i have a test abt all musical periods. i have had about 30 hours of lessen to learn abt them and this video teached me the same ammount in less then 10 minutes. insane
I know that periods of music is complicated, but im just looking for a brief summary of these periods to understand this, because i can not understand the information confusing websites put up, so thank you for this video.
I got here from a video I searched for on Baroque music and here I am being this many years old and just now realizing there were music periods! This video was random and great.
Why are all examples vocal? And do you really think that the most "modernistic" composer to represent the whole century in this kind of "brief" introduction is John Williams?
Great questions. I am a high school choir teacher, and this video was meant to be an assignment for them to go over. It was intended that my students learn specifically vocal music throughout the ages. I included John Williams as the one example because I knew my students would be familiar with his music. Of course, to include all the information on these periods, the video would have to me much longer than 7 minutes!
I was looking for a brief video to show my elementary students. This has good information, but the background music doesn't reflect the musical periods you're talking about, so unfortunately unusable for my purposes.

Very well explained
Great lesson!
Is this the world wide history of music, or just European history? What was music like in different parts of the world for each of those periods?
