- A God Incarnate. A City Doomed.
From Hideaki Anno, the mind behind EVANGELION. The King of Monsters receives a terrifying resurgence.
It's a peaceful day in Japan when a strange fountain of water erupts in the bay, causing panic to spread among government officials. At first, they suspect only volcanic activity, but one young executive dares to wonder if it may be something different - something alive. His worst nightmare comes to life when a massive, gilled monster emerges from the deep and begins tearing through the city, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake.
As the government scrambles to save the citizens, a rag-tag team of volunteers cuts through a web of red tape to uncover the monster's weakness and its mysterious ties to a foreign superpower. But time is not on their side, and the greatest catastrophe to ever befall the world is about to evolve right before their very eyes.

It's hard to believe no broadcast venue has shown this. Shin remains an unseen gem to many.
finished it an hour ago, loved it so much, HAVE to watch Shin Ultraman now
@@Hekai Where did you see it?
Trash movie lol godzilla moving at 1fps like a animated movie and you call this good? Lol gtfo here godzilla 2014 is miles ahead of this even with his 10 mins of screen time in there lol
Hollywood Godzilla is just a soulless cash grab. Shin Godzilla is art
@@silentslayergaming8469Hollywood godzilla is my go to giant monster battle with plot other than the og godzilla movies
This is my favourite trailer ever. The music combined with that last far away shot of godzilla, and the roar.
Oh man that roar is epic at the end
The music on this trailer isn't original, he is of the film: Godzilla 2000
Ikr
The fast editing and tiny snap shots of Godzilla are incredible.
Yes I absolutely Agree
Makes you wonder how colossal this movie could've been, if it had Monsterverse level budgets and marketing done.
It doesn't need it. This Godzilla is miles more realistic than anything Universal shits out with their Monsterverse films.
@@DeadEyeJ I want more people to know of this. Anyway, gotta admire how this movie paints Godzilla as nothing less than what it is: a MONSTER, an ANIMAL. Unlike the Monsterverse, which can't stop slobbering over the overly personified lizard every time its on screen, with royal music and slow mo camera shots. Shin Godzilla was TERRIFYING.
@@cranjusmcbasketball4977 it was THE Biggest Godzilla film in Japan EVER. A lot of people know about it my guy
Japan has been making lots of Godzilla movies decades before monsterverse. They pretty much know what they're doing now.
@@ShoppingBored People get to snobby over these. I think monsterverse did an amazing job, they breathed new life into the franchise. They made good movies. I was raised on the originals and I think this was a great re-entry to the modern movie world still with that classic and original Japanese style of Godzilla. I can't believe people talk down on this and Monsterverse! Again I was raised on the original movies and have seen every Godzilla movie. I think it's crazy not to love these new movies that do not disappoint in the direction that they choose to go.
This and Godzilla Minus One are examples as to why no other country could make a better Godzilla movie other than Japan
Best Godzilla movie ever. The way it shows how people and the government would actually react to something as catastrophically destructive as Gojira is amazingly realistic and believable. The overall feels is just so tense and keeps us over the edge of our seat. 10/10 easy. Better than any of the USA ones. No disrespect intended though, the American movies are great, it's just...this one's better.
Edit : I haven't seen Minus One, it didn't release in my country for whatever stupid reason. I'll probably be back in a few months with a review once the movie comes to streaming.
Edit 2 : I saw Minus One, friggin finally, and ...yeah, it's so, so much better, it's ridiculous-
Feel free to "disrespect" the American ones because they, in essence disrespected what Godzilla is about for their own gain.
They wanted the licence to make the movies without caring to adapt a narrative that suited it the kaiju, instead opting to have him run around like some generic lizard with nary a purpose other than to be shot at.
They were horrible and Toho refused to lend Gojira to the west for quite some period of time off the disrespect of the arrogant directors/Writers.
This one is miles better than all the others then id put 2014 next

@@wooliamsheeper3839 and yet I am, so now it's everyone's problem
This movie is essentially a perfect Godzilla film. There is a slight low-budget feel to it that I'd argue is a defining feature of the original Godzilla films. Would've loved to see this in cinema.
Low budget? I mean compare this to monterverse (300m)
Shin Godzilla is only 90m$
Minus one is 15m$ but it was made by 3 very hard working studio
Edit: Holy Jesus Christ Shin Godzilla is actually below 100k USD at the time of Japan currency wtf 💀
What did you think of minus 1 ?

