I found the review a little contradictory and it seemed to overlook the fact that a lot of the issues she identified with the first gen are resolved with WatchOS3, so really it comes down to how badly you need waterproofing and in-watch GPS.
I want to understand the force that drives an otherwise normal human being to remove the required "the" that comes before the word "iPhone". Watch the video and listen to how she's forcing herself to say "[...] the Activity app on iPhone" as opposed to the normal, natural, unbiased "[...] the Activity app on THE iPhone". During the iPhone 7 keynote Apple presenters were doing it too, and it was great to hear Phil Schiller "mistakenly" add the "the" before the word iPhone a couple of times. Again, this is very unnatural and I seriously hope it stays with fanboys and never picks up any steam.
Lucas Medina D'Abate Yeah you're right. Maybe the real Laura is trapped in some basement and the evil Laura is stealing her limelight. I guess we'll never know....
I give props to Apple for putting some desired features in the AW Series 2, but as a Series 0 owner, I don't think ill be upgrading. Thanks Verge for covering it though! Something to think about.
It looks fine from the side view. If you see it straight on, it looks completely different. See image of CNET review. cdn.bgr.com/2016/09/090716-apple-airpods-music-7021.jpg?quality=98&strip=all&strip=all
It's because she have a long hair. And still they look stupid without wires, the design simply doesn't fit, it was made for wires and it looked good that way, wireless should have another design more of a bragi dash or something similar in terms of design.
The one thing I really like is how they are making people become more aware that they need to take a few minutes out of their day, sit still and breathe. Most people don't realize how important that is to your mental health. You can seriously turn your mind into an organized filing cabinet with meditation. It'll help yourself to think on your actions a little more, not feeling like you have no control of your thoughts and you only worry about stressful situations (tests, job, emergencies, etc) when it's actually time to confront them which also become easier to deal with through meditation
Yeah, I read and saw the short review, but I\d like to see a review from someone that has used the AirPods for at least a week, in the day to day live. I looks like they are currently under review, so I guess the review will be launched with the release of the AirPods
Laura did an amazing job on this video (as usual) but I wanted to recognize the *amazing* job the team did filming and editing this review. It's maybe the best looking Verge review video I've ever seen. Excellent work!
Those of you looking for a hardcore fitness/training watch, check out the Garmin Fēnix 3. Great outdoor visibility, excellent battery life, and both fitness and activity tracking (with some light smartwatch features thrown in).

