I feel really bad for Bran the child, who was called there to the tree, only to have his "life" taken from him . I wonder to what extent Jojen even understood the reason they had to get Bran there.
I had the same thought: that Bran was the ultimate weapon created by the Children of the Forest. A human coopted to their ways as the final revenge against their enemies.
I almost cried when I finished the video, finally someone who still has a passion for this story, who wants to deepen it, analyze it. Thanks to you and to that good man who showed me your channel
If kings Landing gets devastated like it does in the show I could see king bran turning Harrenhal into the new capital. It's geographically central to Westeros and is right next to the isle of faces. Merge the crownlands and the Riverlands so the most vulnerable Provence is under direct protection of the king, plus it gives the king a huge number of directly sworn vassals/manpower. (Not that he'll likely need that manpower with the power of being basically the avatar of the old gods)
Great theory! I could totally see GRRM steering the story this direction, particularly since he has articulated that this is exactly what happens with fire wights-living, but not as themselves really.
While it had it's flaws; season eight had some good points too. It's good to hear from someone who has not thrown their hands up in the air. Great theory. Thank you.

GRRM always criticized Tolkien about the ending of LotR because little information about Aragon’s rule came from the Return of the King. I have little faith a Dream of Spring will ever be written and the show doesn’t help in revealing what happens with Bran after the credits role. The ending of A song of Ice and Fire is sudden and unknown.

Have you ever thought that the Night King and the White Walkers were the heroes who were doing everything they could to keep this from happening and lock the Three Eyed Raven in that cave forever? And the reason why they were always fighting was because their ability to communicate had been taken away?
im coming pretty late to the party but i wanted to add my personal insight into Brans arc. He's Leto II, the God Emperor, the Worm God. his story beats mirror alot of what Leto goes through up to his journey into the desert and his sand trout was the paste. He is going to change and live lives from the past, his older brother was slain and he is heir.
This is such a sophisticated, intricate idea; it's a shame they trusted one of the writers of X-Men Origins Wolverine with putting it to the screen. No wonder it falls flat. Transmutation of God image values throughout society is a great point. Notion of Bran drowning, actually becoming the drowned God. A notion that all membersnof the 7 kingdoms have forgotten their true beliefs and begun to role play the words of the old ways, literalising the metaphors into today's belief systems. Something very Jungian and Nietschean about all of this. Great video, as always.
Amazing video Joe. I wish others had taken to truly reflect on the ramifications of Bran becoming King rather the myriad ways D&,D screwed up a great story 💕
Good video Joe and a theory that certainly makes sense.. I wish that in the show they would have put a but more storyline into the 3-eyed raven/weirwoods so the audience could get a better understanding of this connection.
Now that we've heard Aegon's prophecy to his heirs,Of my blood will be the prince that was promised, and his will be the song of ice and fire...well,Bloodraven,a Targ bastard is IN that Bran raven body, both of them, fire &ice. They are both inside that sentient being that is using Bran Stark as a meat sack. Was Bloodraven waiting for Bran all those years in that weirwood for a bodysnatch? Bran wanting to know where Drogon was is so Bran AND Bloodraven can finally fly,and not just a raven, and Bloodraven gets a dragon( to warg)...
I don’t know if I buy the part specifically about “maybe there’s not enough room left in there for Bran,” like, it’s magic. If it wanted enough room for Bran, there would be. I think it’s more like Bran has been supplanted as the “personality with access to the light” as is described when he is Warging poor Hodor, or any of the stuff Varomir six skins describes about consciousnesses fading once they’ve been replaced by a stronger one; if you’re not stronger than a wolf’s instinctual drives and you warg into a wolf when your body dies, you will eventually just become a wolf again, the human consciousness fading almost entirely. That’s why they would try to jump human bodies, but even then, you can either be pushed out by the other person’s will if it rivals your own, so I think Bran is basically in the Sunken Place like from Get Out. He’s more willful than Hodor and has his own magical abilities, so I think for the “switcheroo” the three eyed raven pulled hints that whatever ancient, eldritch avatar of the old gods that has installed its software into Bran is not just not Blood Raven, it’s not even human and was simply using Blood Raven as his last puppet until his magically-extended life ran out and the three eyed raven could catfish Bran out to his little soul swap location and have a fresh body to be wheeled around while he fishes through time, pulling strings without any oversight. Woof. What a bleak outcome. I also liked your idea that like, seeing thousands of years of war and bloodshed and crimes against his own kin and family all at once kinda broke him and he’s suppressed his emotions to the point of not feeling any because it’s too much to know everything and also feel it.
love the insights and connections with ancient wizard kings, aswell.... adding the Valyrians to your list of overcomings the old gods did. Because adding the Valyrians to that list, contributes in any theory's about greenseers actually helping out pre-valyrians with dragonbonding as a weapon against the others. It's intriguing that Rhllor has the great other as it's nemesis, because it's the same nemesis the old gods have. Extrapolating..... there can be assumption of Rhllor to being more connect to old valyria then we have information about and maybe Rhllor, is a branched off aspect of the valyrian religion, maybe even reformed one or more times after. We know the old gods are a more ancient religion then the valyrian gods and it would be fantastic if there would be some canon source that could give more information about the origins of the Rhllor religion. If it predates valyrian gods aswell.... or if it was founded after the valyrian freehold was established. With the dragons, doing their own damage and bondage to the world, having that aspect removed, might be a priority for the "old gods". So yeah, love how you added them to your list of overcomings that the old gods did..... hinting towards setting another wrong right.... in this world.
