Oh without Tomoyo and Meilin behind the scenes the couple would never have gotten together as Syaoran is too patient and Sakura was too shy in the anime. The manga didn't have this problem.
The manga was a lot more final. The anime ended kind of with a cliffhanger, leaving room for the movie. Plus a lot of the stuff was made clear in the manga. Relationships and things like that were explained and finalized. Also, Meilin didn't exist in the manga.

Story, and setting and character background is completely different. Look at Tsubasa Chronicle as a alternate universe from card card captor. This is especially evident since the Sakura from card captors interacts with the Sakura from Tsubasa Chronicle in various episodes. Also, verified in xxxHolic where Sakura and Sayaoran from Tsubasa Chronicle talk about visiting their counterparts from cardcaptor.