I was about to give up on The Verge (as if that matter to anyone) and keeping around just for Vlad wasn't enough then this girl came around (with the M(B)oss) and I bookmarked it again. Nothing like a geek crush, makes me feel 15 again!
Faster than the original watch but both series 1 and 2 have a dual processor and most reviews say they have the same speeds. I believe the S2 chip in the series 2 also refers to the built in GPS.
'I tested the new Apple Watch by going on my Normal Pokémon GO Routes, swimming in the bathtub, holding my breath till it told me to breathe and it was awesome' - the lLast Statement justified the whole review
From all the "media" reviews we saw yesterday with the iPhone 7 and now the Apple Watch, you guys at the Verge are by far the very best. Congrats on this one, really well done, with Lauren at its best. PS: there's room for improvement in the Drone shots department. Take a DJI Phantom 4 and you'll have way better shots.
Great review! Lauren is always super fun. And go easy on the drone shots you guys! The comment section is a bit disgusting but hey whatcha gonna do, it's the internet
Hey Lauren - In your demo, the Series 2 watch has "Strength Training" and you mentioned "Yoga" as a new category as well. Are these categories only available on Series 2 watches? My Series 1 watch does not have either... and I'm running the new OS. My wife would LOVE an official Yoga workout category... she's currently opting for Other workout on her Series 1 watch. Great Video! Thx!
It’s available on any Apple Watch running WatchOS 3…some of the other categories include Archery, AUS Football, Badminton, Barre, Basketball, Baseball, Bowling, Cricket, Cross Training, Skiing, Dancing, Fencing, Fishing, Golf, Handball, Hiking, Hockey, Jump Rope, Kickboxing, Paddling, Pilates, Sailing, Rugby, Snowboarding, Soccer, Surfing, Volleyball, and a whole bunch more too
I've searched the watch OS and the watch app on my phone for the long list of new Workout Categories... and I only see the same old workout list... Outdoor Walk, Outdoor Run, etc... how do you add these new workout categories in Watch OS3? Thanks!
Passed on the first Apple Watch because I knew the 2nd would be exactly what the 1st should've been. Can't wait to get it P.S Lauren butt was looking nice in those leggings 😌
I like the idea of the features it has for everyday use but if it dosent track pacing acctuarately for the price I can't justify buying it. Is the gps less accurate then TomTom or Garmin?
Would You recommend series one then over series 2? Not sure what I want. What would be your opinion since you own the first, would you rather have the second if you didn't buy that? What would you go for
So could I just go in the water without having a swim workout enabled? Say a waterpark, or just recreational swimming. It won't eject the water unless in a workout, right?
The only difference between the Sport and the Nike+ version of Series 2 is that the Nike+ version has some *unique bands, faces and engraving on the rear - that's all*. The software is available for all Apple Watches - the current version of NRC will soon match the one on the Nike 'version' of the Apple Watch.
Do I have to turn on a pool workout for the watch to become waterproof? Lets say I'm Kayaking, and my watch hits the water before i get the chance to switch it into pool mode. Will the watch be okay?
The only real reason to get Apple Watch 2 seems to be fitness tracking. Taking these features alone, what is the best watch in this class, if t's not the Apple Watch 2? (Great review by the way. Thanks.)
Water resistance is crucial on a wristwatch. Apple's website said that the 1st generation was "splash proof" and designed to withstand washing your hands, however, mine stopped making sounds after just a little water splashed on it from washing my hands. It had to be repaired or replaced by Apple on two separate occasions. They didn't charge me anything but the inconvenience was annoying. I had a feeling that they didn't want attention drawn to the fact that water makes the speaker stop working so they just repaired it for free. Now we have a "water resistant" version. Seems like a fix rather than an update.
I am also considering buying between apple watch and gear 3 and i am buying a gear 3 because it can be used as a phone. it provides LTE which is pretty much legit.
You should compare it with the Garmin Fenix 3 HR. It's a more serious fitness tracking watch but it'd be interesting to see the relation. I bought the Garmin to replace my cycling specific GPS computer and absolutely love it. It's pricey, doesn't have an Apple App Store, has a kinda shitty screen and is huge! But it also has an 8 day battery life, great battery when GPS tracking and can connect to my power meter, heart rate chest strap as well as my speed and cadence sensors. It can also track a huge range of different activities. I would like an Apple Watch with these benefits, though. I could even deal with it being as large. I just believe the Apple Watch would stay up to date better over time, function with my iPhone better and probably last longer.
The majority of those features (save for gps and waterproofing speaker) are on the first model with WatchOS3. The battery is good enough for me, and I take my iPhone with me for music anyways so use that for gps. Just started to get the route information now on iOS 10 and wOS 3. And it's thinner, this did not need to get bulkier. I see no reason to upgrade at all. Maybe with the next major revision.
Good review but no mention of Series 1. If i just wanted the basics why would I pay extra for the newer one. It even has the same processing power of the newer one. i tend to think of the Series 2 as a 'plus' or 's' model. In my opinion just get the Series 1 for $269.
She is the best verge reviewer, unbiased and witty.
I like her
Pretty as well
I found the review a little contradictory and it seemed to overlook the fact that a lot of the issues she identified with the first gen are resolved with WatchOS3, so really it comes down to how badly you need waterproofing and in-watch GPS.
Rong
Yup
also, she (or any other verge reviewer) might not even write the script, nor do we know how much the editor edits even if she does.
Legend says if you say The Verge three times they will reply
The Verge...

T!
+The Verge 😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
xd
But they didn't replay. So sad :/
18-25 PAIDW facts say you're thirsty 💦💦💦
The Verge has the best video iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2 reviews so far...
Thanks!
How come she already got Apple Airpods if it hasn't been released in the market?
Because they are getting the largest checks from Cupertino.
How does it feel giving up journalistic integrity for a fat check from Cupertino?
I want to understand the force that drives an otherwise normal human being to remove the required "the" that comes before the word "iPhone". Lauren back at it again with a great video.
More importantly, with her great pair of buttocks.
The fact that this review was workout-oriented did a great favor for all of us guys.
Does the Verge have a HELICOPTER to film these reviews? How are they getting the overhead shots?
Drones
That makes a lot more sense! Haha
What
using zoom
Hey Laura, say hi to your twin sister/clone for me, been a while we didint see her hope she is doing great!
how can you be so sure this was laura and not just her evil twin stealing her identity? not buying it
Lucas Medina D'Abate
Yeah you're right. Maybe the real Laura is trapped in some basement and the evil Laura is stealing her limelight. I guess we'll never know....
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ LAURA TAKE MY ENERGY ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
lol
What's the drop symbol at 4:18 ??
I'm guessing it activates the speakers to get water out but I'm not really sure
That's a toggle to eject water from the speakers using the Digital Crown after swimming.
thanks guys :D
i'd guess it will lock the speaker and then you press it again to eject the water
Is there also a function to get water out of the speaker without starting and ending a swim activity?
I give props to Apple for putting some desired features in the AW Series 2, but as a Series 0 owner, I don't think ill be upgrading. Thanks Verge for covering it though! Something to think about.
Do a review on the air pods when running
I like her, she's a keeper @theverge
Lauren your awesome, I can't wait till you review those air pods I see you wearing!!
Great review :) I am very happy with my Apple Watch series 1 and WatchOS 3.
the Airpods actually looks really good on a person
It looks fine from the side view. If you see it straight on, it looks completely different. See image of CNET review. cdn.bgr.com/2016/09/090716-apple-airpods-music-7021.jpg?quality=98&strip=all&strip=all

