Romanian captain here. Where to start with this: first, these are some weird rroma people, maybe they have embraced the gypsy style, but they don't look gypsy. Yes, they are extremely poor, I mean, damn, they live in huts, but not all of them are poor. Second, they get married in an orthodox church, which is very unusual, normally gyspies have a 3 days and 3 nights wedding party at their own house, they cook and have live music, and they are very very loud, and they usually end up calling the cops on each other. Hope it clears some things. Also, an a Romanian, watching this was pure fun. Love ya guys.

Your totally right. The Roma Gypsy's are usually pretty well off and have the biggest wedding's I've ever seen. I think most of the Gypsy wedding series on TLC is staged or are really old videos being replayed. My Great grandma was a Roma and she had this little egg shaped 2 wheeled caravan with rugs hung on the inside and 2 horses to drag it. That was over 40 years ago. Not now they all have houses and massive trailers. 👍

This was one episode that was really wholesome. She was adopted by Americans and that did not work out that well. She somehow found her biological mother in Rumania. The mother couldn't be present at her wedding in the US and her boyfriend bought tickets for them both to go to Rumania. It was intended as a holiday but turned into an unplanned wedding. Her mother gave her to an American couple because she was born when the Berlin Wall (1989) fell and also the Romanian dictator Ceaucescu. People in Rumania didn't have food for some years and her biological mother gave her baby away because children were dying from hunger. Orphanages were filled with dying children during that period. The church isn't catholic but Orthodox. The priest speaks Romanian. Masses in Europe are never in Latin any more.

Edit: also the "bargain" for the "stolen" bride isn't an exception to gypsies only! it goes for all romanians! its to show how far you would go for for the woman you swore your undying love and devotion for! most of the bargains are made up on the spot and can vary from money to alcohol and so on. by the end things end up being either consumed or returned, its just another fun part of the marriage tradition!

Rroma people are tradition and very family oriented. The "stealing of the bride" tradition is all over Romania as the groom has to be the "knight to save the princess out of love." Nowadays, you can opt out of this tradition in modern weddings. At the end of the day, it's all fun and jokes!

Reminds me of my wedding. After meeting my very German uncle who was our witness out officiant thought it would be a great idea to do our wedding in german. Me and my now husband just stood there giggling and wispering to eachother how we have no idea what is going on.
That whole day was just one crazy thing after another but I just love those memories.

Also what he got out of his pocket is about 5$

Aww, they did the actual traditional wedding! They looked so adorable, and it's sweet of them to include all the families. Marriage wasn't about how expensive it could be, it was everyone making food, getting together with the whole community of families, and having a loud celebration! You know that food was epic, too. Jealous! XD
(Now you know why European travelers refuse to acknowledge most American ones.)

This is how weddings should be, full of LOVE and joy for the bride and groom!
People seem to forget why Marriage is a thing, it’s NOT an obligation… it’s a symbol of two people who love one another. Weddings are about celebration, they don’t have to be big and grand, they just need to get the point across! And even then, you don’t need a wedding you can just elope if you want something private.

For my wedding we just bought those big Costco meat and cheese platters for $25 a piece. Easy, cheaper, and delicious. We had left over meat and cheese that we brought with us for our honeymoon in Colorado. You can have a fantastic wedding and not go into debt for it. For my bouquet, we bought the flowers I wanted at Market Street and Kroger, and then my maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids helped put the bouquets together. All of the flowers cost us maybe $40. Venue? We used our grandparents property free of charge, althought we bought them a $200 gift card for a super fancy and delicious sit down restaurant. Everyone had a blast and it was a beautiful night ❤

I've never been a foot guy and with feet being the number one most common fetish in the world, I'd be pretty worried. If you've got 20 people in a church giving foot baths, statistically, there has to be at least one dude in there enjoying it wayyy too much.

Why they consider themselves gypsies? The tradiotional clothing used in the video is Romanian traditional clothing, Rromani/Rhomi has a whole different traditional clothing, they wear a long flower print, bright colours dress, a head cover with small coins, two braids and their weddings are lavish. 🤔In this video, it’s just a Romanian traditional wedding