Godzilla minus one is hands down the best Godzilla film ever
The fact that I didn't know this movie existed is insane. And I watched every recent godzilla movie.
That’s why
God damn i always keep comming back to watch this trailer. The presentation is amazing. No need of a fancy dialogue followed up by some loud bass noises, some action scenes and a joke scene at the end.
The creative team behind the edit were amazing.
Anno knew how to build the tension :0
Lmao, that's a perfect description of pretty much every Hollywood trailer nowadays! 😂
I love how the trailer feels very old-timey, hearkens back to the old Godzilla movies.
I think it's about time they take back a staple to their culture and do it right
pretty sure you just watched a video where they DID do it right
@@taleipayne987 I think you were 1-2 years too late there
-I say, replying to a comment 2 months old-
Even tho the movies are campy and cheesy, the Toho movies were always done right. There's a reason why they were more popular then the 1998 Hollywood's Godzilla.
By far the best Godzilla
The governmental system also evolves like a slow monster, so the greatest kaiju battle film ever
Every time I remember that Hideki Anno directed this, I get the most intense "Yep that explains a lot" feeling
Best movie in the franchise and best monster design by far.
Agreed.
This trailer is beautiful and it doesn't even do true justice to the masterpiece of Shin Godzilla. Mind blowing movie
Classic soundtrack of Godzilla
This has to be one of the best movie trailers I've seen, and it doesn't even spoil all the best bits; perfect trailer
why this wasn't released worldwide is something I would never understand
Godzilla minus one takes the cake
Godzilla in this movie really lived up to the title's name. Shin Godzilla, True Godzilla.
You can feel the tension even from just watching the trailer :0
No I didn’t
@@journalsfromdavidI'm sure ur the monke fan
As a child of the late 50’s and 60’s that theme music is iconic for me.
I love how we barley see Godzilla throughout the movie, up until it reaches it's bigger forms, like we're watching this with the other humans (and yes, I know we see his first form early on, but that doesn't last long).
What makes this movie the best isn't just the special effects. This is just as much a movie about the state of Japan at the time, having just dealt with a nuclear meltdown at Fukushima, being weighed down by political bureaucracy, and always in the shadow of the US military. The true victory in this story isn't defeating Godzilla, it is doing so without America's bombs. This is why no one saw this movie in NA, as they will always have America's version of Godzilla shoved down their throats.
Ah, my favorite Godzilla. This guy was originally planned to have 4 more forms, which literally turns Godzilla into a fucking god.
It's crazy, I love it.
Shin Godzilla- the only Godzilla that makes good on the God aspect of its name
Now THAT, is a goddamn trailer.
I watched this going in thinking "oh, Anno made a Godzilla movie, might as well watch it" and it ended up being probably my favourite Japanese live action movie of the last decade.
If I could wish for five movies to (re)watch at an IMAX, this would be one of them.
Just fucking blow my eardrums out, Anno!
Wow how long since I last saw Godzilla
Please make a Shin Godzilla 2!!!
I really am looking forward to that.
This movie was INSANE. SO GOOD. SO SO SO GOOD. ill never be the same man dude
I love this movie! :D Godzilla Minus One was an incredible follow up.
0:58 THE UNUSED SCENE!
The best Godzilla movie by far
i've GOT to rewatch this
Some people keep forgetting Godzilla is a Japanese franchises. They're not making a 'Japanese Adaptation' of it.
Let them be, their ignorants that not make their homework. Shin Godzilla is the first movie i see (when i was a child the 90s american film was my first) but always i knew that this monster was of an asian country. Now with all the tecnology people are more ignorant that me with 5 years without internet or social media... amazing.
The Brawl Stars backround music💀 i thought it first was a joke
Me too lol
It's the original Godzilla theme
I hope ur saying that as a joke
This trailer doesn't even do how terrifying this version is
Who's here after the shin ultraman trailer?
Me ☝️
I don't know why I think Shin Ultraman's trailer has the same vibe as this (or maybe Shin Ultraman is indeed a sequel to Shin Godzilla, that's why the film was produced by Toho and Khara and used the same staff as Shin Godzilla). 👀

I still havent seen this but from what I have seen, this looks fckng amazing. I love practical effects.
Some people will not understand this film since they didn't understand what Godzilla was originally.
Gojira is a titan of terror. A chaos and a destroyer.
I like the way they made it a hero in later films of Toho
But the original Gojira is seriously the best one
Shin Godzilla had the spirit of original but with Lovecraftian themes
They made it again a destroyer and a total disaster
This trailer is great! It reminds me of Alien 1979 trailer where there's no dialogue only the classic siren music which Prometheus 2012 trailer did too
Though this gave Godzilla scenes unlike the latter two trailers which showed no glimpse of the antagonist
This still great!

