Just bought this carrier before seeing the video. I am so happy to know based on all my research it is right up there with the big leaguers of carriers like Ferro, Spiritus, First Spear ect.
Thanks for going into detail on the fit of the rig. Many of use are kind of in the middle. I’m tall and thin with a 40 chest. I was thinking about the Large but have rethought the fit. Thanks!
shit... just run a mile, record your time and then run a mile with just 1/2lb ankle weights. It's amazing what just an extra 8 oz on each leg does lol.
I'm 5'3" and been looking at he mayflower APC also. This video is exactly what I was looking for. My waist is a 30 and will end up running side plates. Hope it works out.
blackphosphor I also recommend looking velocity plate carrier... both companies (velocity and mayflower) run the same specs, different format or configuration. I'm 5'4", 31" waist, 36" chest. The Small/Medium is "perfect" because the side straps can overlap for a snug fit.
Right on bro, I'm looking for a way to do a full load out with a plate carrier like that. I see some guys have their holster horizontal at the chest. Looks good, thanks.
you should be able to fit the next size sapi plate up because the it has to fit an esapi of the size. so a medium should fit a large but not a large esapi, make sense
Very nice video Jonathan, the only problem is that we dont find D3 CR anymore. Would you recommend another option? Thank you and looking forward. Andre
Jonathan, excellent review. Informative, clear, concise. Many thanks. I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind. I'm older, but not totally out of shape. Likely a 41-42" chest and a 31" waist. Oh, and I'm 5'10". Seems I should get the same size as yours but thought I'd check. Also, what brand/model of plates are you using, would you recommend them or another vendor and why did you pass on side plates? Again, many thanks. T
t2bt2b I went with bulletproofme.com Level IV ceramic for the plates, and to be honest, I probably would have went with ar500armor.com (they have Level IV ceramic) instead, but they have some long lead times (8-12 weeks to ship). I think you can run medium or large SAPI just fine. As far as passing on side plates, I don't know. I guess it's more about mobility. Granted, saying that, I probably could have just gotten a Crye JPC instead of the Mayflower APC.
***** Thanks for the quick response. Just to check, despite the two of us having different heights, the rest of us seem proportioned about the same. So should I assume that I should order the same size as the one you have. I don't have a big frame so I tend to buy on the smaller size. Thx again.

i have a quick question about this carrier because i have narrowed it down to either a 6094 or an , and i was wondering that if i clip on a UW gen 4 rig will i still be able to use the kangeroo pouch or will the clips get in the way?
What is the hook and loop on the back of the chest rig? Been looking for stuff online and cant seem to find anything. And will the clips that come on the chest rig work natively with the apc or so they need changed?
The hook on the back of the HSP D3CR? If your plate carrier front has loop, it will interface with that. The APC has loop on the PALS webbing on the front. The clips work with the APC. This video was made back in 2015, so it's been a long time so I can't find the references, but HSP specifically cited the APC as one of the plate carriers the D3CR would connect to. I haven't looked at current production Mayflower APCs or HSP D3CRs, so you'll want to go check based on current production designs as things may have changed in the past 7 years.
@@ocabj alright, I didnt even notice that the video was made so long ago. I'll definitely need to check up on it and the rig I would be using is the D3CRM so it's a little different from the one you used. I'll try to find more info on them
Why do you de-shoulder the rifle when you are scanning? The point of scanning is to confirm that there are no more threats. Once there are no more threats then de-shoulder. But even then why rotate and put the butt over your shoulder and 4 inches behind your head? All that does is create more distance to travel to re-shoulder the rifle. I'm not picking on you, this is just one of what seems like hundreds of videos where I see people doing this. It may look cool but it just doesn't seem practical. But hey to each their own i guess...
mrtimjitsu I see this crap everywhere now a days. It's a ridiculous technique that is being taught to a lot of people. I'm not sure where this came from either. Same thing with pistols where after they break their last shot, the shooter quickly pulls the gun back and snaps his head side to side as if he is scanning. I've held a set of fingers on the peripherals of shooters I've seen doing this. None where ever able to tell me how many fingers I had up.
Romeo Santiago i believe it. most ranges dont let u scan properly.. but i dont think forming a completely useless habit is the answer. the worst is sometimes i fucking do that shit pulling the pistol back in to my chest... and i look and feel retarded doing it haha
Zack Sobel lmao, well Zack pulling the gun to your chest is not necessarily a bad thing. What I meant was when shooters snap that pistol back like it was on a rubber band after the prescribed string of fire and not really assessing. I feel that getting the gun out of your line of sight but in a position you can re engage quickly, i.e. Chest, is a good thing. It breaks the tunnel vision thing and allows you to see a bigger picture of what's in front and around you
Do the shoulder straps cut into your neck? How well is the rifle mounting with the larger plates? Now that you have used it for a few years what would you change?
The larger plates don't affect rifle mounting in that smaller plates will ride at the same height. Shoulder straps aren't an issue on the neck. If I changed anything, I would ratio the plates so the back is as large as possible, and the front a size smaller. So in this case I would keep the large plate in the black and go with a medium or what not on the front. Just from a weight savings standpoint and to help a little with mobility.

