    Omg! You are so talented! Congrats! Can i get that kind of silicone carpet, where you always work on, online? Becouse im from Paraguay. And also, do you refrigerate your cakes while assembling? Doesn't your fondant get all sweaty and sticky? In my country we have a loooot of humidity that is dificult to work with fondant.. i'll apreciate if you can give me some tips about that..
    Thank you!!!

    • @MsDreamcakes
      @MsDreamcakes  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, you can get the mat that I use online on Amazon. It's called a self healing quilters mat by Fiskar! I do keep my cakes in the fridge all the time. I'm in Texas where the humidity is insane along with terribly hot temps which is one of the reasons I keep my cakes in the fridge any time I'm not working on them. They do become shiny and sticky when I take them out for a while but in my opinion that helps with the decorating, you don't have to use gum glue or water to stick stuff to them and once they come to room temp again they will not be shiny or sticky! I also think keeping them in the fridge helps with delivery....a cold cake travels much better than a soft room temp cake does. I came up with my own center support system (I have a video up on that if you'd like to see how I do that) so between that and keeping them in the fridge I have never had any problems in delivery! I hope that helps answer your question! =}

    • @paolarojas4798
      @paolarojas4798 7 лет назад

      MsDreamcakes yes it does! The thing is the quality of the fondant i guess..i make my own fondant, we also have wilton here but it's insanely expensive..so, i'll keep searching the best recipe i can find.. thank you and keep up with your awesome work!

    • @MsDreamcakes
      @MsDreamcakes  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you so much! When I had my shop open and needed a lot of fondant I made my own using Liz Marek's recipe (she's here on RUclips and has a video on how to make it) and it calls for a little Wilton's. It basically stretches one box of Wilton's fondant into 4 batches! I love that recipe but I found that you could not use generic marshmallows you had to use name brand ones and I have no idea why but it would be crazy sticky when I used generic brands.

      Thank you Alejandra! It's called Highlighter (it comes in gold, silver, and copper) and it's made by CK. It's not edible though, so just make sure if you use it to let your clients know! There is also an edible one on the market by Rolkem but it's not quite as pretty as the CK one!

      MsDreamcakes Thanks for answering my question! I have another if you don't mind. I'm a budding cake artist. I've been asked to do a 3 tier wedding cake for August and it's outdoors, in Arkansas, I live in southern Missouri. I know you know what the heat can be like. In your opinion what's the best icing/fondant to use in this situation. I'm so scared that I'm going to get it there and it's going to side bubble or melt! Thanks in advance!

    • @MsDreamcakes
      @MsDreamcakes  7 лет назад

      I would for sure do a center support system. I never travel with my cakes without a central support because it just takes all of the worry out of traveling with it and getting it there all in one piece. I also like to use fondant on cakes that will be traveling a long distance just because it gives it one more layer of protection but if they don't want fondant I would for sure use a crusting buttercream (American butter cream is a crusting butter cream}. I also keep my cakes in the fridge up until the moment they are either picked up or they leave for delivery. A cold cake is VERY sturdy and by the time you've made it to your destination it's come to room temp and that way you don't have to travel with a soft, delicate cake. I have videos up on both of these things, if you'll look in my cakes and cookies playlist you will find my crusting buttercream recipe and how I build a cheap support system for my cakes! I hope that helps answer your questions! =}

    • @MsDreamcakes
      @MsDreamcakes  6 лет назад

      Thank you Vicky! I'm not sure what you're calling a shirt but I used a mold I got at Hobby Lobby that I found in the jewelry making section for the stripes. Martha Stewart has some really neat silicone molds and there are some cute ones in with the jewelry making stuff, you have to learn to think outside the box with these cakes! =}

    • @MsDreamcakes
      @MsDreamcakes  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you! The gold is called highlighter and it's made by CK (I mix it with clear vanilla extract). You cannot get that look with anything else that I know of at this time. It is not considered edible so you will have to make sure you let your clients know. There is an edible one made by Rolkem but it's not as pretty.

    • @MsDreamcakes
      @MsDreamcakes  2 года назад

      Thank you Francine! It’s called “gold highlighter” but it is NOT edible! I just looked and you can still get it on Amazon but I got mine from a cake shop in Dallas, TX. This one is the prettiest gold in my opinion but I know they make some really pretty ones now that are edible! When I use this gold I just make sure to put it on things that can easily be removed and I make sure the customer understands that it shouldn’t be eaten! It’s so confusing isn’t it, because it’s sold as a cake decoration but isn’t edible! lol Hope that helps! 😁

      Thanks Laurie! I do these videos because my subs like seeing me make my cakes from start to finish. Since they take on average of 15-20 hours I have to speed them up. I don't title these videos "how to" or "tutorial" because they are not meant to teach you step by step. If you are wanting those you would need to look for those words in the titles. I also do teaching videos which I do label as such. If there is a certain thing you would like me to show you how I did just let me know and I'll do a slower version for ya! =}

      I understand your frustration but this cake took about 16 hours to make...NO ONE wants to sit and watch that (including me). I go by what my analytics show and people seem to have about a 10 - 15 minute attention span so I make my videos to suit that time frame. If you are looking for step by step videos you should look for videos titled "how to"...."tutorial".....or "step by step instructions"! Hope that helps! =}

      Awwww I'm glad you enjoy watching me cake! I enjoy having conversations in the comments so I try to always reply but RUclips has been in the middle of making all kinds of changes so I will see comments that came thru months earlier that I never saw so if I don't reply that's why. There are also some accounts that haven't linked their channel with google (I think that's what it is) so those won't let you reply to their comments either. =}

    If you would just slow down your video a bit more it would be enjoyable to watch. Its way to fast

      Thanks for the feedback Elizabeth! I edit them like I do because I have found that my audience enjoys seeing the process from start to finish and my analytics show that their attention span starts to wander around the 11 minute mark so I try to keep them short and sweet for those reasons! =}

      If you are looking for step by step videos you might want to look for titles like "how to" or "tutorial". I post my cakes like this because my subscribers like seeing the process from start to finish and since they take on average of 10-15 hours I have to speed them up! If there is something you would like me to make a slower video on so you can learn let me know and I'll do one! Hope that helps! =}
