The quality of how great of performers Penn and teller are is so consistent and great. I’ve seen 3 different recordings of this trick and they’re almost identical shot for shot. Perfect performance quality.

I love how penn and teller let the magicians that perform on their show upload to their own channels.

Love how Penn reveals the trick (in code) in his patter. Pretty sure that was an intentional additional FU to The Magic Circle.

      What's the code he uses?

Is it that he was naming ways it's not marked, but didn't say it can't be tactile markings?

"Confuse the sequence of events. Now, I really do not want to do that now.", and "The order of the cards is not changed."
Think about why Penn keep some of the cards. And then he was the one who "shuffled" the full deck with his card on top.
Actually, the top of the deck was never changed. No confusion in the order.
So Teller knew the entire part of the deck Penn hold. If Penn also had a 7 of heart, Telle would just have to count until this card is reached.
That means that for every card the audience member had, Penn had a copy of this card. It's pretty hard to remarks that cards appear twice in the deck instead of just once.

@@Tera_GX tactile markings would still be useless since teller never touches the chosen card and the deck was shuffled by the audience member so he'd have no way of knowing which card preceded it. Penn also didn't know where in the deck the chosen card was since the audience member only visually chose the card and never actually pointed out where it was in the deck or even what card he chose until the deck was already squared

My guess: it's not a full deck, it's half deck repeated twice, Tim is given one set, while Penn keeps the other. After the two are merged together, Penn does a series of "shuffling" that puts Tim's half in the front, while keeping the order in his own half (which is on the back now). Teller had memorized the order of all 26 cards, so once Tim announces his card, Teller knows how many to throw away.

At 4:03 you can see the bottom of penns half is 4 of clubs, and the other guy’s bottom is the 7 of clubs, so maybe it’s a different order
