with my mom. I always loved the transition music to this show. ! Shit i even teared up a little bit just listening to it . Brings back good memories .

I’m nearly 22, so this was way before my time but I used to watch this with my nan ALL the time when I was really young and I loved it - still watch it to this day, the music actually makes me quite emotional because it reminds me of my childhood 😭 (my favourite one is 2:56)

Picture it: Albion Illinois, 1988. It's Saturday night and I'm in my favorite safe space in the whole wide world: my grandparents family room with the fire burning gently and grandma just made some homemade kettle corn in popper. I never want to leave.

I've discovered another piece of transition music! S2 E5 "Isn't It Romantic" At the 10:20 mark, there is a rare extended cue that plays while Dorothy lies in bed thinking. In every other episode, it is cut down to the last few seconds. To my knowledge, this is the only episode where this piece is heard. If anyone knows differently, please don't be afraid to speak up!
There isn't a 10:20 mark. The video is less than 5 minutes long.

0:41 could stop people in their tracks. Clouds part and roll by. People start hugging each other. Wars will end. That’s how powerful this few seconds of music is. That’s how powerful it is.
2:49-2:54 always makes me think of a Sophia scene from the 1989 episode “Two Rode Together” where Sophia is stealing towels from the hotel she and Dorothy were staying in. It would’ve been funnier if she sang “ah, we’re fluffing, oh yes sir we’re fluffing” to some of the pieces in that bit of music.
0:1:58 is Season 3, "The Housekeeper" right after they fire Marguerite, the Jamaican housekeeper. They're in the living room and Dorothy tells Rose Marguerite is upset they fired her, then they hear a horrible explosion noise and Dorothy says "That or she's going to blow up our kitchen," then they rush into the kitchen and the faucet is spraying water all over the kitchen LOL. Hence the water spraying noise in the background.
