One of the things that could be keeping your ad rev down is curse words! If you don’t include them in your video you appeal to a wider audience and also you’re more likely to get ads! I don’t think excluding choice words from your videos makes it any less authentic either

I wouldn't take the lower view count personal, Chris. Lots of creators are lamenting how vlogs or personal projects don't seem to get as much traction as the tutorials and reviews do. Dunna Did It just put out a video about how he misses doing personal vlogs, but it seems like they've disappeared from RUclips. Jeven Dovey tried to create a second channel to tell more personal stories, away from his tutorial channel, and it's not doing well. Even Gene Nagata of Potato Jet fame created a second channel so he could just do vlogs, but the workload is kinda crushing him now. It really does come down to serving your muse in whatever form it takes, but also not hating on yourself if the views tank or the videos don't go viral.
