    It's always nice to see a review on HeroQuest and its many expansions. Though I have never tried the game as of yet. Happy Holiday weekend to one and all.

    Cap’n, thank you for covering this. I haven’t kept up much with Hero Quest, but I do own the Deluxe box from that Hasbro crowdfunder a year or two ago, so it’s nice to see they’re still finding it worth the time and interest to keep it alive.

      @@captcorajus For deduction, I tested it on 3 other channels, random videos, & it remains past the 1 minute mark. Only on your channel did it get removed. I'd check if you imported a keyword list from someone else. There's 3 levels of filtering; off (default), keyword list (mentioned), & a strict option. News channels usually have the latter option on. IE - I've ruled out it just being RUclips's defacto filtering.

    I dunno why they insist on keeping the male and female stats the same. This was an opportunity for the games to introduce some fariety and they failed in favor of the safe unisex approach. Make the male a bit stronger, dealing more pusical damage, give the female an extra power to compensate for the difference.

      I'll be nice and simply say...WHO CARES? Girls have power fantasies too.

      @@captcorajus Do they? I have yet to come across one yet, including my 4 older sisters and the thousands I've met in my life. I've met some that want to kick ass, but that doesn't necessarily mean they want the brawn/muscle. Even women's mma fighters focus more on technique, though as I write this, I guess there are some that lean on their wrestling core. So, I guess there are exceptions to everything.
      Regardless, my comment was not meant as a slight to women, but rather a missed opportunity for variety in the role.

    So someone at Heroquest might have been watching too much Avatar.
    Also hopefully not involving cabbage merchant.
    We already got one for Baldur’s Gate 3.

    Hm, getting an extra die for attacking unarmed, why should the Monk ever use a weapon? Or are they talking about armour stuff?

  • @adamsonnet

    It's still on pre-order here in the US. Why so long a delay?

    • @captcorajus
      @captcorajus  4 месяца назад +1

      No, its not on pre order, its apparently sold out. More like Back order. I got mine when it was released for 14.00 on Amazon.

      @@captcorajus it's just weird because some stores are having it available for pre-order still. AH needs to fix this because people are still waiting for it to arrive for pre-order.

    The monk had no place in AD&D, it has no place in modern D&D, and it has no place here. Even in an Eastern campaign, the class would be unrealistic, but from a company that will never make another Eastern setting, it's positively ridiculous. Real-life Shaolin monks are a tiny sect of Buddhism, almost never seen by outside their temples, much less by Westerners (and assuming the Chinese have bothered to leave any alive).
    The entire class was invented so that Dave Arneson could play Kane from _Kung Fu_ in Greyhawk. It was blessedly eliminated in 2nd Edition, but brought back for anime fanboys, who refuse to make a character that fits into a D&D campaign setting. The only way I would ever a monk to play at my table, is if he were to speak with an uber-offensive, feaux-Asian accent, and make αutoərotiquə αsphyxiαtion his downtime hobby!

      It's a fantasy setting.

    • @fleetcenturion
      @fleetcenturion 10 месяцев назад

      @@surfingmoose - If you actually read what I said, I already explain that, but I'll elaborate even further, just for you.
      Early monks were severely underpowered, so nobody wanted to play them anyway, unless they started at an insanely high level. Monks today are ridiculously overpowered, damage dealing, healing, fireball-dodging karate tanks. They were never really designed for D&D, and D&D was never designed for them.
      And just to be clear, it was never designed for the artificer, the blood hunter, or the countless homebrew classes you find on the DM's Guild either. The DM shouldn't have to reinvent the game, in order to accommodate every potential "That Guy."

      Monks are cool and this is an odd rant.

    • @captcorajus
      @captcorajus  10 месяцев назад +3

      @@fleetcenturion But this heroquest, not D&D. People enjoy the fantasy aspect of monks, and this is clearly emulating the very popular Avatar: the last Airbender style of fantasy Martial Arts. Thus, any argument about 'AD&D' or "how it doesn't fit because OP, or other such really doesn't apply here. The Monk shown for HQ is no more powerful than any of the other heroes in the game. I think it adds a fun new way to play the game and I submit that a lot of other players feel the same.