+Frank Valente I'm actually going to buy a drop offset holster for use with the APC. I can get away with a standard holster without too many issues, but for less chance of restrictive movement, I'm going to get a G-Code drop offset or the MULE rig.
Houdinii1212 I'm using large SAPI plates which have the 'swimmer' cut. By definition, SAPI spec large is 10-1/8" x 13-1/4". The only problem I see with a 10x12" is if it's not swimmer cut and is an exact rectangle. I'm not sure if it will fit in the top portion of the carrier.
I've noticed the Mayflower APC only has the three strips of Velcro on the front panel. how secure is the placard on the front panel during movement? I am about to buy a Mayflower APC and the Haley Strategic D3 Chest Rig and it seems like the placard is going to have a hard time staying secured to the front panel even though it has the swift clips.

It has a pocket, that you can shove mags into, but I wouldn't use it. I would buy some other pouch attachment, just like I mentioned in the video and my written review.
I honestly can't say. You're going to have to go off plate size. Odds are you're going to need to run the large SAPI, if not larger, considering you're well over 6 feet tall. You can get away with the S/M (with maybe the medium cummerbund) assuming the whatever large SAPI you get will fit in it, but you might be better served with the L/XL.
11x14 is what i run and i am 6'7 waist shouldnt matter because the plate shouldn't be near your waist.(flexibility and mobility) i know a green beret that runs smaller plates than normal because he likes the mobility so it is personal preference. For a good idea measure 1 inch above belly button to the top of your sternum then nipple to nipple. mine was 12x18 but 11x14 covers my vitals ;)

My APC didn't come with the side clips, did you have to add those separately?
Unfortunately, yes, the side-clips are a separate purchase.
Ok perfect I just wanted to make sure that I didn't miss something. I found them online and already ordered them, thanks!
So what do you tell people when they ask why you have this as a civilian? I'm looking for an educated response to give instead of "because America"....for me its to hold my D3CR of course.
+Samuel Delaet I've actually been bringing my plates to the office ever since a long time employee was terminated out of the blue. A few people asked me why I have a "flak jacket" (they're words, not mine) and I specifically said, "because shit might happen."
+Jonathan Ocab If shit can happen it will happen. Thanks for the reply!
Jonathan Ocab Wow, you're a wacker.
Everyone- cut off your kangaroo pouches. They make GREAT flat pack pouches after you do.
what watch do u have ?
+Warren Albuna Casio G-Shock GW9400-3 Rangeman
+Jonathan Ocab thank you. u have a good channel
very nice but you should use a drop leg holster because in at a specific moment your sidearm will be stuck in the lateral of the chest plate
well this is just a thought ;)
+Maia Coimbra Drop legs are usually nasty
Straps are crap way to wide.
none are ever in stock
Before pandemic, these were readily available. Probably have to wait for supply chain.
Praise the maker, it's not an airsofter review.
Punchable face
first 10 seconds of the video... completely incorrect on sizes of the carrier and whit it will fit..
great "review" skills.
I got the "large cummerbund" and its ridiculously tight. Pretty sure they sent me the wrong size.
Do plate carriers come with the magazine holders and other pockets or do they only come with the plate carrier itself, like do you have to set it up yourself? Is the plate included?
It depends on the plate carrier. They vary in design. As far as plates, usually those are sold separately since they are controlled items.
Jonathan Ocab Thanks. Does the Mayflower come with the pockets?
It has a pocket, that you can shove mags into, but I wouldn't use it. I would buy some other pouch attachment, just like I mentioned in the video and my written review.
What size would you suggest for a 6.5" dude with a 36" waist?
I honestly can't say. You're going to have to go off plate size. Odds are you're going to need to run the large SAPI, if not larger, considering you're well over 6 feet tall. You can get away with the S/M (with maybe the medium cummerbund) assuming the whatever large SAPI you get will fit in it, but you might be better served with the L/XL.
+Jonathan Ocab cool thanks!
11x14 is what i run and i am 6'7 waist shouldnt matter because the plate shouldn't be near your waist.(flexibility and mobility) i know a green beret that runs smaller plates than normal because he likes the mobility so it is personal preference. For a good idea measure 1 inch above belly button to the top of your sternum then nipple to nipple. mine was 12x18 but 11x14 covers my vitals ;)
where did you get the side straps to secure the D3 ?
+justin richardson Same place I bought the APC from: US Elite Gear. Look for Velocity Systems Swift-Clip Kit.