I've heard plausible theories that R'hllor was a made up religion for the slaves of Valyria, especially since the Valyrians themselves did not really believe in higher powers. Rather that they were that higher power. Somebody sitting with a glass candle messing with people maybe? That's one answer I would love though, what exactly was that and how did it return people to life?
I loved this ending and to think people exist in this world that signed a petition because they wanted Jon to beat the ice zombie boss and rule happily ever after with his YAS queen. I don't think I can role my eyes any harder at their cliche wishes. ASOIF was and is great precisely because it does not copy every trope that's known to sell well.
My thought i Bran's kingship is the taking back of Westeros from the Andals and the Targaryians and giving it back to the first men and children of the forest.
Great choice for King. Bran is powerful, and delegation to those he trusts is how one rules effectively. No reason why he wouldn’t be a great ruler. Gotta love those old Celts.
The only winner was Brom !!!! He went from having a ale at the inn at the crossroads to brmeing Tyrion’s bitch, commander of city watch to a Ser to lord of stokeworth and then lord of HIGHGARDEN AND WARDEN IF THE SOUTH and A MEMBR IF The SMALL COUNCIL!!!🤣🤣
I have a theory that Bran was the one who made Dany go insane. He can talk to people over time. For the old gods to win Dany had to go insane and burn everything.
It's certainly out there that the whispers Targaryens hear aren't destiny but the people connected to trees. There's no telling where those visions come from, and it's hinted they can be faked.
Sounds like fan fiction. When will you Targaryen stans realize that Daenerys is seriously messed up especially in the books. Like her father, she burns people because it makes her feel powerful. Do not look for conspiracy to explain plain evil.
Bronn's journey is that of earthly opportunity. Guilds himself through earthly material means, the development of lordship a position not graced by gosmds but by Kings. He's the archetypal image of the upcoming human materialism, how man beats ancestry and godly right to grow their own empire. Something along those lines.... Little finger is another example of this, and just as the story ends we see Bronn picks up the mantle of the little finger.
@@JoeMagician Except that Bran lost himself long before he could even get to the place where he could run for king, and that he was always quite sure that he didn't want to become any kind of lord or king, but accepted the destiny as yet another one of his many self-sacrifices because he thinks yet again that the world needs it - whereas Bronn got exactly the kinds of things he wanted, and more of them than he ever dreamt of. Can it be called "winning" if you win something you don't even want, even if many others would want it for themselves and envy you for it? I say winning what you actually want beats that easily. That doesn't mean Bronn will be happy forever, though; but i expect he will be happier than Bran for many years to come, and i also expect Bronn will make more obvious use of his wealth and power. Either way, your analysis is great, as usual!
So how did the Old Gods get Tyrion to propose Bran's name and make others accept it without a challenge? Did Bran worg into each of them and do it, but failed only with Sansa? Given that the North and the wall and beyond are outside Bran's control, the wildlings moved back North of the wall potentially spreading across the only territory that still has Weirwoods in large numbers and chopping them down, what use is Bran becoming the King to their survival?
@@orphanedhanyou Oh! I am positive a convincing explanation for why after a considered opinion, the Council would choose Bran to be the King, exists. I can think of several myself. But I was responding to the stupid idea that it was a "conspiracy" of the weirwoods. By the way, stop waiting for the book series to be completed by GRRM. I doubt he has any plans to. He is busy writing and directing prequels for the TV.
This is an interesting theory and it makes a lot of sense. However, this change in Bran hasn’t fully happened in the books and considering the mess D&D made of the last 2-3 seasons...I think you’re giving them too much credit. Or, it’s a theory that fits INTO the mess D&D made.
Vrry interesting but I have a slight quibble. You refer to the Fisher King protecting England. This myth is more accurately called Brythonic than Celtic and this is important in that Britain is being protected, by Arthur and the Fisher King, from those who created England, the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes.
@Lianne Knox Is it? Wow. George did say that he essentially can't move forward with a character until their name is figured out, and that each character named is named so for a specific reason.
Now that they have him on the throne I just wonder what the old gods would want for Westeros? What are they going to have King Bran do? I’m curious about their motivations, they wanted to dethrone the Targaryens and rule but for what reason. I’m just wondering if this is a good or bad ending. They really should have spent more time in the show on this stuff, then maybe people wouldn’t have been so irritated by Bran ending up on the throne. I’m sure the book will explain it better.
