The Fleur de Lys is the symbol of Québec but Montréal's symbol is road cones too . Just found out that the city doesn't own them but rents them. Municipal graft and the mob at work.
My main guitar was an HM Strat with a heavily scalloped neck for about 20 years. It was an adjustment at first, but once you get used to it, it really improves your playing.
Oh same!!! I do it on all guitars now - I have had loads of guitars and some quite pricey ones over the years but my absolute go to is a Schecter Sun Valley model I scalloped myself. It's a beast. I'm so tempted to get a store to scallop the full neck on my Kiesel vader 7!
looks awesome ;))) the input jack on the side is better when you jump on stage (I heard of this issue before , so it's probably why they put 2 input jacks now)
That scallop job looks REALLY good. I scalloped my main #1 way back in the day. I didn't do a very good job but it's OK and I've loved the guitar (bought in 86-87) ever since. A scalloped neck will absolutely teach you to have a lighter touch. I'll point out that Keisel did a very good thing and left a little bit of a shoulder next to each fret which will allow for fret changes in the future. I scalloped mine right up to the fret and will have a hard time pulling the frets when that time comes. However, you can use a fret until it's tin-foil thin with a scallop job so there's that.
Bro, you're going to have to fight us up here in Michigan over that state flower of yours. It is a nice looking and sounding guitar. Never tried a scalloped fret guitar before. I would definitely need a tone knob, I like to dial it in.
I’m curious to try a scalloped fretboard but it seems like it would be difficult not to accidentally bend the notes out of tune while playing chords especially with stainless steel frets.
Nice guitar. I was taught years back of the concept that the picking and fretting hands work similar in how hard you pick is how hard you fret. Knowing this I concentrated on that part of my playing, so my left hand frets fairly lightly regardless of how hard my right hand technique is. I generally play bass and use mainly fingerstyle along with some picking and thumb slapping. It took a while to apply to guitar picking.
I'd have to see what's more comfortable for me with regards the 2 input jacks if I was getting one of those guitars. My personal preference is for 3-way toggle because I would only use split coil in a 2-humbucker setup if I was experimenting with sound and prefer the quicker b-2-n selection of a toggle. So I'd have a push pull knob to split the coils if I wanted a split at all. I've never played scalloped frets but I'd like to try some day. One volume is fine. I keep the tone up all the way in mine. It's never used. It's there because it came with the guitar.
I was under the impression that a guitar with tall frets feels the same as a scalloped one, because on both you no longer touch the fretboard. Is this not the case? Most of my guitars have tall frets and I only really touch the fretboard when bending.
Yaaah, I lived in Arizona for 25 years about 10 min from you (Ray & Recker) and LMAO🤣at the State Flower Joke, so true dude. Plus dealing with all the fret sprout and worse; I ordered a custom uke from Vietnam and within 6 months the neck warped and twisted making it unplayable 😭😭
2 questions for anyone in the comments who may read this and happen to know. 1. I've never played a scalloped board...while I know it would take getting used to does it make you go sharp a lot, and how does it affect radius? I don't know if a scalloped 12'in radius is different opposed to say a 16 or if the scalloping makes it irrelevant? 2. Has anyone ever asked Kiesel (or Carvin) to make a 27 fret guitar?
“When I was a little kid, I didn’t really spend much time in school because I had to play guitar; that was more important to me than going to school. Funnily enough, I had straight A’s anyway! “Since I didn’t really go to school, they said, ‘You go to this luthier shop; they need somebody to teach,’ so I said, ‘Why not?’ They were wearing lab coats and working on 17th-century violins and stuff like that. It was very high-tech and high-level. And this old instrument came in, and it had this scalloped look to it. “As a kid, I was interested in model planes and things like this; I didn’t mind cutting stuff up and changing my [guitar’s] neck. So I just scalloped between the frets and said, ‘Wow, this is kind of cool,’ because the wood didn’t get in your way.

Beautiful guitar. Sounds like a guitar should. Love it. Your playing is getting so much more diverse. Love that also.
I have 2 Warmoths builds I did with scalloped necks and I love them. But I like my non scalloped guitars too.
That is one unique axe you got there Phil.!!! Love Kiesels. Planning my third build. A2 splatter.

