Coincidentally I just beat Dhoulmagius and couldn't agree more. Thankfully I played the 3DS version so spending 30 minutes grinding on some Metal Slimes was easy, just needed enough levels to have access to Multiheal.
@@dukey03 I haven't played the original, but considering you can see overworld monsters on 3DS I guess it's easy because a bunch of them spawn near the Hunting Ground. Just walk up to them and you initiate battles with a row of 6 Metal Slimes.
It's not frustrating in the same way as many of these, but because it's long and unavoidable in each and every playthrough of FFVII - the Nibelheim flashback in Kalm. I dread it every single time, and you know even the devs were aware of how tedious it was going to be since they threw in the chance to save half-way through.
Yeah for me everything from the start of FF7 until the end of Golden Saucer is a complete SLOG! I never got past Golden Saucer until a couple years ago when I finally finished it on stream
THAT SONG LMFAO but yeah I think my least favorite part of X has to be Mt Gagazet. The encounter rate is atrocious and the boss fight in the end is a bastard.
haha i feel you i was so disappointed from bravely default ,also lost interested after beating it the second time but the true ending of this game is a cool twist but not worth all the hassle
Oh god man. The loop. I’ve been slowly picking at Bravely Default for the past year. I’ll finish it eventually but if a game’s gonna pull that crap, it’s not binge-worthy
Great content! I was 7 when DQ8 came out and I had to pass the game onto my older brother to beat Dhoulmagus. Now that I'm a capable player I just get Angelo to level 36? Whenever he learns multiheal, and keep him using kabuff, multiheal, and continuous tension building
You are either a stronger or more persistent man than I hahaha! Thankfully my buddy Paul had beaten it and let me know of it’s bullshit after the first loop
The Dharma (And Greg) Temple sequence and the Rhode to Rhone is like getting a kick to the nuts..... and in the case of Rhode to Rhone, Getting one whilst your already down. I know this is from a Western RPG but anyone who's played Fallout 2 knows about the Temple of Trials, A mess of a Tutorial level that pretty much fails it's job as a Tutorial Level, Unless you picked unarmed and melee as your tagged skills you will be missing your your attacks towards the enemy (Which are not appropriate for that point in the game), You also fight a tough boss at the end and unless you specifically picked the unarmed skill then you will most likely get your ass handed to you in a unfair fight, At no point does this level tell you that you don't have to fight the boss at all, You can either talk or pickpocket your way out, But after you getb through the that mess the world of Fallout 2 is your Oyster.
From the top of my head: Crystal Tower/Dark World from FF III (overall great game except for a few bumps here and there but the final dungeons are brutal and you have to fight 6 of the strongest bosses in the game, including the final boss, without saving) Fanatics Tower from FF6 (my favorite game of all time but this side quest is very tedious and the "magic only" gimmick quickly overstays it's welcome) The underground dark maze from Secret of Evermore (this dungeon doesn't really add anything to the story and is super confusing) Sol from Legend of Legaia (Kinda feels like D-District prison from FF VIII to me) I know there are many more but those are the ones I can think of right now
Zenebatos from The Legend of Dragoon. Awful idea. You had to wait in line to change laws or whatever in order to just proceed. It was a boring and tedius task, and you always had to watch out for robots that would take you to prison. Great game with a spectacular story, but that one dungeon made me sick.
in Grandia there is an optional dungeon tower place in a desert that is 100x worse than the end of the world, i had to watch a you tube video step by step to get through it
1. Based for loving Dragon Quest VII 2. Honestly Alltrades/Dharma is honestly not my least favorite area (That place is Nottagen) it can be very tedious with the backtracking and with how many bosses there are. Like seriously why are there 10 bosses (yes I counted, and this includes the 2 force list fights) with this one area? Also while it is annoying to not have your spells, there is a casino slightly before the mayham so you can prepare as much as you want with equipment and more money than what is expected at this point, at the very least it helps with the money needed for herbs and such
It just lasts SOOO LOOOONG before you get back to normal story progression. Also; the casino is only helpful if you already know what hell awaits you, even then; Penal is SO long and painful
Not necessarily. Rogue Galaxy on PS2 was my favorite game for probably 8 or so years. When I went back to play it again more recently, I had realized that it kinda aged like shit compared to similar games from that era. I still love the game, but I can admit it’s aged like crap
@@dukey03 instill prefer the original Resident Evil games to all the remakes. For me, I don't care how any game I love has aged. If you love it, you love it.
@@danielpayne7194 some games can show their age, whilst some games are timeless. Mega Man 2 for example will never feel outdated. If you’re a fan of 2D action platformers, chances are you’ll enjoy Mega Man 2 whether it’s an old favorite, or it’s your first time playing it
@@dukey03 I recently acquired the Mega Man collections for my PS4. So I know what you mean. I played the first Mega Man when it was released. Still great now.
Cloister of Trials? Really? I genuinely love them! Personally I'd say the LIGHTNING DODGE MINIGAME is the worst part of X. Or if you want to stick with mandatory stuff then the blitzball game against the Goers. I really enjoy blitzball, but that first game is nerve wracking. Hell, I would have picked the card game from 9 over anything from X
The needlessly difficult arena time trial type deal in Ys IX. Great game, pretty much all around, EXCEPT for that bullshit task. And it's required to continue the game.
Skies of Arcadia love! South Ocean was awful on dreamcast. It was much better on Gamecube with the fixed encounter rate and faster transition/loading into battle.
I was lucky enough to beat Tendo on my first try so I didn't get that same frustration. The worst part of Yakuza 7 for me was Yokohama Underground. It's obscenely long, visually repetitive and ugly, and the music got annoying. Bloody Mary from Terranigma was a huge difficulty spike and the only spot in the game where magic is mandatory. FF12's great crystal. I don't even think I have to say anything about that. Xenoblade 1 has two culprits, but thankfully they're some of the smaller areas. The Ether Mines and Bionis Interior are just dreadful with the latter capping off with the worst boss in the game. Honorable mention to all the tutorials in Mario and Luigi Dream Team. Not traditional "those parts" but just as annoying.
Oh man I love Xenoblade Chronicles so much! I found the Mechonis interior to take FOREVER and forgot all about that part. Yeah the underground was unfortunately the only really good place to grind in Yakuza 7 and it got super repetitive and tedious to do. I felt like up until Millennium Tower the pacing was really good, but once you get there you needed to stop and grind forever
What parts do YOU always dread when playing your favorite JRPGs?
Was never a fan of the desert on BOF3
Final Fantasy X's temple trials

Really fun idea for a video! I had to skip a few of the parts that I'm kind of soon about to play, but I could see most of it. 😁
