Crownleyian: It's a fast, off-camber corner that you initiate just after cresting a hill. Off-camber means the outside of the corner is lower than the inside, making the car want to slide wide. Since you're just coming over a crest, the car also tends to be "light" at that part of the track, so there's less grip available just as you're initiating the turn. It's a deceptively difficult portion of the track because, at first blush, it looks like you can run it flat out, but that's not possible. And you need to brake slightly before cresting the hill, so you have to know the corner is coming because the braking zone begins before you actually see the corner.
@Crownleyian The track goes slightly down there. That combined with lifting the throttle (shifting the car's weigth forward) creates a lift-off oversteer combination which makes the driver lose control over his car.
That's exactly what happens when you rely on the electronics of your car rather then your actual ability's. Even if he kept his foot in it the result would have been the same. He should have just slowed down before the hill.
thats right. the number one subaru killer is its tendency to slide the rear tires. in this case people tend to forget that when the car lifts in the air or just lift its weight just a little, the front tires make contact first braking the car in the front and as the rear tires stay on the air or holding less weight of the car , rear tend to slide even worse than an FF or FR car just because the front tires keep sending torque to the rear like if you keep the gas pressed on a FR will drift
Can someone explain how easily the car looses grip? I know the speed (221ks) was a factor but that seemed too little to disturbe a car like the WRX STI. Hell even my Clio RS 200 wouldn't loose control like that so easily, was the track wet? More power set to the rear wheels? In my opinion the driver should of down shifted to prepare for the curve but I might be wrong. Please explain I'm very curious.
If you listen one of them had the window open causes massive weight changes as change speeds. Used to happen with Ford Sierras esp the three door if wound window down Essex Police wrote quite a few off over it till Ford added a trim on back end of rear windows to channel air so kept in check with window open!

Forza Racing line Assistance tells me I can 🥺
Wow a explanation, thanks, nine years later.
To the credit of the video game makers, they really have nailed simulating this track. I have crashed here well over a dozen times.

Das war allerdings in dem Fall kein Fehler der zum Ausbrechen führte.

why would he downshift at 220km/h?
@TheNewkick weil der streckenabschnitt schwedenkreuz heisst
Going in way to fast at Schwedenkreuz, many people go of there.
Passiert häufiger am schwedenkreuz. Kein grund hier zu beleidigen

Yeah, you did ask "Can someone explain how easily the car looses grip?". You got a pretty good answer, so relax.
Man have you never played Gran Turismo... that corners always does that to a car at speed! lol