And to think this whole movie came from Hideaki Anno being a bit pissy about how the Japanese government handled the tsunami that fucked up the Fukushima nuclear plant...
Okay and? That was the same message gojira had about the dangers of nuclear power and being inspired by the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
@@Kaiju-bm4ts - The political message in this movie is quite silly and it's pure fanservice, the whole thing is "government bad, freaks and geeks good" with the stillborn final form straight up being a bunch of humans because "humans were the real cancer all along". Instead of a more realistic take talking about how good men with great ideas get slowed down by bad press and pointless laws, how good leaders can change things for the better bit by bit, it's just pandering to redditors and whatever Reddit-esque hellhole Japan has.
Also, never forghetti how tremendously stupid and straight up bad representations are whenever Hideaki Anno tries to represent someone not from Japan. Dude's incredibly racist in an UNIRONIC UNFUNNY way. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the next "average American" kind of character in his works is a 6ft5in black bodybuilder with a submachine gun permanently ready. Mickey Rooney playing a Chinese guy was more respectful than the average foreign character in a Hideaki Anno project!
@@DanArnets1492 My guy how is a direct commentary on how slow the Japanese government was on a nuclear disaster "fan service" 🤦, great job misusing the entire term.
Fan service is using classic godzilla music or roars, recreating classic or memorable quotes or scenes. Essentially godzilla final wars or kotm are examples of what pure unadulterated fan service is. Shin gojira being inspired by the only other extremely bad nuclear disaster to strike Japan isn't fan service. How is that fan related to anything when the Fukushima nuclear disaster was preventable and WASN'T good for anyone who was affected.
Literally none of this rant you went on about made a lick of sense and missed the entire point of the message of the movie along with unintentionally downplaying how bad the nuclear disaster was. Also shin gojira had no final form in the movie, the 5th form is one of the many forms shin could of taken. If you want a shin gojira with a final form go look at godzilla ultima. This entire comment was more of a excuse to hate anno than talking about the movie itself, kinda petty
@@Kaiju-bm4ts - The SOLUTION is pure fanservice, it's telling the nerds that love Hideaki Anno garbage that they could solve a crisis if given a chance. The callbacks are also fanservice but that's to be expected and it wasn't excessive or egregious.
PS: You didn't mention Hideaki's xenophobia because you know that stuff is 100% impossible to defend. I guess omission is how you show you agree.
@@DanArnets1492 shin gojira doesn't do what kotm and FW do, both of which are just mindless action films that while entertaining put fan service before actual plot. Shin gojira doesn't have anywhere near as much fan service as those two films do and is more plot focused than anything else so how is it overun with fan service when it's a political commentary?. Following that logic the original gojira was a fan service film to fans of beast from 20,000 fathoms and king kong since Honda was inspired by those two films to direct gojira
I don't even pay attention to anno's personal life (or don't care to look into it), I only watched evangelion (original and rebuild) once and moderately liked them but nothing too groundbreaking for me to gush over. Again your comments aren't even ranting about shin gojira correctly, they're just a petty excuse to show your hate boner for anno for some reason. Stop trying to turn this into something it's not
I just ordered this movie togheter with 1962 king kong vs Godzilla, i hope its as good as everyone says

This movie is way better than the godawful western (Monsterverse) reboot and its sequels.
Godzilla vs Kong felt like a Marvel movie instead of a Kaiju film.
The music(apart from the godzilla horn) sounds very much like Clint Mansell, who did the sound track to requiem for a dream.
👍👍👍
so cool
What an awesome movie! Enjoyed it from beginning to end. The monster was totally awesome, as was the film visually. The dialogue was a little frantic, but I enjoyed how different it was from other films I've seen, perhaps because it is Japanese. 10/10
fun fact:in cinema there is a tactic called *the shin godzilla tactic* it’s where movie reput old music and sounds from their previous movies
I love movie so much
About fucking time.
I already watch the full movie and i like it
Is it in English?
lol this is my favorite godzilla movie
It seems to be more about a country dealing with a natural disaster than about Godzilla himself. It looks grounded and realistic. For some reason I feel a lot more interested now. How good is the cgi though... Might break the immersion if it’s not really good.
The cgi is fine. In some places it looks a bit weird but pretty decent ngl. The movie however, is really good at using miniatures. So it has this feeling that the old Godzilla movies had, but now with a more modern take (and bigger budget).
So, do we like this more than GM1? This used to be my favorite Godzilla movie and now I can't pick between them lol. I feel like GM1 is easier to enjoy as a movie, but Shin Godzilla has remarkable scenes
This is like the nier automata of the Godzilla movies
Whats the trailer's theme? Its amazing
The original Godzilla theme from 1954
@@iman5584 do you know the name of the track at 1:05?
Imagine Kong facing off against all of Godzilla's past movie enemies, and just getting tossed around like a been bag by some. But then completely destroyed by Gamera, Shin Godzilla, Mecha Godzilla, Ghidora, n the rest of the top dogs.
No offense, but one reason this movie works so well is because it takes place in a fictional world where there is exactly one giant monster, no more
We don't have to "IMaGiNe" - that is what the Godzilla franchise is.
Anyone know of an English subtitled Japanese audio version?