Unreal Engine 4 & Unity 3D Tutorials this comment held up well, didn’t it?

Apple always does great with 2nd gen products. oh also 4:09...
The 2nd gen new MacBook was meh
+LinusMLGTips that's cause the whole idea of the MacBook is meh
Just pre order the 7 plus 128gb, should i buy the apple watch series 2?
Oh, Airpods. That's a review I'm interested in. The Apple Watch, not so much, yet at least
On our list!
On her ears!
Yeah, I read and saw the short review, but I\d like to see a review from someone that has used the AirPods for at least a week, in the day to day live. I looks like they are currently under review, so I guess the review will be launched with the release of the AirPods

Don't know bout the watch but the video was awesome!!!!! The quality of visuals and of course the content!! Top notch.
Did we jump between California and NYC?
All California
SF, Stanford and somewhere in the foothills
Those of you looking for a hardcore fitness/training watch, check out the Garmin Fēnix 3. Great outdoor visibility, excellent battery life, and both fitness and activity tracking (with some light smartwatch features thrown in).
Apple... Made a product thicker... Wow
iphone 6s is thicker than the 6 lol
Phill Markovski ya for a better battery

I'm a simple man. I see Lauren, I press like.
If I buy the Apple Watch series 1 will it have faster speeds? Just a question.
Faster than the original watch but both series 1 and 2 have a dual processor and most reviews say they have the same speeds. I believe the S2 chip in the series 2 also refers to the built in GPS.
I luv her her reviews r so entertaining and informative at the same time
'I tested the new Apple Watch by going on my Normal Pokémon GO Routes, swimming in the bathtub, holding my breath till it told me to breathe and it was awesome' - the lLast Statement justified the whole review
She's such a breath of fresh air for the Verge. The best reviewer on the Verge
Best Apple Watch review.
I'd love to know if it was accurate for treadmill running? It would be awesome if they had an audible app built in as well.
Yes it was.
I just sold my Garmin 225. It's awesome to see the "waterproof" on series 2.
Good review but some of those features are specific to WatchOS 3 and not just Series 2.
Give it up for Verge's video team. as always.
brilliantly shot and Lauren is just a natural at this stuff. Oh and the watch is nice too!

