I grew up in Arlington and Elk Grove Village. The Bears once attempted to "move' to Elk Grove and was loudly voted down by EGV. Displacement, taxes, and who pays what were the main issues. Cellular Field was pushed through by the help of ex-gov Jim Thompson. The Bears need a political ally in order to "move". I have mixed feelings. It is too bad you never attended Arlington Race track. It was a palace compared to many of the tracks around the country today. You did not have to bet on the ponys to have a good time. Useless fact : Secretariat once ran at Arlington and won! Wayne Gretzky also had a horse Golden Pheasant that won the Arlington Million. Ah, memories! Great idea for the vlog. Travel safe.

Thank you Jeff for watching! I may not be into horse racing, but Secretariat is a story that I’ve always been fascinated by. Thanks for sharing that. I had no idea he ran at Arlington.

I believe Da Bears were 3 and 14 this past season. I think they have more important things to deal with than a new stadium. I guess it doesn’t matter so much to me as to where they play as I’ve only been to a couple college games in my life, football is just way better to watch on TV and way less expensive too. If I were allowed a vote I’d say stay at Soldier Field for the tradition and history…

Appreciate the watch, but I will say that both issues (on-field product and stadium) can be addressed at the same time without sacrificing quality.

The city of Chicago could have sold that property to the Bears.... Since they didn't have the money to me, maintain or do all the necessary renovations to the place.... But this team is worth too much money and they don't capitalize on all the revenue that they should be making.... For years the city of Chicago, we're just being greedy and foolish about this property and the direction that the city should go in in the future... With all the tremendous urban redevelopment that's been going on in the city for the last 20 years, it just makes sense... Whatever happened the last time they were at the negotiation table, the ownership of the Bears said we're done.... And I'm sure they wanted that same property that beautiful lakefront property.... But the race track deal is too sweet. It reminds me of the racetrack deal that the Rams got for that amazing location in Hollywood that wasn't generating any money in an eyesore to the city of Los Angeles.... After spending all of that money to purchase the property, the city of Chicago decides to really make a serious proposal to come up with renderings of a new dome stadium and redevelopment in the surrounding areas when they could have did this collectively... Mayor Lightfoot hasn't been very great for the city of Chicago, but at least this would have been the one positive thing on her legacy making sure that the hometown's team stays in the city....

Instead she decided to make some poorly worded statement about how the Bears should just focus on beating Green Bay. Talk about not reading the room correctly.

They should of put the some on it a LONG time ago. This isn't rocket 🚀 science.

I hate Soldier Field. I hate commuting to the stadium, I hate it when I am trying to get to work and other people are commuting to the stadium. The architectural direction it went in when the UFO landed on top of it was awful. It's awful during winter and most of spring, and it's somehow the lowest NFL stadium by capacity in the whole league.
That being said, it is sad to see the organization moving on from Chicago. It's not uncommon at all in the NFL to have a franchise outside of city limits, and Arlington Heights will be superior in every way...but it's a bummer. In my perfect world, it'd be built in a separate location within the city, wouldn't displace any communities, and wouldn't totally piss off its neighbors (and we'd beat the Packers).
Even though I found the gameday experience to be awful, there is something tangibly awesome about having a sports stadium right on the lake. It's unique as far as NFL stadiums go, and this whole experience has been jarring. Also very bittersweet to see the racetrack go...I feel like that angle of this situation is being lost in the clownshow.
