Thanks for the video, used this to get mine installed. Agreed, yeah those back bolts were a pain and need to be changed.

Big help! I'm glad I found you. I replaced the bolts with metric hex head bolts because it was way too complex to use their fasteners. My front mount was threaded but coated with bed liner from the factory so that was fun. I'd recommend chasing the threads before installation.
    Once again, thanks!

Glad it was helpful. And yes, good idea to chase those threads. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙

I trimmed the rails 1/8" instead of cutting the tailgate liner. I just filed and closed the gate until it fit right.
      Once again thank you

Thanks for this video, it was excellent in helping me install my cover. Those jacknuts are really flimsy, aren't they? I wonder why they didn't include real rivnuts, which are far sturdier? I managed to overtighten one of the jacknuts and destroyed it, I ended up working a small ratchet between the bed and cab and inserting a bolt that way. And your suggestion of using regular hex head metric bolts at the tailgate sides was a real timesaver, that let me use my M10 ratcheting box wrench to tighten the bolts rather than that little Torx screwdriver thingy.
All in all I like the cover, but that mounting hardware for the rails is just awful.

Glad the video was helpful. And yeah, I love the cover too but that hardware really needs an upgrade. Thanks for the comment and for watching... I really appreciate your feedback! 🤙

Well you saved me from pulling out my hair, what a bag of hardware indeed... does your tonneau appear slightly sunken in on top near the screw in caps towards the cabside? Wondering if I screwed in mine too tight.

No, ours looks really nice and flat. You may want to check those caps. Glad your hair was saved. I lost mine years ago 🙂 Thanks for the comment and for watching! 🤙

Getting one of these put on today! Looks like a good tonneau cover? Any leaks since installing? Thanks.

No leaks. It has been a really good cover. I have a different brands on my Colorado and have been very pleased with them both. The jeep belongs to my wife and she always raves about the cover. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙

@@OkieTwister66 So my accessory shop went to install my BAKFLIP Mx4 today but couldn’t get the tailgate to close. I’m talking by like a 16th of an inch close. Are the rails that tight to the tailgate or maybe the wrong rails were sent in the packaging. I have a spray in liner but it is 2-3 millimetres thick max and should not make a difference in the tailgate closing or not.

@@richelsd man I don't know what to say. Our tailgate seems a little tall when closing it but when you do it pushes the rails up a little forming a nice tight seal. Thwy may need to be adjusted slightly or you may be right, they sent the wrong rails? Jeep Gladiator? We have the spray ininer as well and it did not seem to make any difference. I hope you can get that sorted out. It has been a good cover for us.

Thanks for the video. This helped a lot, but I’m having an issue with fit as well. I can’t even get the rear bolts to line up with the threads. It’s already pushed as far in as I can get it and it’s still not able to fit in. My rails also looked freshly cut out of packaging and still could see the fresh shavings on and around the bag. It is sharp and I don’t think very safe. Also I would think that they would powder coat after cutting to prevent corrosion. Has anyone experienced the same thing? I’ve emailed my sales rep about it.

That sounds odd. I did not have any of those issues. Hopefully, the rep will help you out. Thanks for the comment and for watching 🤙

Can you by chance provide the size of the torx bolts for those of us that wish to head over to the hardware store to change 'em out before we get started?

    • @OkieTwister66
      @OkieTwister66  2 года назад

Unfortunately I don't have the exact specs of those. The ones they included work ok but they are a pain to use as it is difficult to get a torx bit/wrench on them. You may want to take them along with you to the hardware store and find some same length and thread pitch. They usually have a handy tool for that. Get some that have a standard head on the, one you can get a standard wrench on from the side. Hope that helps. I love the cover, by the way. Works as hoped and expected, and keeps the bed dry.