You have to select the "Other" workout first then when you finish the workout tell the watch what you were doing. Then you can select it next time.
She is probably one of the best reviewers. That was so good! She should do much more reviews. Good job!!
I'm an adept of Fitbit for a long Time and now I'm thinking to buy the Apple Watch series 2 do recommand me to do it ? Thanks
Passed on the first Apple Watch because I knew the 2nd would be exactly what the 1st should've been. Can't wait to get it
P.S Lauren butt was looking nice in those leggings 😌
👌👌👍
Hey The Verge, this is the quality material i expected from you, this is why i'm a subscriber. Congrats on doing a great job I love it
Except from waterproofing and gps what else am I going to miss if i get the series 1?
it's water resistant
you dummy bit.....
Go to Apple's site, they have a comparison list of all of the features/differences between each of the different models.
To me a big selling point is also the mich brighter display (double)
the hype
Bigger battery, faster performance
That's cool that the watch expels water...but it's still getting inside of it so wouldn't it still get damaged?
No. 50 metres underwater. Does that say something?
The design prevents water from getting any further (it just fills the speaker cavity).
I like the idea of the features it has for everyday use but if it dosent track pacing acctuarately for the price I can't justify buying it. Is the gps less accurate then TomTom or Garmin?
think i am just going to keep my last year model SS i pick up. Watch os3 runs like a champ on it right now.
yeah is true, feels better on WatchOS 3 and really love reply features Scribble
Would You recommend series one then over series 2? Not sure what I want. What would be your opinion since you own the first, would you rather have the second if you didn't buy that? What would you go for
Drake Holmes if I didn't have one I would go with the S2. If they make a stainless steel s2 that's what I would go with.
+Drake Holmes if you are in to running, swimming then go for series2, else series 1 is good as they both have same processor now.
So could I just go in the water without having a swim workout enabled? Say a waterpark, or just recreational swimming. It won't eject the water unless in a workout, right?
Yeap. Waterproof but guarantee on devise, doesn`t cover water damage.
It's only waterproof to 50m
That's the same with every company.
Why would they, so people could go far past the 50 meters limit and lie about it to get a replacement?
Justin Gorinac Exactly plus there would people dumb enough to think swimming with their cracked iPhone 7 would still be covered after water damage.
Even the Samsung s7 doesn't cover water damage, and the s7's water resistance and way less
Can't wait for series 6
I want series 7s+
As always, great review!!!
Great review and video storytelling.
Best Apple Watch review
Please include the music track you use in every video in the description
The watch reminds me to breathe. Waw cool i want it
I also want that 😂
i want it to breath for me ;)
Reminds you to "deep breathe" dude.. Not just "breathe" 😓
Very usefull
Sometimes I forget to breathe. Thanks, Apple!
Nice review! I sold my own, but because of the new OS I took to upgrade my wife watch to test it. And it feels new!
ha everyone thought it'd be a circular design and totally different yet they only added a swimming speaker, waterproof
The parting shot... both hilarious and painfully accurate.
Im guessing those specific strength training workouts are only on series 2? I wonder why
Did you even watch the video?
Ah I see. After. That's cool
Im not too interested in the Apple Watch, but nonetheless I still watched the whole video. Nice cuts, good music, very good presentation :)
The addition of the built in gps can show live speed? Or is only average?
The only difference between the Sport and the Nike+ version of Series 2 is that the Nike+ version has some *unique bands, faces and engraving on the rear - that's all*. The software is available for all Apple Watches - the current version of NRC will soon match the one on the Nike 'version' of the Apple Watch.
Nike is lit though
I moved a class up from my review. I will do this till i get to the Series 10 and Ultra 2
Great video Lauren!
Is this the 38mm or 42mm in the video?
38mm!
+The Verge thanks!
I'm into Android Wear (i own a Huawei Watch) and, in general, Android ecosystem but... i Love the Apple Watch design!
Can Apple Watch 2 connect with other Bluetooth wireless headsets ?
Yes
+Nade yes, even series one
Do you even lift though?
Smart watch's are great for people at work that can't be on their phones or the kids at school lol ✌🏻🎅🏻
Do I have to turn on a pool workout for the watch to become waterproof?
Lets say I'm Kayaking, and my watch hits the water before i get the chance to switch it into pool mode. Will the watch be okay?
some awesome shots in here for a review! nice one!!!
Great review, thanks!
I can get my LG Watch Urbane to last 3 days. I only use around 20-25% per day.
The only real reason to get Apple Watch 2 seems to be fitness tracking. Taking these features alone, what is the best watch in this class, if t's not the Apple Watch 2? (Great review by the way. Thanks.)

Awesome review! Just gonna get the series 1 with the new dual core, not much of a difference between the 2 series for me to get the new one
Very cool review, badass reviewer! :D keep it up! and " breathe "
so what are you recommend more for running? FitBit Surge or Apple watch 2?
Can you utilize a third party heart rate monitor? Like wahoo tickr? I don't like the sensors on the wrist. Not very accurate.
Another dope ass review per usual.
Would I always have to put it in pool or open water exercise to use it in the water?
How accurate are the sensors compared to dedicated fitness accessories?
i'm confused 🤔 which one i buy apple watch aluminum vs stainless steel
Still using my Apple Watch series 2 😊
Just wondering if u can make calls with out the phone?
if I go running with apple watch and no iphone can the apple watch play songs to my bluetooth earphones?
How is the accuracy when swimming?
#ExcellentReview couldn't be better than this!
Hello, is Apple watch 2 compatible with Polar stride sensor? 🤔
Can you still use the Nike app on the non-nike edition? with the same features like gps-tracking in Nike?
Never thought I'd see Big Bird rocking the Apple Watch Series 2 in the streets of NYC!
What type of bike is that
Damn! A breath app? WoW! Apple knows their users toooo well.
Then don't use it..
Well considering most seem to be mouth-breathers, it kinda makes sense.
3:53 - look at that beautiful red Vespa in the background ;-)
I love what you are doing with triangles ;)
Looking forward to the Pebble Time 2 review :)