In this world we know that Varyria rose after the long night. Is it also possible that dragon bonding is a form of warging, and Dany "becomes" the dragon.
I don't think of it as warging or skin changing. It's the blood and blood magic. I think of it similar to a Vampire's minion. A vampire's minion can feel when the vampire is in distress and is unable to resist servicing the vampire's will.
Order of the Greenhand just made a very interesting video about the Targaryens, specifically, and their "bonds" with their dragons. Definitely worth a watch!
Bran is constantly breaking taboos and rules with his powers. I cant imagine him getting off lightly and its seems apt that it would be from digging too deep
So are tha old gods still going require blood sacrifices ? In nature there are top predators are tha old gods on tha top of tha food chain so to speak ?
Bran died in the cave holding the door the raven warged into bran when or just before the kk killed him it was obvious this entire story was the 3 eyed raven being the puppet master starting with the wolves being sent to the starks till why do you think I traveled all this way
Bran played everyone. He lied about not wanting to rule when he was just manipulating everyone and every event to become king. What horrible things would he manipulate and cause to get what he wants? I guess we won't know.
Maybe it's something nice, like he's gonna make a utopia of harmony between man and nature? Although his willingness to throw people he should care about away for his personal goals is troubling. Maybe a utopia paved with blood.
It’s about time someone understood this. Everyone keep calling Bran King but he is not Bran & my theory is that he represents religious order & for me, it is unsettling... try getting off that wheel.
You shouldn't say "I think" as if it's your idea. It's a pretty well known pet 'theory'/fan fiction of Targaryen fans who can't accept that their idol is an evil brutal b!tch! 😂 In the books it's way more obvious that she's the Mad King reborn. Burning people makes her feel powerful. The entire anti-slavery schtick is just to cover up what lies underneath and gives her a plausible sounding pretext for atrocity. Even the slaves she 'liberated' are suffering from her rule. If you set a bunch of slaves free and they end up coming back to you begging to be a slave again because life was easier then, you know you've fucked up royally.
Celtic is pronounced "Keltic" just to put that out there. I know there is an American baseball team called that, using a soft "c", but I promise my kindred don't

Bran is constantly breaking taboos and rules with his powers. I cant imagine him getting off lightly and its seems apt that it would be from digging too deep
❤ it!!!!!!
The time has come..for u to become me
The book could very well pull off and build up this ending. It's just about how well its executed. The show did it awfully. But GRRM is not D&D, so...
I definitely think greenseers will be Kings of the six kingdoms
Probably the north too, they hold sway there too which might be why Bran agreed.
So are tha old gods still going require blood sacrifices ? In nature there are top predators are tha old gods on tha top of tha food chain so to speak ?
Absolute nightmare fuel.
So, it seems about right.
Bran died in the cave holding the door the raven warged into bran when or just before the kk killed him it was obvious this entire story was the 3 eyed raven being the puppet master starting with the wolves being sent to the starks till why do you think I traveled all this way
Aye, we’re the Riverlands included in Sansa’s northern kingdom? Just asking for a friend…
Nope, Edmure Tully took the Lordship of the Riverlands back from the Starks when Robb died
❤️👍🏼
So you’re saying Bran is going to turn into a worm and rule Westeros for a thousand years?
With gholas of Duncan the Tall at his side
But would you still love him if he were a worm?
so where would the story go from there? Seems like we're going into against a magical AI 'burn every tree' situation.
@@JoeMagicianI see your point. Utopias are often not as wonderful as they appear. Anybody who goes against the idea in any way is persecuted. Lol
💓🔥💓
It’s about time someone understood this. Everyone keep calling Bran King but he is not Bran & my theory is that he represents religious order & for me, it is unsettling... try getting off that wheel.
At least it's a *different* wheel now 🤷♀️
Bran is the avatar
Everything changed when the -fire nation- Targaryens attacked
Bronn is the real winner in the game of thrones.
He has the power of souls
This means he can make anyone
Immortal
Even his hands of the king midget
Brandon alright.
Bran
I think that Bran will warg into Drogon while Dany is riding him and burn down King's Landing causing WESTEROS to turn on Dany.
You shouldn't say "I think" as if it's your idea.
It's a pretty well known pet 'theory'/fan fiction of Targaryen fans who can't accept that their idol is an evil brutal b!tch! 😂
In the books it's way more obvious that she's the Mad King reborn.
I hate the king bran idea. I know grrm confirmed it but I hate the king bran idea.
Bran becomes king made zero sense to me
Bran is personification of modern political leaders...and I don't like him.
Celtic is pronounced "Keltic" just to put that out there. I know there is an American baseball team called that, using a soft "c", but I promise my kindred don't
Basketball* And yes I'm aware
