Just got my first Blackstone over the weekend and have been watching videos like crazy on it. Thank you for the simplified version on cleaning it. To the point and informative.
Thanks for the video, this is how i clean mine too. Towards the end you can see a discolored spot in the middle, ive got that too and food is sticking there, does that mean i need to strip down and reseason?
If you live somewhere with higher humidity, it definitely helps, or if you only use your griddle once in a while! We cook on ours at least 5 days a week, year round, and live on the high desert, so it's not necessary for me. That being said, it is also a great protection against rodents getting onto your griddle top through the grease trap!
After you've cleaned your griddle, with the heat still on high, wipe a thin layer of oil onto your griddle top and shut down the heat! Make sure it is thin! It's just acting as a protective layer until your next cook!
I just bought some cheep wind gaurds and then a day later i watched this video and saw yours. They look waaaay better than what i bought. Any info on them. Great video
I've never had that issue! I will eat my dinner with my family, then come back and clean up. By that time, the grease has cooled enough that it's not an issue!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 I am glad that you said that you eat first, then clean the griddle. I was thinking that if you cleaned the griddle before eating, your food will be cold! I was thinking that the cleanup was be much more time consuming too. Thanks for sharing.
Wait I just got a griddle, not blackstone, I thought you were NEVER supposed to put water on the hot griddle because it could warp? This is my first one so I genuinely don’t know.
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 thank you, yeah this is my first griddle and it’s not a blackstone, that’s just what I read on the manual. But if you’ve never had an issue I think it’ll be fine. Thanks again.
Great video. How can a video have 25K views but only 202 likes and the content creator only has 213 subscribers (BTW I'm #213, lol)? Come on people, it doesn't cost a thing to click like and subscribe, maybe even leave a comment, but it's a huge help to these small channels. Thank you for the great content.

Your welcome!

Picking mine up tomorrow!
@@Acesandeightz enjoy!
Looks easy enough, thanks!
That’s pretty much my routine as well. Awesome sharing bro.
Thank you!
I have been cleaning my grill that way. Great video, works awesome
Thank you sir!

I did not have to! Each time I fire up my griddle I wipe a thin layer of oil and let it burn off so it continues to build it's layers!
Thanks for this video! Hey, are griddle mats even needed if u have a cover?

@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 ok. Thanks for responding
Is there any reason you don't let that final coat of oil get hot and add to the seasoning before you turn it off?
I always put my griddle away with a thin, fresh layer of oil! Added protection! And it will burn in when I preheat my griddle for the next cook!
I'm New to griddle cooking. When reseasoning after cleaning, does the heat stay on?

@robertobermeier9172 the wind guards on the Pro Series Griddle are built in as part of the unit! The Omnivore Griddle top sits down between them!
Oh ok. Thats why they look so good. I will have to stick w my aftermarket ones and see if it helps. Thanks for the reply.
@robertobermeier9172 that's what alot of people use they seem to really help! 🍻
Just put them on today. Going to try some breakfast in the am Thanks for the help. Subscribed. Looking forward to future videos. Thanks again
@robertobermeier9172 thanks for subscribing got a few videos dropping this next week!
When pushing the water into the drip tray, do you ever get flareups?
I've never had that issue! I will eat my dinner with my family, then come back and clean up. By that time, the grease has cooled enough that it's not an issue!
Great question!

What scraper are you using?
It's the Blackstone signature series scraper!
What temp did you leave it on while cleaning and oiling ? Medium or low or in between?
I clean my griddle on high! And shut off right before I oil it!
Vegetable oil and seasoning the same thing???
@alvarocorral1576 not the same, but vegetable oil works just fine for seasoning a griddle!
Do you wait for it to cool down before putting that silicone mat on it?
Yes sir!
I have the bigger grease cup as well. Good investment! They should make all these 36” grills with that standard.
Wait I just got a griddle, not blackstone, I thought you were NEVER supposed to put water on the hot griddle because it could warp?
This is my first one so I genuinely don’t know.
I've never had a Blackstone griddle top warp on me when using water! I've used this cleaning method on all 4 of my Blackstones!

Putty knife, check.😊

Very much appreciated! Thank you!
I've never used water. 😂
Great! So you like a dirty griddle? 🤣
OK so......what do you use then?
