The 2018 Lasker~DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award honors John (Iain) Glen for the discovery and development of propofol, a chemical whose rapid action and freedom from residual effects have made it the most widely used agent for induction of anesthesia in patients throughout the world.

the actual chemical compound is a clear solution
propofol is pretty terribly soluable in water, so its dissolved in soybean oil and then made into a suspension using an emulsifier, which gives it its milky white colour