Love my A27, and my A2 bass should arrive soon! I'm already devising another build, too lol. Killer new axe, Phil!
Very cool!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I think the light scalloping is the way to go. Now I really want to try one!
Red/orange pops so hard on guitars. ❤
The artist formerly known as Stay Metal Ray is responsible for the two output jacks on the A2, he did a video on it a while back
That absolutely beautiful sounds great too 👌
i haven't had GAS for years but this gd guitar just did it for me 😢
Another super fine guitar from Kesiel Guitars .
Quite a cool axe there Phil. Enjoy it.
Oh nice! JP6 shape with reverse headstock!
Here in Michigan our state flower is the orange barrel blossom 😂
"Road-Cone Pickups" 😂😂😂
...and Phil, you finally ackowledged your Kiesel Signature model 😮😮😂😂
Phillip, That is really an extremely beautiful guitar. Absolutely Gorgeous.
looks awesome ;)))

I like the orange pickups and the jack in the back. killer guitar. Why the Gotoh 510 though? Or more appropriately what is the reason you love the 510
I got my first scallop job in 1986. I have since acquired two more. They are my main squeezes.
Love the color
Fun guitar!
Yes the road cones are blooming well this year. 😁
"Phil McKnight plays the official guitar of the Miami Dolphins!"
I've never seen Phillip McKnight and Pitbull in the same room. Phil is Mr 305 confirmed!!
Wait til you see RJ Ronquillo's Novo
@@thesmellycatjazz You mean 304? ;oP
Hi Phil, have you ever refretted a scalloped neck? I've always wanted a scalloped guitar but it looks like a pain to refret.
It works the same, takes more time. So stainless steel frets are nice because not very likely that it will need it

Pick and push. This needs a decent exploration! Great point Phil.

Do both the output jacks work at the same time, so you could have it going out to 2 different rigs?
Yes they do

😂 you alone make kiesel a happy healthy company. Good on you
Oh boy, this hit the spot
AZ state flower LOL. Yup. They grow EVERYWHERE! Usually in the middle of the road.

ok, now we need to know what would happen if plugged in both output jacks at the same time
I can't stop thinking this is a San Jose Sharks guitar.
How is it different - playing a scalloped freboard?
Nice guitar, and very good sounding Pickups. Why the orange pickups look cool, I don't know, but they do. Congrats
Great story(ies) behind all it 🙂 greets from Belgium

Does having two jack cause signal loss?
Kiesel rules! 🤘🏻
I'm just trying get used to large frets let alone scallops. Too used to fret-less bass necks I guess

lol about Arizona state flower
Orange works well against blue (green too), because they are complimentary colors, hard not to like.
I live in Ohio, we have the same state flower: the road cone. 😂
Is it just me, or does that particular one have noticeably great ring and clarity when playing on clean?
was that the best headstock choice for that one?

Very nice
Kiesel: "Have you swapped the trem arms on your Kiesels so they're colour-correct now?"
McKnight: "No. 😈"
Pretty gorgeous tone...and yeah... the orange kinda' grows on you.
I'm buying one... and scalloped
I like scalloped potatoes

How do you buy all these expensive guitars
apparently he has a job.. ..i bet is with money.
Well being lithium, that guitar WON'T get depression or schizophrenia!
A2? It's NOT milk!
WOW
i can't control the sound - sounds like I am out of tune when I play them.
Check to see if you have sausage fingers.
there is a tone the one works for it
Where did Yngwie Malmsteen get the idea for a scalloped Fretboard?
I think he got the idea from Ritchie Blackmore. Blackmore has said that he thinks all guitars should have scalloped fretboards.

Blackmore for sure

Nice to see Carvin's rebrand was so successful. They could never come up with a headstock design that didnt look weird.
That color scheme is hideous. They did a very nice job on the scallops though.
you need to shake off some prejudice, and will be much more happy

No tone. Rock and Roll, needs no tone my brother!
I've been gravitating to volume only instruments lately and I don't think I'm going back
